I find that if one is not a little careful, and conscious, one puts on a lot of unwanted weight and and the first place where the weight goes up is around the waist. How does one reduce the waist once it has increased beyond a certain limit and does not reduce by normal exercise. i have tried yoga. it does help but is a very slow process and one loses patience in the mean while. Does walking or jogging or doing sit ups help? What are the other exercises one can do to reduce the flab around the waist?

I used to be a little fat and as you say,the flab is around the waist. In order to reduce it I did sit-ups,WITH a 35 pound weighted dumbbell putting on my chest. That's very hard, but really effective.

Yes, you should try sit-ups, but also work on your obliques. These exercises target the "love handle" area and help pull it all back together. Here's a link that can help or you can just do a search and find some other helpfull exercises. Good luck! http://exercise.about.com/cs/abs/l/bloblique.htm
