Quad core because it is the latest and fastest processor for now. They exist to be the fastest right now but the price is very expensive but if dare to have this, then go for it. If you are talking about mid range budget, well try dual core. But for some time now quad core are the highest form of processor right now. And I am waiting for the after version of quad core.

High level AMD vs Intel - I don't think it matters much. What is best for my computer? Which computer? My Netbook I think the Intel Atom is doing a fine job, and is tiny and not at all power hungery. But for my desktop I want something with lots of cores, cache and speed. That is not this Atom.

I think depends on your usage. If you use your computer more on gaming, I think the best is AMD. If for purpose of excel, word, for research work, layouting, Intel maybe better.

Not only for me, for every one the best one is the highest speed. i.e. when it comes to intel, the high speed is the core2Quad. and when it comes to AMD something like multicore. But when it comes to cost effective, the best and reliable processors are dual core processors. I am not specific about the company. But I will choose the processor depending upon the speed and and the cost. I had bought my PC two years back. At that time, I found the cost effective and reliable one as Pentium D 2.8 Ghz which supports dual core and hyper threading technologies. Now it was not avialable and also a slow one when compares to the processors that we have now. Thank You. Your PC could be a cash machine. Look at my profile to know how.

I use both, the simple questions is? how much i want to spend in a new computer? intel and AMD are both good, you only need to know, what kind of thing i want to do in the computer, word excel chating internet, anyone is good, if you want to play you have to look for a good L2 Cache processor.

hye friend i will share my own experience so the main comparison is between Intel and AMD and i use both of them coz in the past i had a intel p4 1.7 processor and now i have AMD 4000+ processor and i find myself more compatible with amd the main thing is in amd is the browsing and its speed and the major thing is its cheaper then Intel so acc to me AMD is better than intel and it is replacing it.
