I admit that I commited several offences related to posting non-english here in mylot. Who else here in mylot admits the same? Did anyone reacted so freaky that hurts you badly telling you that its a shame a fellow filipino breaks the rule? Please share your comment.

Hello, friend! I am just very new here in myLot. And before I was convinced by my brother to sign up, I made clear with him all the things that I have in my mind. He made it clear that I am to use the English language in all discussion. So, fortunately, I am abiding by the rule. If there are times when I have to translate the Tagalog words into English, I look for it in the net. Just be patient with the translation of words, don't hurry. That's what I do, I even rephrase the sentence if and when I can't express it clearly in English!

lucky for me that i haven't done that mistake. anyway, about anyone reacting violently about it, i think you better let it pass. well, you are not perfect - nobody is. you are just probably so into your discussion that you tend to pour out everything into it, making you, unconsciously, use words other than english. ofcourse, most of us here in mylot does not use english as our primary language. so, just enjoy what you do here! just be more careful next time!

i think you already post something similar post like this yesterday and i had responded to it... after i read the comment properly from the person who you say is abusing you, i'm not sure who is at fault now... and please, even though it is the other person's fault, you don't have to create so many discussions just to attack the person... enough is enough and you yourself are not perfect... and looking at your number of posts, i think you also have not been here for a long period of time... so please adapt and learn to let go... take care and have a nice day...

There are times that I even spell words wrong on my posts and I have also used filipino words on my post every now and then but, I would still try to have it italicized and provide an english translation.. if there is but, if there isn't, I'll try to explain what the word implies. An etymology would be good. Breaks down the word for better understanding. 'Shame that a fellow filipino breaks the rule?' I think that is over.. Where did the patriotism go? For a fellow filipino to be disappointed for his brethren on not being able to express his thoughts and ideas in a language that isn't really innately their's to begin with? There's nothing to be ashamed about. We can't help it if we can't express ourselves clearer than to use the language that we know better. Those who get disappointed on their fellow countryman should be the ones to first understand that. Help them instead of reacting too much, as if they have total mastery on communicating in english while not even fully knowledgeable on grasping their own innate language. If they are indeed capable of utilizing filipino and english on expressing themselves, salute to that but, arrogance isn't one of its privileges, even if its a rule that gets violated most of the time.

Wow.. so that's how it got here.. (-_-") Well, I tried to post in general as much as possible. Avoiding being specific but, the initial post of the one who started this discussion might lead others to think otherwise on it. I hope it doesn't go on and on and the admins in this site do something about the issue..

No, none so far. When I was just a noob I constructed Tagalog sentences, but now I hav reduced it to just phrases when the situation calls for it (like if it the word/phrase cannot be possibly translated into English). A foreigner pointed my earlier mistake out to me, and he was very polite in saying it, so I learned from it. Now for the argument between you and spoiledbrat (i have read the post, the one where he pointed out that the use of our language is forbidden), i guess the best thing is to let it go. you've learned your lesson, right? i guess it really pays to read the FAQs and the guidelines before doing anything else in any site that you're in, so we won't encounter such situations again. As I said, we Filipino myLotters should not argue with each other, instead, we should help each other out since we are, after all, brothers and sisters in origin. and i hope you do not take offense in my comment, as well. anyways, let's just all be careful next time, that's the best way to go around here

I appreciate your comment and Im really sorry about the last post on the other discussion. I admit that that last post is harsh and I hope that it wont happen again. As for my patience, I try my best to ignore such things I guess I dont need to explain further and let others judge it. All I ask is that no one will ever provoke me or others to do such violations. I violated some rules and its my lesson. Anyway, I will honor my previous post in this discussion never again to give way to impulses.

Do you have the similar experience(getting insults from other filipino mylot members)? What did you do then? If nothing like this happens to you, what will you feel if someday someone(filipino member) do this to you?

I've used Hindi with friends sometimes....but no one has reacted badly about it. But I did point out to another friend (nicely) that it's against the rules to do so. Once in a while a word or two is fine....but others who are reading your response might not understand what is said if you resort to too many foreign (non-English) words.

you're so wicked. i thought a fellow Filipino was insulting you because of your violation. i came across this member once who was making fun of Filipino members whom he said were ignorant of MyLot rules. i didn't like it at all. given, he is an expert, we should be careful about what we say especially to our fellow countrymen because this is a website wherein different cultures and race come together. what kind of meaning do we convey to others with that attitude? we Filipinos are prone to racism and it's something that we wish to avoid but if a Filipino will initiate it first, then the battle is lost. it's a shame. now, to the using of Tagalog terms. guess, it's okay to inject a word or two like our traditional greetings and when we address somebody older than us. just avoid using tagalog in the whole construction of your discussion. first, it is a clear violation and it's like you're excluding others from your discussion coz only Filipinos can understand it. the purpose of Mylot is interaction, for everybody to get involved in whatever topic that he chooses to get involved in. i hope this incident, the insulting and fighting among Filipinos, will not happen again...Mabuhay!

I think there are really times when its really hard to find an english counterpart for a tagalog word. I think there are lots of word that i really dont know how to say it in english. Sometimes we cant really avoid it because we are just trying our best to express our ideas but there are times when there is really no way to do so than to use the tagalog word itself. There are times when we translate tagalog word to english it doesnt seem to have the exact meaning anymore, i think its really different when you use the original word itself. :)

I've never posted a pure Tagalog post because it's against mylot rules. The rules are in place for a reason, which is to encourage those who don't understand you local language to participate in your discussion. I would feel bad id half the mylot discussions are in Chinese! Anyway, no one's ever said mean things to me about posting in Tagalog or using Tagalog-specific words in some discussions...

We all have committed mistakes here at one time or another. This is mainly because we did not read the guidelines. Well it is really important to read the guidelines in order to avoid violations. Some Users will spot your violation and they will react of course! However they react just take it positively.Don't let a remark which you thought to be freaky affect you negatively. Freaky or not freaky, at least you learned from your mistake.

hi there, i don't think i ever used Tagalog or Filipino words when i am making a post or a comment here in my lot. i am just being considerate those who doesn't understand our language and that would be a some sort of a respect. i think it would be okay to use Filipino words as long as you explained it in English knowing that this social site is international and not all are Filipinos. i too feels bad when my fellow Filipinos are being treated badly by others and being told ill mannered words. hope this helps.

Well I use it too but of course I would have to translate it (if it could be translated) Well it adds up to the richness of culture in the discussion that's why if I have to use I'll use it just as long as I could translate it.

Hi there, sometimes, on my responses to the discussions started by fellow mylotters, i used tagalog terms, but only one word. I never used tagalog for the entire comments or discussions. coz sometimes i can't avoid to tagalog terms. If that a violation here well i would ask an apology to the admin and make sure next time i woun't use tagalog again here on mylot. Happy posting.
