Wow I see according to some of you, that are posting here in politics, don't like it when someone opposes your views. There is no need to attack people who are trying to voice what they think. What is with all the name calling? The last time I checked we were all still entitled to freedom of speech. Almost every discussion I have come across has name calling in it. It's okay to have a difference of opinions, but do it with respect.

Thats why I tend to stay away from those type of discussions. There are always people who think they are right and eveeryone else is wrong. They think their opinion is the only opinion. You just have to see the for who they are and move on. Dont let them bother you or do as i do and dont post.

Hi Snow
I see a lot of members steering clear of the discussions for that reason. It's almost like a bully on the playground. It's to bad people's opinions are getting surpressed
I don't post in any of the discussions that are getting really nasty
P.S.
If you asked m hubby he would tell you I am always right

I'm with you on that one.
I prefer popping up out of nowhere to find various ways of indirectly saying how hot mssnow is without actually saying it outright.

I agree with you too mssnow, thats the reason I try to stay away from discussions about politics, everybody has a right to an opinion, but there are some that like to argue with you about your opinions, and I don't want to get into any arguments thats not why I'm here.

I have learn to stay away from political and religion discussions.
The closest to election time the worst. Even my close friends are sending me all this crop on Obama or McCain...like I would not have my own mind to choose.
I have been attack by close people and it is more than enough.
I was reading some discussions here on Mylot and it is all the same.
People are going crazy trying to push their point of view and assuming that everyone who is thinking opposite is personal enemy...
Shamed....

Great to see you too Calais
That wasn't why I left but things have settled for now so I am back for awhile
It's awful apparently I missed something because I don't remeber it being this bad. That's probably a good thing since I have been known to let people "have it" I would probably get myself banned

That's why I dont usually respond to those kinds of topics because people tend to get really heated and they lash out I never understood why people get so worked up about things because people need to realize were all entitled to our opinions and that everyone has different views on things, and theres always gonna be someone who disagrees with something especially if its about politics or religion I never get angry when discussing anything here because whats the point of getting angry it just makes things unpleasant, were all here to have fun and learn things and give our opinion's so I choose to steer clear of topics that are to serous or unpleasont.

I've seen a lot of that too. I've also witness the deletion of comments, resposes, & even entire discussions. I've also seen people who got rude & nasty & then after their stuff was deleted, it turned out that ALL of their discussions & responses were gone - s sure sign that someone got completely banned. I've also seen quite a few guideline violations, such as copy & paste of copyrighted stuff. I seem to only jump in to tell people to re-read the mylot guidelines before going any further.

Hello, mfpsassy.
Yes, some people are really rude when you go against their ideas. We are all here to discuss, but it seems like people get offended too easily if you go against them. We are not here to agree with each other. If everybody agreed with you, the World wouldn't be fun. It would be all the same thing, all over the place. It is great to know that there are people with different ideas than yours, even if you believe that YOUR ideas are correct. It shows that the world still has its balance. It shows that you are still unique in the middle of billions of people. Don't get upset, don't get angry. Get happy. Nobody needs to agree with you. You need to prove nothing to anybody, but to yourself. If you are sure about what you believe, there is no need to be offended if somebody goes against you. That's just your opinion, and don't try to make people accept it. They will when they find out that you are correct.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

What gets me sometimes is people who speak of the running mates and who is better to lead the country and then they are the ones who wont vote . My fiance has an uncle who always is bad mouthing and he dont even vote , or speaks who cares blah blah blah ya know . Drives us all crazy and there usually are many family fights . All we can hope for now is an improvement with the country =) Guess we will see ! Have a good one !

That's true. everyone's entitled to their opinion. this is a democratic country but freedom is relative. it is coupled with responsibilities. It's not nice to call names. Let's do it with respect guys!!!

I don't know myself but i do know that there is freedom of speech.... if everyone used it wisely instead of having hatered towards one another's opinion everyone would be better off. I have posted on forums in the past and i have seen rude responses. there were all types of things said and honestly I think that it is childish, maybe someone's having a bad day or just plain ole low down. I think people should learn to be considerate of others feelings!

Well I guess politics is a very much heated discussion in here since I know Americans will have their election in few days. I think the discussion has either became more out of control and passionate when they show their opinion. I guess that is just but natural and I hope that they would calm dopwn when the true verdict has been placed by whoever the majority may become. right now it is hard to see how things will go.
But if you would go to other topics I guess there are lesser rude people around.

I personally love it when people oppose my views. Mylot would be pretty darn boring if everyone agreed with me. I only attack people when they lie, make claims that are untrue, or say something that is just rude and or offensive.
Name calling is covered by free speech. Verbally tearing into someone who resorts to namecalling, is also covered by free speech. As others have said, politics are brutal. Nobody is forced to post here.

I quite agree that people should be able to be civil and polite no matter how much their views differ. Name calling is fairly childish and is usually done when the person has run out of argument so they use insults instead hoping to make the other person run away.
I find it a shame that it happens here but it does and I suppose that politics is one area where it happens. Religion is another area where it happens sometimes if the person does not like hearing other people's views.

mfpsassy hi right on mylot people are rude about anyone having an opinion that does not match their own. this is pretty darned
stupid as we all have a right to our own opinion. We have freedom of speech and if I say I want to see Obama win I should not be greeted with insults and nasty names and diatribes accusing me of being stupid and moronic and etc etc. That is simply my own opinion nothing more nothing less. I do not make fun of others for wanting McCain .that is their opinion, their right of free speech.we adults should be able to discuss without cussing. and treat each other with respect.

Politics has never been about the mild and meek. It can be brutal. Its cut throat and you had bettr have more than just an opinion or you will get chewed up and spit out. But its voluntary. So if you are easily offended you should probally steer clear of politics.
