I have an unfortunate experience just recently about the language used in posting to a discussion. I make a short tagalog(philippines) sentenced and afterwards I ask for pardon before posting it. The other day, this one member quoted me single handedly telling me that its a shame that there's a filipino who breaks the rule(approximately). I feel hurt about it and so a "war" begun. What do you think, Should I ignore that? There are several insults which I receive from this member to the point that I reported it. Tell me please, am I unwise on my action(she provoked me and so I respond)? Enlighten me here. I mean no harm this is the first time I experienced this and I did start it. Yes, I violated a rule or two(first when I post in non-english, then I respond to the insults). What is your opinion to this? My english is not so perfect and that sometimes, expressing something is kinda hard. By the way, the discussion fell under the philippines as a category.

Well I'm sorry that you encountered someone who was igornant in their thoughts concerning others from countries outside of the US. People like that need to be reported and I think if you reported her you did the right thing.
Next- I wouldn't post anything not in English again- I know that can be hard but it is the rule.
Finally- ignore this person and move on. Let mylot deal with her behavior.
I hope you continue to enjoy mylot and good luck to you.

I guess that this is it. I have to move on and forget this thing. I promise to try to be more civil next time. As for the rules, I always try my best to post in english. I even check for the spelling.

I didn't see anything that suggested you weren't civil- good luck to you and I hope you have more positive experiences in the future.

It is ok if the authorities delete my post. What hurts me is the post of another. Actually there are two members who do this but the other one which I exclude just notify about the rules so its doesn't hurt me. Its ok. As for the other member, he/she repeatedly insulted me saying things like (1)its shameful knowing that a fellow filipino is messing with mylot; (2) using the word "pasaway"; (3) using the word "defensive" and others bad things. Anyway, its time to move on.

well, i can only say ignore the person... i don't really like to argue with people and most of the time i prefer to remain quiet... unless if the insultis already too much, then i will say something... i don't have time to entertain people like that... my time is much more worth it than that... also, i don't want to level myself with the uneducated people who behave in that manner... i am much better than those people... so i will say you had done the right thing by reporting the person and just let mylot do the rest of the job... that discussion might be deleted though because as you say you had violated some rules as well... take care and have a nice day...

Sounds like trolling, you should ignore it.

That's sad to know. Is he/she also a Filipino? If I were you, just ignore that person for now. If you will put a "tagalog" word, make sure you put it like that. As in "quoted". If you will check some discussions under Philippines, you'll see a lot of "tagalog" words used. Like topics about "ukay-ukay" etc... check it out. Don't be guilty. ok?

I feel relieved. Certainly, he/she is a filipino as the posts suggest(he/she also use tagalog words and phrases) when he/she insulted me. You console me. Thanks.

I am also a non-English speaker.I find it's very hard to express myself in English sometimes, too. But I believe practice makes perfect. The effects of adjusting ourselves to think and express in English is just the way to improve our English. So I think obeying the rule of myLot is especially important to non-English speaker.

Rules say you should use English. Rules say people should not criticize bad or broken English as myLot welcomes people from around the world. So you made a mistake (don't we all from time to time), it is not the end of the world so move on. It is not worth the energy to worry about it or get into a flame war with someone over a small mistake, you are a big boy now get over it.

Just forget that this thing happened and move on. You've done the right thing by reporting the incident to mylot. Let mylot deal with that person. Just be careful on your next posts.
