Should adults try to teach young people lessons, such as the dangers of drinking too much, taking drugs or catch the AIDS virus, or should they leave them alone to find out about these things themselves? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches?

hi i'm not in favor of either of these two approaches. Because, i guess, present day young people don't like to be taught. So teaching them a lesson may not yield the desired result. 2ndly, leaving them alone is equivelent to ignoring our duties and exposing them to danger. In my opinion, adult people should sit with the young people and share their views on different contemporary issues. Adult people, by sharing their experience can help the young persons to make a decision. Regular such analysis of seniors experience will more beneficial rather than telling the younger about the dangers of smoking etc. Lesson is an one way method. I prefer a two way method to help out our younger generation where they too can tell their story. Happy mylotting.

I think it would depend on the adults relation to the child. I would be offended if another adult that wasn't close to my child or had some form of relationship started trying to 'preach' to my child. But in general I believe that adults should set a good example for children and teach by example and real life settings.

Yes, we should teach the younger generations many things if we can. It may save their life. We cannot teach them things we used to do though because the times change daily.
