I can't say I read any of his books, but I saw more than a few of his movies and was a great admirer of his ability to make a GREAT story from a science tidbit. http://www.popeater.com/movies/article/jurassic-park-author-michael-crichton/238941?icid=200100397x1212853923x1200824145

I have. Read & really enjoyed all I saw of his work. Heard the news an hour or so ago. Said a prayer. Goodbye, Michael. Sad to see you go. R.I.P. Maggiepie

I surely shall. Is Clarke still alive? I know he WAS after the huge tsunami in Sri Lanka, but I haven't heard much SINCE then.... Maggiepie

I know I was surprised that he passed - I knew he wasn't that old - just shocking since he hadn't had let his fans know he had cancer.

That's sad. I have several of his books and have seen all the movies! I've enjoyed them all and consider a couple of them to be among my favorites. I could read or watch Jurassic Park a hundred times and still love it. Come to think of it, combined I probably have!

I've seen a number of the movies based on his books. I've always been impressed with him, but I don't like scary stuff so I've avoided his books - like I've avoided Stephen King!

King, ah yes. He really annoys me sometimes. When he's GOOD, he's VERY VERY good, but when he's BAD...so sad. Very uneven; every other book it's that way. I also dislike his tendency to product-place actual brands in his stories. It's supposed to ground me in reality, but it has the opposite effect on me. I'm IMMEDIATELY reminded I'm reading a STORY, because it reminds me of REALITY! Maggiepie

What can I say, it is shocking. 66 years old is too young to die. I must say that he had an incredible talent and that his body of work stands as a testament to his life. I think he will be missed, I will miss his writing. I will add my sympathy and prayers to his family.

Well _I_ can say 66 is too young! (I'm almost 61! LOL!) Before you say that, just remember David "Mac Daddy" McCallum! As far as I'm concerned, he'll ALWAYS be too young to die! Gotta love that man. Sigh.... I wonder how HE would've voted were he a citizen? He IS Conservative... Oop. Forget I said that. I KNOW how YOU feel about politics! ROTFLOL! Maggiepie

I read that on AOL news and just saw it on TV news. It is sad because 66 is not old to me. I am 54 and that is only 12 years away. It is always sad to lose anyone, including such talents as he was.

He was quite increadable. That is why I felt I should let people know of this loss. Its the second loss we have had in American writers this week.

Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I seen another discussion about it a while ago also. He did really well with Jurassic Park.

Hi ElicBxn, I have read most of Michael Crichton's books and see most of his movies. He was a very talented writer. My prayers are with his family in their time of need. Have a nice day..

I was so very upset to hear of Michael Crichton's passing. His books were very enjoyable to me & I enjoyed the movies adapted from his stories as well. He went to medical school before becoming a writer - I'm so glad that he decided to write instead of be a doctor. We would have missed so much. Rest in peace, Mr. Crichton.

I so agree with that fact. He was a great writer and he had such a good way to take some science fact and write a great novel with the fact.

That is very sad to hear. 66 is to young to pass. He was a very talented man. I loved the Jurassic Park movies. I hope they find a cure for cancer. It takes way to many lives. I wish his family strength in the coming days & weeks.

I have lost my father and a good friend to cancer. I would love for them to find a cure for cancer. They were both younger than 66, in fact, my friend wasn't even 50.

well, you know, and I know he wrote science fiction, but they put his stuff in the fiction section, like Dean Koontz and Stephen King.
