Why bother lying?

I have noticed this before on myLot and I noticed it again a few minutes ago. Why do people bother going around starting discussions that are lies? I just responded to a discussion from someone who was asking for cheap meals because her family is so broke and she needs to feed her husband and 3 kids and then I see another one by the same person saying they are 14 (their profile says 21) and wanting to go on vacation. Why bother lying?

probably because they need to lie in order for people to notice their discussions or its a way for people to help them or give them something that would really benefit them like money or something...

That is what I was thinking. I see this on other sites also, well, not no more since those kind of "nice" people, helped the sites close down.

Hi lilybug. That's a sad case. I think these individuals are just too greedy for money and payouts that they just don't care what it takes to achieve that--they'd even lie, cheat and steal for that. But since this is a free on-line community, we can talk and discuss about anything we want to--we only need to be responsible myLotters.

This is not cool in the least! I have seen a few of them that are like this. I figure it's the fact that we can't see them so they can say what they want. It sucks but it's real. Good thing we DON'T know them in person. I love calling out liars!

There was one on here a couple weeks ago where the guy was saying that he wanted to find out how to help the needy on the internet bc he felt sorry for them and then one hour later posted a discussion asking people to send him money to his paypal account cause he was broke. It was very odd...

OMG, I just saw the profile for them, and it's true. Not only making multiple accounts but accounts with the exact name minus the numbers. How weird is that???

hi , i think we need to report those kind of things. Mylot is a very legitimate site and we must act to protect this site from those kind of persons. They are nothing but scammers and they should be ban to this forum.

usually, people lie when they want to present a different front of their lives than the one actually is. maybe he/she doesn't like her life the way it is, or it could be that he/she wants a little bit of attention from people. i see no other reason for lying. i hate to tell lies myself, and would only resort to lying if i thought there was no other option, or if the person/s concerned would benefit from my lying about something. a lot of people lie because they might have mistakenly done something they shouldn't have, and are afraid of other people's reaction to their actions. they might not feel themselves capable of facing the consequences and therefore just lie in their defense. i think everybody lies to protect themselves at one point or another, it's basic human reaction. unless, of course, you are unbelievably and exasperatingly humble and truthful...
happy myLotting

Hmmm... I can't really speak up for these people but i guess they're just thinking "this is virtual anyway" Maybe that gives them the idea that some mylotters wouldn't bother with the truth. I myself don't lie anyway, not only because I've got friends here who knows about my life, but also because I am a fairly transparent person. And for me, lying will only get one to big troubles. You know, how a big trouble starts from a small lie that's getting bigger and bigger and uncontrollable? Oh well, we really can't stop others from doing so, it's their prerogative and it's their bad too if they're caught...

I think they just want to post a lot of topics as to earn more, and perhaps these topics aren't from themselves but copied from someone else.
The things people do to earn more ey? Even if it's not right anymore.
What's more sad is the fact that they're trying to trigger our emotions and yet we certainly would feel betrayed when we find out that they're lying about everything in their posts.
Whew..
Oh well.

Oh I think thre are a lot of liers around here. There are some men masquarding as females too. If you see the discussions started by them it is cearly evident and they are getting cheap thrills out of a discussion posing as a woman. Anyway there is no way to stop them. just have a good laugh at them.

some people wants attention.Or maybe this person wants his discussion to be noticed and to have many respondents.it really happens. So we must be very careful in choosing friends here in mylot. In my opinion the population of mylot users can be group as follows.
1.those who really wants to earn here in mylot while enjoying the perks it offers.
2.those who enjoys answering discussions, having friends.
3.a combination of 1 and 2.
4.those who are curious.
5.those who are hunting for referrals for the other sites they are involved with.
6.scammers..beware of them..
i guess the one you croosed path with belonged to group six. They are the ones who lie to get something from others.we really should be cauitious with this kind of people.
Have a nice day.

Some people lie in thier discussions in an effort to create a dramatic feel .This is done to increase the number of respondents and ultimately their earning on mylot. This is sometimes hard to detect so the best you can do is continue to respond honestly ,offering advice where necessary in the hope that you reach someone who earnestly need your help. I know that this invariably improves the liars earning but alleast some good may come form your advice .So its the greater good I suppose we should aim for in this case.

When you see that kind of discussion or people next time just ignor it, do not answer it anymore. I do not want to be rounded by some liars.
Let's find them out and kick them out of here, make mylot a clean site.

Hi! I'm a newbie here. Was shocked to know that there are people who will do that just to earn a few bucks. What's terrifying is some compassionate people here might fall into their trap and give them money or something.
Anyway, thanks for the heads-up lilybug! Really, you can't be too trusting these days.

I don't know maybe they are bored. Or just trying to be controversial. Maybe they want to see if anyone will notice. Either way it can be annoying. Good eye to catch it though.

Oh, god, I have never noticed that, perhaps I am a newer and log on mylot not so long time.
Is that cheating way can make big money, do they live on posting and responding? What pity, let them do that, I don't think they can live better than us.

those who lie will be bothered by lie in future.
they will lie again and again to cover their lies.
at last, they will be fed up.
this is the fact in the real society
I think it's similar on Internet
