If you were asked to pick one from this two technologies, which one would you pick? A laptop or a desktop?
For me, I would definitely choose a laptop. Not only it serves its purpose but its handy as well. You can bring it anywhere you like it, especially if the place you're going to is wi-fi enabled, or just simply using it as a player or storage of all sorts of stuff that you cherish and treasure like pictures, songs, or documents. While desktops are huge and heavy, it may be stronger but its just bound to stay in one place unless you decided to move it but will absolutely requires more time and effort compared to having a handy laptop pc or a mac.

It really depends on what you need the unit for.
I prefer the desktop, mainly because of the ease of maintenance. I work at home, so having a laptop can somewhat be pointless because I don't need to be mobile for my work. Another drawback to having a laptop is the battery life. True, you could use it anywhere but at some point, it has to be turned off.
It is also very difficult to perform maintenance on a laptop, something I can easily do with a desktop.

@mchavez:
A piece of advice my friend. When it comes to processing power, the desktop is unbeatable IMHO. It is customizable. However, when you need to make frequent presentations to different people a laptop comes in handy.
I would agree that it would be beneficial if you get both, but with the rising prices these days, it would be best for you to see if getting both is really worth the expense.

With my daily activities, I prefer laptop over a desktop. Besides, it suits my needs just fine. Aside from the fact that laptops are more convenient and handy. My Mac serves its purpose and I'm loving it over my brother's desktop computer. I think it really depends o the needs or the activities of the user cos my brother prefers desktop over laptop.

I prefer both desktop and laptop. I need the laptop because its portability and desktop for hi-end specs that is required for gaming and softwares.

I agree with you totally. Especially if you're a gamer, you would definitely need a desktop and on the other hand, if you're always on the go, then laptop is suitable for you. Thanks and happy posting.

Well i would go with a laptop for the well documented reason mobility.The choice really depend on what you are buying the computer for - but a laptop can do just about anything a deskstop can .It has become so advanced in terms of memory and speed so why not take a laptop based on the added feauture of mobilty.

My parents gave me the choice of a laptop or desktop and I chose the former. I don't regret it. I'm the type of person that likes being able to have the option to work on the move. I take my laptop to my friends house when we have projects, I take it with me when I travel, and I use it as home as well. As long as it has good specs, I'd choose the laptop over the desktop.

I will stivk with a desktop.
I've never had a laptop in my many years of computing at home.
So I would be lost with a laptop for the first time using one.

I have both, but if I had to choose just one it would have to be the laptop. We drive a truck for a living and I do not have room for a desktop in the truck. My laptop goes with us allowing us to keep our business records on the computer, keep up with our fuel consumption and fuel tax, access the internet and email. I would be lost without it! LOL
