I use a Nikon D300. It just an amazing camera. It has a 51 point autofocus system with 3D tracking. Which basically means all of your photos are in focus! It even focuses on moving subjects as the camera predicts where your subject will move when you take the picture. It also has pretty low noise at high ISO levels. It also has a self-cleaning ultrasonic sensor unit so there's never dust on your image sensor. Plus the image quality is just amazing! I absolutely love my camera!

The "best" camera is the one that suits the occassion! I use a Canon SLR 20D and 50D) when I have a choice, but for a party or celebration, something like the Canon, the Nikon or even the tiny Olympus SLRs might get in your way and stop you having a good time. So if you are at the party as a guest, a pocket camera with a flash might be the best, or one of the Panasonic, Sony or Canons with a 'high sensitivity' setting for parties etc would be better. You can just slip it in your pocket and party on. If you want to be the unofficial (or even official) party photographer, then go for a digital SLR. Choose one with a CMOS sensor and the fastest short-zoom lens you can afford. That way, you will be able to record plenty of highly saleable pictures for the other party goers.

im not a professional but i have tried quiet a few cameras but im pretty much satisfied with my Olympus Stylus 820. Took some time to get used to but it has so many settings that you are bound to find one that is just right for the conditions you are shooting in!
