I recently purchased an Olympus E-410 and was looking at purchasing a telephoto lense for it only to find out that they designed a new 4/3 lense. Normally I would be thrilled to find I had a new technology that might be better than others, however, it also means that I cannot find a low cost lense! Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

When I was looking for a DSLR I looked at the lens and decided to limit my search to Canon and Nikon because of the ease of obtaining lens. I have purchased some excellent third party lens and am very happy twith them. I Choose the Canon Rebel to start with.

Any Olympus, Leica or Panasonic 4/3 lens will fit, but so will earlier Olympus lenses. With the 4/3 format, you have a crop factor of 2x. That's an advantage if you want telephoto lenses (150mm becomes 300mm, 300mm becomes 600mm) but it's a pain if you want wide angle optics. Since tele is what you want, you will probably be ab le to buy a longer, faster lens than you expected from the Olympus pre-4/3 lineup.
