For smokers,how did you start to smoke?

I wonder how my boyfriend and other smokers started to smoke. What were the reasons to get someone to start with smoking habit? Was it because of friends,fun,or something else? According to my boyfriend,he started to smoke because of a bunch of friends who keen to try out smoking in their teenage. How about you as a smoker? Have you ever regret for having this habit? Please share with me,thanks in advance.

not sure,really.i just picked it up one day.
i'm pretty sure i had a second hand addiction anyway,both my parents smoked.
do i regret it?yes.i've tried countless times to quit,and it's become an expensive habit with pack prices now.
