There was this guy in the city where i'm from and he won $10 million on lotto and to surprise he was teasing people, telling them they are poor and he is a rich man, whats worse about this dude was that he never had that (higher) eductaion and he knew little about investing or investments.
He always had a pride even before he won the lotto, he would tease other guys about what he wear and how expensive his jewish were, to make things worse he won the $10 million lotto jackpot and all hell broke loose to everybody, he would make parties almost everyday with his friends, and when it come to his pride of teasing other people it got even worse
He was claiming to be rich and nobody around could come close to what his bank account looks like. he would buy all this expensive cars and not even think of opening a business
Now 5 years down the line here he is left with nothing but scrap cars on his yard and according to how i see him and the way i know how he live, i know that there is nothing in the bank
Now i'm asking myself, if you have lot of money does it mean that you are rich or you only have money? whats the different between having lot of money and beeing rich?

The answer can either be no or can be yes. It actually depends on the way you handle it. I know some who also have received a large amount of money upon retirement. But they end up broke because of not properly handling it. It is really a big advantage if you know how to invest money. Investment helps people to correctly handle their money. It makes us think how hard it is to make money that we should take good care of the things we have.
But then it is not just money which make us rich. We can be rich in our character, or can be rich because of friends we have in our life. A good health is also a treasure. Though we usually see being rich through money, there are also many things money can't buy which can really make us rich.

That's actually a usual scenario with people winning the lotto, they think that after winning the lotto or any game with money, they'd be rich forever, they fail to understand that money can soon be gone if not managed correctly.
There was once an experiment by the Oprah show I guess, where they left a lot of money in the garbage bin knowing that a poor man would get it, sooner or later someone found it and the researchers were trying to see what he'd do about it, well he did as expected, he bought everything he wanted, took life easy, even gave his brother a brand new car. Sooner or later he lost everything again and was back to zero. They then asked him what he realized then, he simply said that money is outlived soon and he should have done differently.
Regrets do come afterwards, and we never realize the value of things (or people) until it's gone. What's sad even is that after he lost everything, his brother (the one he gave car to) never had thoughts of loaning him money.
So you see, for me, money doesn't make you rich. Yes it does but as soon as it's drained out, you're back to where you are. Regardless how 'wise' you might think of yourself, when money knocks at your door and enters, you most likely would throw your values and 'intellect' away out the door. Maybe that's why there are few rich people and even fewer of those who won anything who because successful or rich forever.
For me being rich is having the happiness and love you enjoy, plus having the freedom to do it. And of course, having your money work for you, the right way and the proper way.

i think being rich is when you worked for it and earned it, and made all that money yourself, and when u use it but, u continue to earn more to replace. winning in a lottery is temporary riches, and as soon as u use it up, you wont have anything left, unless u continue to win lotteries for the rest of ur life.

With the sum of money he won, he could have been rich if he had great plans for it. He could have opened big business and invest all his fortunes in it, unfortunately those kind of luck is unlikely that it would repeat itself, but if you have a chance to live nice life, you could do it through investments but spending almost all what you got and hoping that you will win again is something unlikely to happen.

Well if you win instant money, it doesn't mean that you are already rich. You could be rich if you use the money properly or you could only be a one day millionaire. In winning $8 million, it doesn't mean that you are rich. It could be but money easily go aWay. You are not aware that you spend too much money already. If i have that money i will try to build my own business and invest. I will try to make it more bigger.

Too bad...he wanted to "spin money" those are the words he liked to say whenever he was around, he would go like "i'm spinning money homie" and he was spinning money because he had everything, from flashy cars, expensive clothing to beautiful women. All he wanted to do was to spin his caash on somethings that people would see that he has money, obviously by investing nobody would see that this guy has lot of money, atleast thats how i think he thought, and the best way to show people that he had money was to buy all this flashy things and live the life of the rich

What's up Loxion!!
There's a difference between rich and wealth. The guy that you speak of was rich, at one point in time. He never grasped the fact that to survive in life you must think wealthy not rich. A wealthy person makes the right decisions with their money, invest it, give some of it to charity, multiply it. If he was smart or at least had a wealthy mindset, his net worth would probably be $30 mil. right now. But he went and pissed it all off, and karma hit him in the A$$. Making fun of people that are in the same position you just were in doesn't make it any better. So he got what he deserved.

This dude is a jerk, i mean how do you blow the cash like that? he used to say "i'm spinning money" and again he would say "i spend money like dust", i mean how can you talk like that when you only spend and nothing is coming to account?
The monet was flowing out and nothing was coming in and still he was talking as if he was the wealthiest man alive. And now i can confidently say "i'm spinning money" each time i see this a**, because he use to tease me and my friends, "sayiing feets are not meant for walking but only to balance the body", how do you talk to people like that?
Now he walk around on foot too, no more cars, no more lavish life, no more nice ladies.
He deserve it BIG TIME

It just goes to show with that man life does have a way of balancing out doesn't it? His friends probably scammed him of his money and he was nine the wiser.
I live love makes you rich. Not money. But if I had that much money. I would help others, that is for you.

This guy was too selfish, i mean we have lot of charities locally but he never donated even a cent, and he would say they never help him when playing the lotto. And the more you told him about it is the more he becomes furious with you, and he would think that you just want the piece of his fortune.

I don't have much but I consider myself well off....especially to people who have less than I. It's not what you have it's how much you appreciate your good fortyune and what you do with it.

i wouldnt brag about it but i would always still be rich because my lifestyle wouldnt alter all that much. i would probably still shop at thrift stores and the like and big box stores like walmart. i would definitely pay off bills first and then we would see what we did.

I think investment is a good option if you know or have some guidance on how to invest if you have that type of money, and only after some investments that people could call you a rich person, but this guy here decided to take a different rouute in showing people that he was having money
Whats worse about this guy is the fact that he cannot listen to anyone, when people try to guide him on how to spend his fortunes wisely he thought they wanted a piece of his money, even his friends of which he abandoned afterwards because he wanted to "spin cash" as it was his famous words, he would tell everybody that "i'm spinning cash"

I supposed a lot of money makes you "rich" in the dictionary meaning of the word. But how you use your wealth, and the type of person you are makes such a difference whether you have money or not. How you treat people either way, and obviously this person didn't have a handle on that, and the type of person you are makes you much "richer" than and amount of money could, in my opinion. And, as you have shown with this example, having the money and not being responsible won't leave you with any money at the end. Money sure does weird things to peoples' minds doesn't it?

Whats more surpring about this guy here is the fact that...even before he had that kind of money, he was always like that, altough he couldn't talk "louder" as people had much than he had. And now with lot of money in his pocket now he can loudly open his mouth to tell people(including me) how poor we are
I mean even some of his best friends turned a back on him because he would say "i feed you, you eat me, drink me and everything", i mean how will you live i nice life if you treat people like that?. And is like GOD saw how he was treating people and just blinded his mind so that he cannot do anything with it.
This guy never really had good education as i said but he would not listen to advice from other people, i mean how would you gain knowledge on things you do not know if you don't listen to other people?
I think responsibility and knowing how to invest your money and knowing how to handle your life is all you need to be succesful

It sounds like, even when this man had his $10 million, he was still a poor man!
A person like this cannot possibly have any true friends! People who brag about how much money they have, how expensive their clothes are, or who put other's down because they're not as 'rich' (money-wise) as they are, are extremely lonely people with empty lives.
No, money doesn't make you rich! Richness comes from INSIDE a person, not from what they own. It comes from the love of friends and family. It comes from being an honorable and respectable person.
If I won $8 million, I'd put some away for my old age and put the rest to good use, helping others. Oh, I'd probably buy myself something that I've wanted for a long time; something frivolous and totally unnecessary, but I'd want to do everything I could to help others. I certainly wouldn't brag about it!
That man apparently is getting what he deserves. He's lost all that money and now has nothing. I'm sure he has no friends nor the love of his family. He's just as poor now as he was when he had $10 million in the bank!

I have to say that guy had it coming to him. He was truly very lucky to have won $10 million!!! Man, that is awesome. But like you said. He was given a gift from who knows where, and you might be asking yourself the question... Of all the people to give the best of luck, why did it have to be him? Lol. Many people would think it isn't truly fair. He was given a gift yet he blew it. With all that money he didn't need to have any knowledge of business, he could have hired some professional to take care of his business. Maybe partner with someone who needs his finances. But yet like you said he spent it all on parties and fancy stuff and years down the road he ended up with nothing. To be truly rich is to have the wealth from the heart and not from the head. All that money could have made a difference for someone else. If it was me, I would have invested in businesses that would help a lot of my friends out of the ditch. cheers!

Again this is the type of person who just cannot listen to anyone, he always have his final say when it come to making decisions, no matter he is right or wrong, to him whichever decision he makes is correct, he would never take guidance from anybody else. And do you deal with someone like that? you have to let him go, because you don't want to be embarrassed by him telling people how you wanted the piece of his fortunes

Even a person with no money can be rich. Although many think that money will buy them happiness it will not. Without family and friends to support you and love you your life is meaningless and empty. Although I don't have a big bank account I consider myself to be extremely wealthy because I have three healthy children and a husband that loves me. Even the largest bank account can't do that for me.

But is shame for my fellow country man here because he thought he could have almost anything he wanted, he once said he wanted the most beautiful ladies around, and guess what, he got them all of the beautiful ladies but thats not love because now that he is poor they look at him in a different way
He once found me and friends at shopping mall and we were doing our window shopping and happens that he was there too and the words that came out of his mouth was :poor little people, you cannot afford to buy that, go home", thats cursing. How can you tease people from the same area you come from like that? who will be there for you when there is a dark cloud falling over you?
Now that the dark cloud felt on him we just have to move away and watch as he suffer the consequencies, because he just cannot listen, he is subborn. he could have been rich if it wasn't because of his "hard head" if i may call it that way.
But now he is empty in his life because everybody is moving away from him

He's a no good dirtbag. After he lost his wealth, he is shown as an example of a person who was given a gift and he threw it all away. Not even realizing that he once was over the edge too. Now that he has all his riches gone, perhaps his pride may have taken some time to seep into his mind to open his eyes. hehehe.

I'd say it depends on the kind of rich you are talking about. If I had that much money I would say that I was rich, but I wouldn't be able to spend it that quickly, I don't think!! Well......maybe, by the time I helped all the members of my family as I would want to!! I know someone who works with money and investments so she would be one of the first people I would call! Guess it all depends on your definition.

I just can't imagine spending all of that in five years and I have plenty of things that I would like to do if I had the money AND that BIG family that would be happy to help me. When I was growing up, I can remember the saying that you could "never spend a million dollars". Guess is isn't true anymore!! Happy myLotting to you!!

Lucky you, atleast you can have someone to contact and ask for guidance.I also think that if you have won or which ever way gathered that kind of money the first thing to your mind will be "investments".But for the poor guy i'm talking about here i think even if he had someone to go help he wouldn't listen because he was ignorant and again arrogant
He wouldn't listen to anyone except himself, to him everything was right
Right now when you look at him you cannot believe it if someone can tell you that... this guy had won the amount between $8 to 10 million 5 years ago, i mean he spend it all of it

I mean not even 1cent to a local children's fund to help kids to stay out of the streets. He deserved it big time and i think nobody could feel sorry for him

Money can make you rich, in things, but most people, when they get so much money, so fast, spend it all and sometimes get into worse debt than before because they adapt a more expensive lifestyle.
We have come into money a few times and are not rich. We spent most of it but not on trivial things, for the most part. We would get things we needed, like repairs, a decent car, maybe a trip, but we never changed our lifestyle so when it was gone, we were not broke.
We did invest some of it and pay off our mortgages, so we are rich as we now own our home and have a loving family to share it.

It is easy to want to see people "get their due" but instead I like to pray for them that their misfortune and bad choices have taught them lessons that will stay with them in life.
We all make mistakes, we are all not perfect. I like to think that I have decided being rich is not equal to being happy. Not that money hurts, lol, but having had great losses of loved ones in my life and having money, I pick having those loved ones back and living in a tent.

Too bad about this guy here because he never invest anything and what made things worse is the fact that he decided to change his normal lifestyle for the rich one. I personally think he deserved it because he use to have "a big mouth" treating us like animals
Now is like he lost everything, his friends, all those expensive cars and living an "empty" life

Definitely no... It was how you spend money wisely... If you have that amount of money you should use it wisely and when it is bigger as you think, well it is what you called rich and one thing you have all kinds of business around the corner and investments in a company. That makes you really a rich person because you know that you have a source of income that can grow and grow. Share to others and it will more grower as you never notice.
One more, being rich isn't a news that you have to shout to all the people. Just keep it and wait people noticed it. Be humble, Right?
