Does it bother you to be on the road at Christmas? Would you prefer to be home?

Yes, it does bothers me and it feels strange too because it is less traffic on the road. Most people will be with friends and family and you and a few more stragglers are all alone on the road.

If I travel then I prefer it to be before the actual Christmas eve, or Christmas day! It just feels too weird to be away from home at Christmas!

With the petrol prices and not having the need to drive I hardly ever use the car now my friend, probably once a week to go to the gym on a Sunday when public transport is not as regular. I used to travel a few days before the holidays when staying at my parents for Christmas so I would avoid travelling during the holiday period. I have been fortunate in the past that I haven't needed to drive during the holidays.

I much prefer to be at home and its so much more comfortable...so If I visit anyone then I would like to do it well before Christmas....and I never travel around New Years, the crazies are out everywhere, driving all over the roads because they cant see the line and thats because they are snookered....ugh

I actually like it. Considering how high gas prices were this year, we have not travelled much at all. We live 2 and 1/2 hours away from both sets of parents. They all live in the city that I grew up in. So having Christmas there is having Christmas at home. Since we are the only ones of our siblings who live in our area, it seems logical that we do the travelling. I've never had to have all the stress and strain of having to host Christmas in our own home either. All in all, I'm really looking forward to the holidays!

By the way, I really enjoy your discussions. They have a nice midwest flavor. Is that correct?

I have always liked to travel, but now that my husband and I have been married for a year and will eventually start a family of our own, I'm not sure how much longer I'll want to travel. My parents are in Florida most winters, so it's fun to visit and do lots of stuff in Orlando. However, I do miss not seeing snow on Christmas if I'm not at home.

I would love for it to snow. There is a small chance here but it does not stop my hope for it.

I definitly prefer to be home for Christmas. If you have children, than you will understand. There is nothing more special that to see the look on your childs face when they come downstairs and see all the presents Santa brought. I think if you don't have children our a significate other, than traveling wouldn't be bad, for but for a family man, I am at home with my family!

Being home is the best! Who wants to fight traffic for Christmas? Ugh I think Christmas mornings are so special at home.

I can take it either way. If it means getting to see the grand kids, I am glad to go on the road. Christmas is in my heart, and with my family. When the kids were young we did stay home, so they could have time with their new stuff. We would travel during the week between Christmas and New Years, but make sure to be off the road New Year's Eve and Day. That is for safety sake.

I agree about new years, its just not worth the risks. I dont like driving in the rain or sleet either. Happy holidays to you and yours!
