We own our home and have for about 8 years. We moved into this house 12 years ago. I paid it off in less than 5 years by doubling up on the payments, thereby taking away the interest for the rest of the 15 years loan. We also paid 20% down as we wanted this place. I prefer to own and always have. I'm not going to pay rent to someone else to help them pay for buying a place and pay forever. I'd rather pay as long or as little months as I have to and then own my own home and then have no more payments all the rest of our life. When we are totally retired then we can enjoy where we live by knowing it's paid for and we own it.

I understand you. I have the same problem. But I very want to own a house. So I must work hard. Now I am doing a online work to earn extra money.
