Can deception sometimes have good results?

Well, I was browsing the internet for a good SAT prompt to write about and I stumbled upon this:
Can deception - pretending something is true when it is not - sometimes have good results?
I'm not asking this for answers or shortcuts through my essay, I'm not even writing on this topic, I'm simply wondering what you believe. It's a thinker in my opinion. =P

Deception can have good results if it isn't discovered, but that doesn't mean that it's right to do so. It often seems easier to trick others into thinking something that isn't true in a situation, but is it correct to do so? I don't think so. It's lying, and I think that lying is never correct.
Many people use deception because they don't think about whether it's right or wrong, but I, personally, would never go around telling the truth in order to get out of something. It might make the other person feel better if they believe what I've told them, but it would not make me feel good. I don't feel comfortable with this. =S
Your question is a thinker though, because if you were to ignore the fact that deception is wrong, then I would have to answer with a "yes" - deception does have good results sometimes.
At what cost? =P

I suppose it could be possible. Maybe if you pretend you are someone different and meet a good friend because they like you, although you would have to tell them the truth in the end, so that might be bad.
Maybe you would get burned by the pretending and you would learn from your mistakes not to ever do it again, so this would be good.
I think being honest is the best option, though sometimes it has bad results too.

Your second point is pretty good. I hadn't thought of it that way. =D As for your last sentence, I was debating with myself whether or not I should have added "Do circumstances determine whether we should tell the truth or not?" but ultimately decided not to. =P
Thanks for the reply. ^_^

The are some people are like camouflage outside their being. We can never control the universe to have a peaceful place, since some used to corrupt the minds of innocent souls. I do believe in bad karma, it will be the next thing to happen for those who are insensitive to the welfare of other people.
