This is probably very controversial question I admit but I really want to know what people in the world think about this. I live in Europe in my neighborhood live 99% white people. And I know there is still lot of people who have problem to accept people with different color. I am really sad about this I believe this is just because they have not used to this multinational society yet. But this not honest approach appears mostly among older people, among young people this is quite different. They grow up in different environment thy meet people with different skin in schools and realize there are really no big difference among us. Only difference which I could think about is culture difference but this is not a big deal and definitely no reason for any kind of discrimination. So tell me your opinion about this.

I know it exists. I am not racist I accept people for who they ar but I have seen people who are racist, not only against skin color (calling them names and such) but also against people who are gay. To me a person is a person and its how they act that makes them who they are.

Yes I agree with you. Some of my friends are gay and I do not care about that, it is about personality not about differences.

In my opinion I think racism is a completely different subject compared to that of colour prejudices. Racism is a dislike of a certain race of people it has nothing to do with the colour of a persons skin. There are many religions and cultures and this is the thing that needs addressing more I think as all these cultures being brought together is stirring up a whole new can of worms with people having constantly conflicting views. As a resident in England I think racism is getting worse and it isn't helped by the way the government is handling the country letting illegal immingrants and asylum seekers in then handing out our hard earned taxes to help fund their living here. This just aggrevates society and makes them detest other races more. This is a subject that does need addressing but addressing carefully...perhaps the constant spouts of terrorism also fuels anger towards a certain race for example many people I know in england think badly of the muslim religion because of this....it has nothing to do with skin colour....although sometimes I am inclined to think some play on this.

There should be no privileges given by government especially when this privilege is aimed to one category of people, it is obvious then other group will feel handicapped. You were talking about immigration from England, so which country do you have in your mind if any and why that specific country?

Not too sure now...England has such a multinational society now I think people tollerate each other in some circumstances. It's a very critical subject nowadays though and so many try to shy away from bringing it to light. England is in such a crisis financially by the government using our taxes to pay for these immingrants to live more comfortably than the residents that have years and years of heritage here. Many who have lived here years find the way society is very unfair infact i'm considering emigrating when I have enough money...this country will be in ruin soon...and the racism aspect is getting worse and worse. The company my dad works for they won't employ any immigrants as the staff currently working there would be in uproar. I just want to get out and move away....far away.

Yes, it does still exist. It is a shame, but some people still don't see people of other races as equal. My area is predominantly white, too, and I have known people who are against anyone who is a different color.

This is really bad approach I do not understand how can somebody judge other if he does not know him personally.

I live in the UK and it is multicultural. There are racists here and they make me very ashamed. I wish people could live in harmony no matter what race they are. I do not think that it is just older people who are racists. The young learn from the older generation and if your grandparents are racists your parents are liable to be the same and you probably will be too. I am afraid it is human nature to be against someone who is different from themselves and it will never change. Really we should be happy there is a mixture of people.

Yes of course it still exists and I actually think that it has gotten worse with the presidential elections. I don't think that it is right I have friends of every race and color that doesn't mean anything to me. There's no point in judging a book by its cover if I would have done that I wouldnt have ever met my best friend lil cute he would do anything in the world for me and i would do the same for him. I just think its crazy that we all cant get along.

the world is a crazy chaotic place full of changes on a daily basis we can't take it for granted. Looking at someone and seeing a color is crazy you should see who they are. There are bad people and criminals of all races not just one or two. We just really need to step back and examine ourselves and stop judging others.

Personally racism is very dominant in some areas. It is sad indeed that there are so many people like this as well. Where I work, white is a minority, and the way that some of the people from Ethiopia treat us, is unreal. To think we here in the US offer them a chance to have a better life, and then they come over here are offered a good job, and then act like they are better than us. It is SAD and all we can do is hope somehow something wakes up everyone who are like this as well.

i think people who are racists are idiots and ignorance is not bliss to them the color of your skin should not determine the heart or motives of a person it is just an outside to hold what is inside we are all gods creation no matter what color creed tribe we are all one nation under god and we should all live in harmany as one but we dont live in perfect so there will still be some ignorant fols out there it is sad that is still ecist but we cant deny that it does exist we cant change anyone thinking all we can do is work on our selves and try to make the world a better place!!!!! happy my lotting chow for now

Yes it still exists, but I think it's a lot better than it was when I was a child. Maybe one day it will be gone altogether. WE can only hope.

it definitely still exists. i have worked in a call center & most of the calls i have received back then, they would curse us & give us names along with our nationality. i remember one call, they called filipinos "brown stupid monkey". it saddens me of course coz it's practically like a spit on my face. i don't know if i classify myself as a racist coz there are times that i hate them too... i don't know if it's just rage because they hate us, much like of a revenge or maybe it hurting not for me but for our race, our color. i admit there are times that i get pissed off to other nationalities but it's not their color that affects me. it much more on what they do to me & to my country as a whole. it's really the culture & traditions that bring the wall to us but it should never be the color of our skin that should be the basis.

Racism is still exist all around the world and the different is only on the level of racism. Either the people dare to show it or not is the only thing can determine the level. In my country, even all peoples can mixed together very well, we can still see the racism factor in a certain situation. For example when having a job interview. If I'm coming from Race A, then the interviewer is Race B's ethnic and there have one more candidate from Race B then my chance for the job surely will be dim already. This clearly showed that eventhough they're not showing their racism clearly, it is already grow deep into their heart. Even they can openly accept the multinational concept, but their own race wil always be the priority. But on the other side, I think as long as the racism factor will not cause any fights or deaths then it still can be accepted. That's my opinion.

In my country, racism never existed once.Singapore is a multi-racial country and every year we celebrate racial harmony day. IN my country, there are like 70% chinese, 29& (malays+indians) ans 1% whites. Racism can really hurt someone, i witnessed this guy saying this to one of my indian friend in school. He said, "wow! check it out, i see a black figure moving around the canteen, is that a n!gger ghost or what?'. Pretty insulting right? sigh... My friend almost shed his tears but he tolerated because he was a guy.

Yes, I think people are racists but are not that vocal about it. I admit that I am sometimes a racist. Like when I see someone who's really dark and big, I'll think he's a goon. But at the same time, if I were an employer, i wouldn't turn away people just because of their race, skin color, height, etc. I'll make sure to give everyone a fair chance first. But I can't help form preconceived notions about people just because of their race.

I think it clearly does still exist in many ways. So many people are still discriminated against for many reasons. Its really sad that it still in 2008 exists but the fact is that it does unfortunately.

I think racism still exists in the United States. There are lots of people who don't like Obama to be the president of their country. Let us just find if Obama will win the election. In my case, I can accept any race particularly black because they are still human beings. The only difference is their skin color. Other than that we are all the same.

This is sad but here in Japan, there's is a silent racism/discrimination especially those that are from poor/third world countries who came here to work...they are paid less that the nationals and they benefit less, indeed very little compared to the nationals. Some bars do not accept American customers coz they said they are obnoxious. Some Filipinos are already marked as "omise girls or buy me drink girls" already...and some stereotype do not respect foreign girls like russians coz they call them as gold diggers. Other stuff like that is sad to hear but it is happening everywhere mostly coming from people who are uneducated, no respect or from people who had been victimized and had phobias and tend to be stereotypes. However, people are people wherever we are..we deserve equality, we deserve respect. We should demand this but we should also be deserving by acting accordingly.
