I am real sad! My star has taken a drastic dive!

Man, am I sad or what. Yesterday I have a reddish 9 in my star (93 points). Today when I logged in, I found that it has changed to a yellowish 8 (84 points). I have a drop in 9 points over one day. What happen? Only god and the admin can answer my question but I think I cannot get an answer from both of them. The admin will be too busy to answer my question while I think God has better thing to attend to. The funny thing is when I didn't log in for a month ago, my star and points stayed in their position. Did any of you give me a bad rating or did I post in some area that can make my rating drop?

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your star drops in 9 points. First I didn't rate you negative, lol. The only reason I know when the star rating drop is you might upset some member and they rate you negative. I hope someone would explain it to you better. Thanks!

CJay77, I won't be angry even if you rate me negative. I would be happy that if you rate me so and told me about it. It just proves that you have the guts and substance to tell me about what you did to me. Not many people can do that and they won't want to let others know about their misdeed. For me, I also have the heart to accept constructive criticism being thrown by others. Good or bad, I will stomach them as I believe it will make us a better soul in this world.

Hi flowerhorn! To be honest I can't even remember if we interact before but if we do and I just forget (sorry). I never use negative rate even some people doesn't agree with my opinion, I respect the others opinion here and I think that we can't please anybody here. I do understand that your sad and I hope that your star will come back up. Thanks!

I am sorry that what I wrote above made you think that I am referring to you. Actually I think we haven't interact before and with the way that you wrote your post, I am definitely sure that you are one of those friendly and helpful people in Mylot. I can read it in your post that you are also a nice and caring individual who wouldn't want to lay any harm to even an ant!

Well the only way that it can drop is when someone gave you a minus. I just do not understand why some people like to give minus to others just because they do not agree with the point brought up by another person or when they feel that the other person's English is not so good and based on some other petty stuffs... To me, I would only give a minus to someone who is outrightly rude and show no respect for others. Other than that, I would either give no rating but normally, i would just give a plus especially to those who took the time to write a respond to my post even though sometimes I could not really understand what the person wanted to say in the first place. I just want to appreciate the effort and hopefully motivates them to keep on posting. So, do not worry too much about your star and I hope that it would go back up real soon and I am going to give you a plus to help your star move up to where it was before or even higher. Cheers!

Thanks for the consoling words here. I would be lying if I said that I am not sad. After all, ever since I joined Mylot, my points has never drop before. i guess I just have to take it and never to be too vocal or provocative in my postings here when I answer other people threads. I am also the same as you as I don't give others a minus rating in their posts. If there is nothing good to say about other postings, I will reserve my judgment and won't go to such an extent to give other people a hard time to get even at them. Anyway, I am sure hope that those who rate my posts negatively to stand out and give me a reason why do you do so. Do you know that i might give you a positive rating for such a frank action?

No problem and it is my pleasure to try to cheer you up as I have been going through the same thing when my star went from 91 to 81 and just because I do not agree with some people's opinion. Take it easy okay. Cheers! and thanks for the best response!

I know it concerns you so much about your star but I tell you not to worry about it since it gives more headache than what it suppose to have. I was there and been there. I was enjoying my blue star fro more than a week or so with 97 reps and over night it became a falling star, drop to 9 and the next day it's 8 with reps of 82. There are 2 possible ways why it happened but only one reason which is by rating you a negative in your discussion or your response. It happen when a member don't agree with your opinion which is a lame reason of giving a negative rating. The other one is someone is playing a game with you and all of those you don't have any control at all. That's the reason why I said that it's more of a headache than what it intends to have a purpose. Lastly, I have never given anyone a rating anymore.

It maybe harsh and cruel but is there anything that you can do about it? Is it really the appropriate way of establishing your reputation here? I am not trying to question you here but was just simply asking. I was there before and been voicing out my frustrations as well then I came to realize that it can be so easily manipulated so it doesn't matter to me all and I don't care of it anymore. I am still able to receive BR every week and that would mean to me that someone still like what I said and I'm going to say what is in my mind in the right way and in the sense not making any arguments at all. You won't hear anything from them. They won't come out of the woods.

How I wished I could be as open minded as you. As I am an imperfect human being, I really can't stomach such a drop in my star. I am really mad when I was told by some of you here that the drop is due to the fact that someone gave me a negative rating for the responses in some of the threads here. What did I do wrong? Am I really so provocative and give other people a hard time? Am I so rude and ill mannered? Well, I will never get the answer if the people who gave me the negative rating do not come out and let me know. How I wished they come forward and let me know what I did to hurt their feeling.

Don't be sad I think it is very normal in here in mylot.. I had experienced same with you last week,I also lost my star.. Actually, I had earned blue star (rating 10) but since I'm too busy last week I didn't able to visit here and post discussion for a few days (2 days exactly) then when I log-in and post a discussion last Friday I was just shocked to see my star turn back to red star (rating 9).. Same with you I also feel bad about what happened but I realized that rating or stars are not that important to me at all since I joined mylot not because to have a good ratings or have a highest star (which is the blue star) but I want to earn money and to have a friends to share it with my ideas/opinions.. So, no matter what is the color or number with my star I don't care anymore, what is more important to me now is to earn, post and response good discussions and meet and have friends..

Kissie, do you know that a higher star rating will give you more money earning potential here? You will be able to get more with a higher star rating. By the way, your star rating won't dropped if you didn't visit here for a day or two. Why am I so sure. Well, actually I didn't visit Mylot for 3 weeks, And when I come back in recent days, I still find my star rating at number 9. Guess I have made myself some enemies here who gave me a bad rating in the replies I posted in their thread.

Really?? I really don't know that when you have a good ratings the more I earned more.. Well, actually my earnings are still the same when my star is 10.. Well, maybe someone put rate me very poor that's why my rating goes down.. i don't know.. Anyway, its ok even I lost my 10 star at least I'm still earning and I didn't lose a friend in here.. Thanks for the reply..

you loose your ratings only when someone gave minus for your comments. but usually i never see to my star ratings. it does not depends on your earning too. but the reason for your both deletion is, if you write mini posts for discussions. i dont have the habit of rating negative to anyone. but sometimes i give a positive rating, if i like anyone's comment!

Hey Raghul, if you have higher star rating, you will be able to earn a little bit more in the response that you post here. At least that is what I have been told by many people here. So a star rating also has its usefulness aside from the fact that it shows the quality of our post and the interaction we have with our fellow members here.

I really am expecting to join you real soon, flowerhorn. The last time this happened to someone who went down from a 10 to a 9 I responded by saying something like "Dont worry this happened to me once, I dont think it really matters." (Not my exact words, but to that effect)Do you know that the very next thing I knew was that I had suddenly dropped from a beautiful blue 10 to a 9.Red is a lovely color, and I missed my blue 10 but I will say it again "Dont Worry" and I am not afraid myself to go down.!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!!

i am so sorry to hear about what happen to your star... i think the only reason that your ratings can drop so much is because somebody gives you negative ratings in your posts or responses... but my advice is not to let your rating upset you so much... it is only a rating anyway and it won't affect your income at all... so you don't have to worry so much... just try to enjoy yourself here and have fun... take care and have a nice day...

Lingli, we will never find out whether the rating will affect our income or not unless the Mylot admin come out and give us an answer. In fact, if there is a way to find out who gave me a negative rating, I will go for it. Don't misunderstand me. I am not trying to get even but I want to find out why they gave me a negative rating. In fact, I am thinking of rewarding them if I find that the causes are reasonable and valid.

What a shame and sorry to read that your points and star rating have dropped. I am not sure why it happens but probably because you have received some negatives from other members. It is silly that some people will give a person a negative rating because they do not agree with what is being said/written. I can think of a couple of reasons to give a negative rating to someone and that is if they use profanit or abuse someone else or even just give a couple of words as a response. Although I have never given anyone a negative myself, I can see those being the only reasons for anyone to do so. If a discussion is so bad that it deserves a negative, then maybe it is better off being reported and let myLot decide whether it is acceptable or not. The one good think though is that your star rating can also increase again and that is bound to happen in time as you start more discussions and make more responses to others. Good luck with your star and points ratings.

Well, the only thing that I get from this is I am going to stay awake tonite pondering who in the world would gave me such a negative ratings. Am I so despicable to many people here? If yes, then I better change my attitude and learn from all the nice people in this forum.

Subha, do you get the number right? Are you saying that your point was 90 before it dropped six points? It seems that most of us are irritated and bothered by any drop in our star points. how I wished we could see who gave us such a drop! No, I am not trying to get even with him. I want to thank him for making me feel so bad !LOL

Now I know that many people also has their star rating dropped. It just proves that you will have good and nasty people. So if you don't want to have a drop in your rating, I guess you must be very careful in your response here. So of us here are so nasty and won't think twice to give a negative rating which will impact our star rating to those replies that are not to their liking.

I think that I know why, there are people in the political discussions that will rate you negatively depending upon your postions. It does not matter if your arguements are sound, they are rating purely on political party. That seems unfair, but it has happened to me also.
• Malaysia
4 Nov 08
Yup, you are indeed right. Political issue should never be discussed openly as most people are very firm with the party that they sided. So when the other person who does not share the same opinions as their, they won't think twice to rate you negatively. Thanks for the warning and I shall always keep it in my mind.

That's a really big big numbers taken from your points here. Maybe someone gives you a bad rating which is the reason why you dropped your stars into 8(84). Coz some people here when they don't like your discussions or comments they give your eally really negative rates. So next time you should be careful. Cheers.

Yup, I will have to be careful the next time I answer the thread here. If not, my star will continue to change its color and my points will slide like the trend as experienced by the oil price in the global market. I shall remember this lesson for good as I have chosen to learn it the hard way.

You will get a star when you have made 100 posts in this site. Star denotes the quality of your posts. If you post very short post such as the one you made here, you will get very low star rating. And you might even earn less with a lower rating star. However, you still have a chance to make the star rating goes higher as you post more quality and longer posts in the site. Star rating fluctuates all the time and you will get a lower rating if someone rates you negatively.

Hi there Flowerhorn! I'm sorry to hear that. It is controlled by other mylotters. It just means that you got some negative ratings while you were away, maybe from some of your old posts.

I don't think that the negative rating come from my very old posts. It must be the posts that I made yesterday. If not, the points won't drop today. For those who rate me negatively, I challenge you to stand out and let me know the reason.

Oh boy I know how you feel. My star went from a 10 to a 8 in one 24 hour period. I couldn't believe it either. I didn't do anything wrong to have it drop like that so I don't know why it did. I never broke any rules or responded to something that got deleted. So I can only' guess that someone didn't like me and went around and rated me with negatives. Now that 6 months have passed I am still at an 8 star even though I post a lot and post long responses. It just doens't want to change for me. I am not going to worry about it anymore though because it doesn't mean anything when it comes to our earnings. Alrighty then, talk to you later, your friend Chris.

I rarely rate discussions but I gave you a plus just to cheer you up. When I got my first star it was a four. I guess someone did not like my posts. I too do not see the point of rating negatively unless the poster is too rude or irrelevant. I think if you rate you should be at least nice about it. Just rating someone with a negative because they happen to disagree with you is petty and unfriendly.
