I just bought new furniture about 3 weeks ago. I decided to splurge and buy good, expensive furniture rather than hitting big lots for the specials. Well, last night my daughter fell asleep on the chair and when she woke up, she had a stomach ache. She started to get up and threw up on my new chair!!!!! I got the stain off, but I can still smell it. It may be all in my head, but I dont think so. Any ideas on what I should use? The chair is microfiber, dark chocolate brown. I was thinking of maybe putting carpet fresh on it and then vaccuuming it up? What do you think?

I would definitely call the company that makes your furniture. They will have the best suggestion for you. Microfiber is made so that you can wash it, that is why a lot of parents with young kids are buying it. You might be able to wash and hang dry it to get the smell out. Good luck.

It is the covering of the arm of the chair. I haven't even thought to see if I can take it off the chair. Thanks.

Take it outside for few days if you put anithing on it it would mask the smell and god only knows what combination it would mix into. if good old air does not work then get a profesional to clean it as it is new dont play too much with it.

Thanks. I did end up getting it out. I can't even remember what I used, but it finally went away.

It's eazy for me to say because I have a steam cleaner and I would clean it the same as I would the carpet but like I said my carpet cleaner is a steam cleaner and can be used on carpet or upholstery. I wish I was near by to help you. I would try putting Mr. Clean in a pail with warm water and only use your rag after wringing it out good.

Come on over grandma! That is exactly what I need to do, get a steam cleaner. Maybe I can find someone that I can borrow one from. I'll have to email my friends here in my town.

Why don't you try frebreeze or arm and hammer baking soda. They are supposed to be good for odors. If you are able to take the chair seat out, maybe you can take it outside to air out. I am sure the smell will eventually fade away, but in the mean time maybe one of these products will help to quiet down the smell.
Good luck.

Last night after we cleaned it, we used fabreeze on it. This morning I put lysol on it. Tonight it still smelled to me so I just tried the carpet fresh. Bringing it outside to air out should help too, thanks.

Thank you. I am going to give it a try. I am sitting in this chair right now and can still smell it.

Hopefully by now you have gotten the Smell out of your chair by now. I would think that using a Shampoo like you would use on a Carpet, that elimates maybe like Cat or Dog odors, etc. would help. But then you need one of the adjustments from a Carpet cleaner as well. I know it would be Frustrating if it was me as well. Wishing you the Best.

I think that baking soda will do the same thing as carpet fresh, and it'll be cheaper too. Around my place we use baking soda for everything!!

I just bought carpet fresh to freshen the carpets when we got the furniture. I put that on today and just vacuumed it off. It is helping for now. When it fades, I think I will try the baking soda.
