Have you ever had any broken bones?

When I was fourteen years old, I was riding my bicycle against traffic (a big no~no on a one way street) and I was hit by a car as I was turning the corner. As a result I had one broken right femur right thigh bone. I was in the hospital for about 10-14 days. It took my leg bone about 9 months to heal. About another 9 months of physical therapy. Boy did I not like being couped up in the house for all of that time. Although, I kinda enjoyed all of the attention I received, after all I was just (fourteen). What's you story of the bones in your closet? Any of them ever got broken, and how long did it take for it to heal? Which bone was it? Share your details.

I had a taurus fracture (bending of the bone) in my left forearm from falling on my roller blades going down a hill. I fell backwards and my body kept going forward as I landed on my hand trying to catch myself. My mom didn't believe that I needed to go to the hospital (36 miles away) and made me wait until after she finished eating dinner and everyone ate before she took me there. I was told that a taurus fracture is more painful than any other fracture or break, apart from your bone stabbing out of your skin. It's a good thing I have a very high pain tolerance eh? lol It took only 6 weeks to heal, as the bone just had to grow back straight mostly.

I'm one of the lucky bunch that have never broken a bone or had any serious injury. In fact, my worst injuries have only been pulled muscles and I'm very thankful for that. I do occasionally wonder what it's like to break a bone, and there are those rare moments where I actually want to experience it (o_o). But they pass very soon afterwards. =P That accident must have been painful. :o I can't imagine not playing sports for so long!

At 17, my neck and jaw were both broken in a car accident. That's it for me! 36 years later, arthritis in those areas and in my lower back can lead to some pain, but I survived. The weather and barometric pressure plays havoc with pain!

I smashed my ankle when I took up skydiving so that stopped that hobby. It took forever to heal as it was a bad one, it seemed I was in a cast forever and needed an operation to stick everything back in place. I dropped a large piece of wood on my toe and broke it, nothing was done to that which the do nothing for toes these days. It was painful for a long time but there seems to be no long term effects.

When I was 15 I was in a car addident and broke my Left femur bone! I didn't take as long to heal I was only in the hospital for 9 days and only reason I was there that long was the other injuries I had sustained. I was on crutches for about 9 weeks and then I was allowed to use just one crutch like a cane for about 3 weeks. Physcical therapy was horribale. I rememeber doing all those execrises they hurt so bad especally when they would say just a little more! I remember when it first happened and I was laying in the emergancy room saying to my cousin just move my leg a little bit I am trying and it won't go. It hurts - she said to me I am going to put 2 fingers under your leg and if you still want me to move it I will. Needless to say I screamed and she didn't move it. Thank the nurse for that "pain killer!"

It is really bad to know that you got injured this way. Hope you would have recovered by now. It happend with me twice, many years ago. My left elbow got broken in an accident, while riding a bicycle and my arm was plastered for 4 weeks or so. It was very painful to carry the plastered arm and it was also difficult to sleep.

broken wrist - Ouch, my wrist was broken in three places
I was in a car accident in 1989, and broke my left wrist. It happened on april 1, so I guess the joke was on me, what a painful price to pay. Oh, I am watching the news, and Obama was just declared the winner. He is the next President of the USA. Congratulations Barack. Now on with my story I was driving and was hit as I was making a left turn. My car was totaled and of course I broke my wrist. I was in the emergency room for seven hours, and had my wrist rebroken and set there. I was in a cast for eight weeks, and had therapy for three months.

I've broken sixteen bones. Each time it happens, it just sucks. I have to wait in the E.R., get an X-Ray, and then get a cast. It just sucks. I hate when it happens, because it's usually me doing something stupid.

nothing broken bones happen to me.but my younger brother wasn't so lucky.five year ago,he started a agricultural tractor ,when he wagged the handle, the motor suddenly moved reverse, the metal handle crashed his radio bones.and into the hospital and received an operation,.it took about two months to heal it.when i visited the hospital and looked at the lying brother, that's miserable.so there is a scar left around his wrist.

Oooh that sounds nasty, that must have been so frightening for you. I have not exactly broken a bone but I have had a fracture. I was on roller skates at the time and I was about 9 or 10. I took a tumble and used my hands to save me, and it really hurt. I went home and told my parents and my dad was adamant that it was fine and proceeded to twist and turn it ignoring my cries of pain. He thought I was playing up in his defence, I was a bit of a devil. Anyway after about 2 hours he relented and took me to the hospital where I was told it was a fracture and had to have a cast on it, I reckon my Dad must have felt a bit guilty for a while after!

i broke my wrist once an dhad a plaster on it for a month. When the plaster was opened, the writst was thinner than before. it took a long time for it to return to normal. I was told by the doctror to ride a geared scooter immediately so that the wrist gets some exercise and heals faster.
