Looks like this year it will be my sister in law for us. She will be coming here. This is going to be a nice thing. I don't feel up to cooking the holiday meal this year. * months pregnant is not the time to be cooking all day IMO. So who is doing the cooking? How long will it take you/them to plan?

Oh don't even remind me..lol I am the one who is always doing the cooking. My husband refuses to go to anyone house or anywhere else to eat Thanksgiving meal Not in the 18 years we have been together anyhow. I am the one that sets up for up to three days getting everything started so he can eat like a bird..lol He has to have what he wants also..the pies, cakes, cheesecake,Turkey(for him) Ham (for me,not a big turkey eater)deviled eggs, homemade cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, potato salad, cole slaw,Macaroni salad(sometimes), rolls(homemade),green beans(from the garden we put up.)gravy and a few other things...and sometimes we will have my parents and little sister over which we might this year. But my husband won't eat anyone's cooking but mine or takeout food.

I am coming to your house there will be plenty to eat and all my favorites there. It would save me from having to cook. Joking...haha! Your thanksgiving dinner sounds like mine. I do all the cooking and both families usually come to eat at our home. I love the holidays and we are the only ones with a big enough house for everyone to be comfortable. Wishing you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

i live in Canada. we had our thanksgiving oct 13. i was the one who did the cooking. i was about 3 months pregnant with twins and had very low energy. my husband offered to do the cooking, but i declined. i like to cook, so i cooked the meal. we had his parents over and 1 of his friends. we had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls with butter, green bean casserole, layered vegetable salad, jellied cranberry sauce. for dessert, we had pumpkin pie with whipped cream. since i did the cooking, my husband did all the cleaning.

We all usually try to pitch in and make different things. This year my mom has to have some minor surgery though so she won't really be able to cook much or clean her house for that matter since we usually have it at her house. I told her I would come clean her house for her and my grandmother and I could cook and then my aunts could bring some things too. But we may end up having it at my grandmother's house because she said something about having it over there. If that is the case then I will go over to her house and help her cook most of the food and just let my aunts bring some other things.

My husband and I both will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. We used to go to my moms but I like having it at my house. It is alot easier and we can take naps after eating LOL and my husband can go hunting.

That would be me. I still have to figure out what I will be serving. I will start thinking about that maybe next week. It will take awhile for the Turkey to cook, but I should get everything else done in a few hours.

I'll be doing the cooking this year. Last year I started doing it again - it's been about 10 years since I cooked Thanksgiving dinner and I really miss it! I'll probably have from 15-20 people, mostly my husbands family, but maybe some of my family too. The more the merrier I say!!!

I'm not sure. My grandmother used to cook the meal along with my mother but my grandmother has alzheimers now so I'm not sure what is going to happen. I'll probably end up being stuck with cooking quite a few things this year along with my mother. However I know my mother isn't that reliable so I'm not sure what will happen. I thought Thanksgiving dinner wouldn't occur last year but it did happen so I'm not sure.

Don't know, really. I mean, I hope we can visit both sets of grandparents for Thanksgiving...since we haven't been able to do that for years. But if not, then it's either me or Mom who'll end up cooking. Planning doesn't take that long. Just a couple days, and we do it mostly on the fly because our family isn't very big.

We are going to my sister in laws for Thanksgiving. I will probably help out as much as I can but for the most part I will leave the cooking up to them. It will be nice to not have to worry about what to cook. I feel bad for not being around my family for Thanksgiving though and hope we don't do this every year.

My mother may have to encourage me to cook through the holidays, because she expects me to learn all the ingrediants for cooking a Thanksgiving meal from scratch.

I don't think that I will be observing Thanksgiving. I probably will choose to spend the day working, trying to earn more money so that I can have what I want-- a space of my own again.

For the past few years I've been doing holiday dinners at home myself. We used to go out to his sister's a few years ago, when she was married and wanted to show off to everyone. It was really quite irritating.. but that's a long story. Well she usually insisted on everyone being there, us, her parents, her husband's parents and all his siblings (6 total in that man's family). So one year for Thanksgiving she tells us dinner won't be until after 7pm because one of her husband's siblings had to work that day. Well her house was a 45 minute drive, and we had little kids, so we chose not to make the trip and have dinner at home. That very same year at Christmas... well I had recently found out I was pregnant and was still going through the morning sickness phase. The sight, smell, or even thought of meat sent me hurling. I was gearing myself up for a big Christmas dinner, and even welcomed the thought of a small bit of ham or turkey or whatever she chose to serve. Mostly I was looking forward to some salad, stuffing, yams, and whatever other side dishes would be served. I didn't eat all day because I was hoping for such a large dinner that would really fill me up. So we get there and she serves lunch meat sandwiches!! Of all things!! Now I previously worked in a deli, so even if I'm not pregnant I'm very picky about my lunch meat, and she served very cheap meat which I just cannot eat, plus I was not all that excited about a sandwich. I ended up not eating and demanded we leave within just a few minutes of getting there. It was so disappointing Since then we've just had the dinners at our house. Most of the time we have no company, I actually prefer it that way since I don't get along with his family very well. Sometimes we may invite his parents, but that's it, and it's rare.
