As most of you regulars know, I am not a democrat or a Republican and the guy I was supporting didn't win. However, I want to take a moment to congradulate Barak Obama on his win and for what should be the pinical of the dreams of people Like Rosa Parks and Martin luthor King. Congradulatins, you've arrived and people who fought and died for racial freedom can rest in this great achievement.
I have been trying to come up with some positive aspects to an Obama presidency and here is what I have so far:
His promise to repeal the patriot act and a number of other executive orders.
His promise not to fool with the second ammendment.
His oposition to the fairness doctrine.
Maybe now we can dispense with the stupid myth of institutional racism.
No more campaign commercials or campaigners at my door.
News coverage of something else besides elections.
My youngest daughter no longer identifies herself as a Democrat.
I can now look forward to more choices in the next Election, maybe.

Yep there are some bright sides to look at.
No more robo calls
No more people knocking on my door
No more commericals
No more infomericals
Those are good things. I will be very pleased of Obama gets rid of the patriot act. I will wait and see on that one. But here is hoping.
I am sure we have lots to talk and debate about in the next four years.

I love your last positive, xfahctor, and I do agree with most of them. So many of those executive orders slipped past without even a single comment by any in the media.

You are right, it is better to look on the poisitive side of things and hope for the best.We are Americans and we will vote again.I dont see myself as either party either , I just want what is really best for the country.

Xfahctor,
Not to rain on your parade but I believe that the first item of business for the next congress will be the "fairness doctrine". I believe it is at the top of Nancy Pelosi's list of things to do and now, with an almost "veto proof" congress it has a real good chance of passage.
On the brighter side, maybe we have a majority of supreme court justices who will determine that the "fairness doctrine" is a violation of our first ammendment rights! (which it most definitely is)

Very nice post. Thanks X. Although I thought executive orders were hard to undo once they had past a certain amount of time?
One thing you forgot was that Tina Fey can now move onto something else lol

And she has announced that she is retiring her Sarah Palin persona and moving on to other things. Yay!

"why doesn't your daughter want to be a Democrat anymore"
3 words mainly...o ba ma. lol
seriously though, she just doesn't feel the democrats represent what they used to even 8 years ago, she says "theres left...and then theres looney". She was really disapointed the 2 front runners were Clinton and Obama. She kinda liked Bill richards but the rest she said just weren't worth it so she "cringed and supported....m...mm....mc....McCain" she's a pretty independant thinking kinda kid, she's liberal, but describes her self as a sensable one, she thinks the party needs another Jefferson.

Well, I can respect that. I, too, liked Bill Richardson, and actually, my husband had hoped Obama would have picked him as his running mate. Of course, now we both realize that that probably would have been a mistake, and that picking Biden was the best choice for this particular situation. I have said before that I do have respect for John McCain, and I don't think he's the worst Republican. Lol. However, his choice for a running mate left me feeling less than satisfactory, and I found myself losing respect for him and his party throughout the rest of the campaign. Although, he did regain some of my respect near the end, once he realized that he wasn't going to win anyway. Oops. Did I say that out loud? Lol. Actually, my first choice was Mike Gravel, but I knew he didn't have a chance because he seemed to be too honest and too old. Lol.
