people (babies)who don't have hats. I scanned in two of the six that I have left. If they come up here, they will be below the discussion. If they don't, they'll be in my profile, probably bottom right unless I figure out how to move them. I tried for more hats but only two would go at a time and these are only baby hats! I don't know if one adult would even work! At first they didn't work at all, but I used a white heavy notebook to weigh them down and they did. My sister-n-law has a nephew that needs a hat so I gave one to her.
Have you ever donated your crafts to a worthy cause? Have you ever scanned anything into your computer? Have you had difficulty adding pictures to your discussions but not as much trouble adding one to your profile? Thanks and take care.
It looks like it's coming up! I'm almost there, I hope this works.

You can't upload pictures into a discussion? I know at first you can only add one picture, but once you get replies, you can add as many as you want..(I think, there might be a limit, but I haven't gotten past it if there is)..Unfortunately my crafts are decorative, but I have donated some..Like I had a small shadow box and it just so happen to have 9 squares..so I went out and got 9 plastic pieces of fruit, I think it was 3 apples, 3 oranges and 3 bananas and I had written on there the nine fruits of the spirit and glued them into each box..Then I decorated to border, it was really cute, but I had no place for it, so I donated to this guy who was trying to start an Upper Room at his place, like my one friend had..But unfortunately again, it fell through, and he moved away..I hope he kept it and remembers me, I think he was a good guy, but had troubles like we all do..
anyways, I am going to hit the reply button, so I can see if you do have pics up, if you do, I will comment there..

LOL, I have a set, but no DVD. I bought an oblong one first. I have started, but barely gotten anywhere, with pieces to make into a poncho for the grandbaby. Need to get inspired by you. Thanks. I could have gone and looked on the package. I have never even taken them out. I have crocheted lots of hats in the past.

I did comment on them, they are beautiful..And if you have any problems uploading pictures or anything, you can ask me how, I know how, I just can't for some reason on my profile..
As for the Upper Room, my friends was in the upper area in her barn that they had finished, with heat and carpeting,a really nice place..The guy who I gave this shadow box to, his was above his home, it must have been a place someone made into a sleeping place, because you got there from the side of the home..(Remember Happy Days and how the Fonz got into his home?) Anyways, we call it the Upper Room, after Acts 2 where they sat waiting and when the Holy Spirit came upon them. It was a great place for people with G♥d given talent to shine through..We had dancing and eating and sharing all around..I probably spent the best times of my life there..

The hats turned out really nice. How long did it take you to make one? They look so warm and cozy. I haven't donated my crafts but have given some away to special people in my life. I do have an awful time downloading photos on myLot to add to discussions. Have dial up and it takes maybe 10 min. or more and most of the time I have to do it again. One day it took 5 times to load a photo on one discussion. That gets a bit discouraging. Am sure your donations will be appreciated. Good job!

I was hoping you'd be one of the first, if not the first to reply. Those two are the last ones I made. They came out better than my first ones. I get a little better each time.
I couldn't do it at all on dial-up. Strange how I got pictures to work on my profile first. I took a short picture class on ebay, the scanner one. I still can't find my Digital Cameras for Dummies kit. It's a challenge to make beanie hats flat enough to come out, but the two stocking type caps lay flat. I seem to remember you had problems with your pictures before, too.
I think giving to the special people in your life is wonderful. I just think I'll have so many with all the yarn I was given that I can make both the ones as gifts for X-mas and a few baby hats to people who need them, too.
Right now it's only 4 dollars more a month for broad band, by the end of 6 months, it will be almost double the price. Hoping they either lower it or I am making enough money to warrant it.
If it comes up, here are my two beanie style ones, they don't scan as well and you really can't get a good idea of what they look like. Like the first two I put up better. They have silvery shiny yarn, this is more flat colors. Take care and thanks for responding.

Thanks, they run from 4 to 6 hours because I'm slow and my arthritis is giving me a dickens of a time. If I was young and my arthritis didn't bother me, bet I could pop them out one an hour. Maybe during the summer. But I like crafts in the winter and gardening in the summer. Only on rainy days (high arthritis again) do I like crafts in the summer all that much. Glad you like them all. I'm having lots of fun with my scanner. Thanks and take care.

How nice, they will definitely keep little heads warm this cold winter.
I donate when I can. I have mostly donated quilts I made. In my Etsy store I have a charity section where I donate part of the purchase price to a designated charity.

I like the blue and white centerpiece. I remember, you responded before when I wrote about the yo-yos. Nice that you have your shop here. We both make yo-yos. You now have 11 items in your store. How are you doing there?

I have been thinking about purchasing a knifty knitter. Perhaps on my next shopping spree I will purchase one. I hope to make some hats for my grandchildren for Christmas. Your hats are divine. I have made mittens and donated them to charities in the past. Lately it seems that I haven't time to knit for my family anymore. I am working on an afghan for my sister. I haven't scanned actual work that I have made but have with other things.

Flowers, I could see how I might be able to scan those, but shells. I think that would be hard. How did yours work out?
Oh I see, so the knifty knitters for the round items. OK, thanks and take care.

I'm surprised you want knifty knitters when you can regular knit or did you make the mittens by ridged circle knitters? An afghan sounds wonderful. When my husband and I got married, I lost count of the afgans we got. But we love every one of them. What other things have you scanned? Take care

If you go to www.americanknitter.com, there is a DVD you can buy. I bought one and it is a big help. They zoom in on the craft and show you step by step just like if you had a tutor right there. Trying harder when you really don't understand doesn't work. Trust me, I've been there.
Another site that is cool is www.knittingboard.com, they have some free step-by-step pictures and videos. Mostly for the long knitting boards instead of the circle knitters, but much of the wrapping of the yarn is the same.
I hope this helps you and if you ever get stuck on a project, post a request for help in the craft section here and other places. Usually someone can help you. Take care, good luck, and I hope to see you posting about a project you've completed, too!

Your hats came out great! And a for donating some of your knitting creations to people that need them.
I mostly make jewelry for craft shows and Etsy, but I also knit some & I donate scarf and hat sets to those in need and I have a few scarves I'll be donating this winter, along with a few practically new sweat shirts & winter coats that my youngest son hardly wore (I bought one coat last spring on sale, but my son out-grew it over the summer, so it's brand new)
I have a feeeling it's going to be a rough winter and times are tough economically... I just hope the warm clothes get to the people that need them the most!
Thanks for bringing a smile to my face on a Monday morning...it's great to hear about people who donate to the needy!

I didn't do it for praise, I did want to see what people thought of my hats and I did want to remind people that sometimes other things can be donated instead of money. Even if a person can't donate crafts, there is www.freerice.com and other sites out there. Hats and scarves are a big help. Glad to hear that you donate, too. Not just your creations but outgrown things, too. Have you seen the new neckwarmers? Just wrap and button. Way less material used and stays put better. I think I would be more interested in that. I may try one of those for myself. See how it comes out. Thanks for your response and I hope we can both create and donate until the moment we go to the next life. Thanks and take care.

Ok, OK, I get what you mean. We were just brought up to be humble about doing the right thing, "don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" kind of thing.
Yes, it is getting to be rough with donations: time-very few volunteers now, money-very few people donate money, things-people aren't bringing things, most needed volunteerism is suffering-we don't have enough volunteer fire department people and people had to quit bringing food to the elderly in our area, Meals on Wheels suffered because people didn't have the gas money.
You have clothing bins everywhere? We have food ones, but no clothing ones. That would be nice. I have to work donating into driving somewhere else and swing around to where they take the clothes. For awhile a recycling station was taking them when people were going to the dump, but people didn't bring clean, dry, usable clothing, so they stopped. They do all that and people still don't donate? We would not have donated when I was a kid because I got all my hand-me-downs from my cousins and when I got done, if anything was left, went back to my cousins. But that is the only reason why. Love the donate food in the mailbox days. Can't get any easier or lazier than that. Maybe our discussions will help if we keep reminding people. Take care

But you do need to be commended for giving!
My son's school system had a clothing drive this past Saturday (and it included toys, stuffed animals, etc) Because of an early morning commitment, we didn't get there until the last half hour of the drive and the people working the drive looked very disappointed by the results.
We had 2 large garbage bags that were going to a thrift shop and instead we took those bags to the drive, along with a 3rd bag of clothes and a small bags of toys and stuffed animals.
It amazes me that people will just throw out clothes. Our garbage dumps are already loaded and many of the clothes can be donated to the less fortunate, but rather than drop them off in one of the many bins in our town (every grocery store has bins...and everyone goes food shopping)people just find it easier to throw clothes in the trash.
It breaks my heart to see little ones going without warm clothes and we have saved all of our son's clothes ( at least the ones that weren't destroyed, as boys are apt to be rough on clothes)and every item has been donated to charities or given to friends with younger children.
I don't knit for the praise either, I knit and donate because there are too many children going without and if I can just help keep a few of them warm each winter and put a smile on their faces with a toy or stuffed animal, then I've put my God-given creativity to good use.
You're right. Money isn't the only way to help. A simple scarf, a warm coat or a few cans of food go a long way to people that have very little. We were brought up this way and my hubby and I are making sure that our sons learn this very important lesson of giving to those less fortunate.

That's why the baby knifty knitters are good. You can do a small hat in one day or two. It's the medium and big hats that take longer and more patience. Thank you for the compliments and take care.

I do not put many pictures up. It goes in spurts I guess. I have scanned things in in the past. I have not donated crafts to charity, that I remember. I am not sure if I know what a nifty knitter is, I would like to see a picture sometime. or read a description. When I was much younger we used to make kimonos and layettes for babies in a hospital and group home that my church sponsored. I would like to do that again, but I do not know if they accept them anymore. That was a project of the women's missionary society. I do not know that it even exists anymore.

A knifty knitter is a hard molded round plastic loom including molded pegs. You wrap the pegs, you go around at least 2xs. You lift one loop over the other. The loops go down the middle of the loom and you just keep going around and around in circles.
More on www.americanknitter.com
Kimomos and layettes for babies sounds really, really cool. I wish I knew how to make a kimono.
Take care

I can';t knit, I just can't do it,believe me I've tried. I can crochet though. I've never made a hat but I have made lots of scarves and baby afghans. I made an afghan once big enough to cover a King Size bed, it took me an entire year. It was several large granny squares, and I do mean large. I once made lap blankets (quilts) for the nursing home my grandmother was in. The residents loved them and it was neat seeing them being used whenever I would go to visit.
I have trouble scanning 3d objects also. That's why I so love my digital camera.

I can't knit with needles, but I can with these circle looms. Crochet is nice, I've tried but that hasn't work. This is a little like crochet. Loops and a hook. Lap blankets are cool and bet they were appreciated.

VEry nice!!!!! I really like them. Yes I have done crafts and donated them. In years past I used to crochet mittens and scarves and donate them to the Salvation Army. I don't have trouble with my pictures uploading here....just remember to resize them to small internet size and they load in just seconds.

I'm going to hate myself, but how do you resize?
The amount of time was seconds, so I think my scanner does pretty well.
I'm hoping some day I can make mittens. Scarves I can do.
I think that's great that you did that for the Salvation Army. I hope many more people consider doing that. Thanks and take care.

Sounds like you are getting alot of knitting done. 6 hats, huh? Very productive. I checked out the picture of the 2 hats and they looked like lovely hats. I don't recall ever donating any crafts to anywhere, but my sister knits stuff and donates it constantly.
I haven't really tried to add pics to my myLot discussions, but I should. I have scanned something into a computer where I used to work. It actually wasn't very hard but did have some typos that had to be corrected.

Actually, there was 8, but I gave 2 away already.
Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. I need all the encouragement I can get.
If you have a good scanner, documents aren't too hard to put into a computer by scanning. Other stuff is more of a challenge.
I think pictures really do help some discussions and I have felt like my hands were tied without them sometimes. Esp. with so many different cultures and livestyles here. Plus I see to be into, have, and do things others don't.
I wish the picture and other earnings were still separate. I'm just curious, you know? Thanks and take care

Hi. They look nice and cute. You remind me of my mom. She had knitted some sweaters for me. I've kept all the sweaters myself. Because I'm willing to give them to anybody. LOL...But it's a pity that I don't know how to knit.

I understood what you meant.
Your Mother was a lot more talented than I am. I wish I could knit sweaters, too.
Circle knitting with a circle frame, if you can wrap yarn around a peg and pull one yarn over another, then you can do it. But you end up needing a lot of different circle frames.
Thank you, I'm glad you think they're cute. Take care

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful work that you do. As a nurse who has worked in the neonatal intensive care units, these little hats that are made for our babies are truly a gift. Hi remeedevoe and welcome to Mylot. You're brand new here. Hope you enjoy your time and that you respond to lots of discussions.
That's where I first heard about donating hats for babies. I also heard of donating hats for children, too. The schools and hospitals are hurting for supplies and I don't think people realize it. They just see that their taxes and medical bills go up, they don't have to work under strained budgets. I worked as a teacher in a prison and we're talking seriously strained budgets sometimes, liek when they hired me but didn't give me any money for supplies.
I didn't write this for praise, but to get other people to think about donating, too. One person can't do it alone. I'm knitting challenged when it comes to needles, but when it comes to these circle looms, anyone can. So we need more knitters and that is part of the message, too.
Thanks for responding to my discussion and take care.

Thank you.
I try different designs on the little ones and different yarns because if it doesn't work out or I don't like it or if I have to change, it's not that hard. The baby ones are easier to start with and practice with. We don't have any babies or even children in my family, so I will donate those. After I practice on a style with the baby ones, then I can make some for adults that I will save for Christmas presents. I have one adult one made and I'm working on two more right now. Thanks and take care.

Those hats are awesome! When I had one of my sons, there was someone who donated hats to the newborns. I loved that hat and still have it saved for when he has a child.
My daughter is so excited, a lady at church has offered to teach her to knit. maybe I should go too and learn with her.
I don't generally scan photos to my computer. I really have no idea how to do it and with my luck I would screw it up:)
