Do you enjoy being the first to see a movie?

When I was younger (before kids) and had "money to burn", I enjoyed going to pretty much any new movie that I could. Now that I am a bit more discriminating (and on a budget) I tend to wait to see the reviews before I will purchase a ticket. I "pass" on a lot of movies now. It has to be something really compelling to me before I will go.
I know there are some people who really enjoy being first to see a new movie. They rush to the theaters to catch all the latest releases. They love to make up their own minds about the movie without the benefit of reviews.
How about you? Are you a true movie-holic? Do you just have to RUSH RIGHT OUT to see the Latest movies?

Hi.
I used to be a guy who would go to all most any movie on the release date, but because of some miserable movies I ave seen over the last three years I have changed the pattern a bit. Now I let the movie roll in the theaters for three to four days, then pick up some newspaper and look at the star ratings and a bit of the story line. If then I feel there is something for me in the movie I go to the ticket counter.

It always depends on what it is, and whos in it. That is how I will determine if I should rush right out and get it or not...lol Sometimes I just wait for it to go to blockbuster....because I am in their membership!Happy my lotting!

pretty granted. i rush for a movie only if i found it's worthy enough. those futures such as impressive story, great technology, and notable actors or actresses should be the first thing we must think through before we buy a ticket, i think. happy enjoy your movies!

I'm much more discriminating about going to se a moviee. I do wait for reviews and then go to see something. I usually go with other women friends and we buy popcorn and make it a wonderful evening out but this happens maybe once every 2 months. Only if we really want to see something. Have a great day.

I really should. My very best friend moved away about 3 years ago. She would have been the one to do that with. I do have lots of other girlfriends from church that I spend some time with. I recently joined a book club. I've been working in so many ministry activities at church (I just stepped down from our women's ministries team after 5 years), that it will be nice to just have some fun with friends. You are very kind to think about me!

Why not just plan to go to the movies with some girl friends. However enjoyable it is to see movies with your family, it is good to go out with women friends. I always think that women need women. Make a little time for this and enjoy yourselves by being together in fellowship. Good planning!

I don't usually rush in watching movies because like what you said I'd like to see the reviews first but usually I know when the movie is worth it to watch just by the trailer. I think it's a matter of intuition I guess. . If I feel like it's not a good movie I just simply don't watch it at all or I'll just wait feedback from my friends.

It definitely IS expensive. It's so much cheaper for us to rent a movie for the family. My son has a paper route and therefore a little spending money. He will often pay his own way and go with a friend now (he's 14).
Thanks:) Have a great day, jo.

I am a movieholic from my home! lol. We rent all the new movies practically every week but we're not big on spending $20 just for us to see a movie. So we are addicted to movies but on a budget. I enjoy watching almost any more. The only ones I can't handle are the super gory slashers.

Hi. I'm not a movie-holic, but I do love watching movie. I seldom see the reviews. I prefer to find out what people have seen them think of them first.

and also i like to see movies that have been recommeded to me so i know they are worth going to see.

I love to see movies before anyone in my family does. Sometimes I even tell them it was bad when it wasn;t just so we have something to talk about when they finally see a movie.

There are some movies that YES I wanted to be the first.
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Chronicles of Narnie
to name a few. Some other moives I have gotten free prescreening tickets for. Those are always fun to go to. Man there is a lot of security when it comes to those.

I usually wait until it's on video before bothering to watch it, mostly because of finances and time. If I could see movies in theaters whenever I wanted, I doubt I would listen to reviews on it, I'd just use the trailers to decide if it were something I was interested in or not. Usually I'll see a preview for a movie and think I have to see it, regardless what the reviews say of it.

I was one of the first in line to see Titanic when it came out, but I generally don't like going to the theater. They are always crowded and full of rude people who either talk too loudly during the movie or just ruin it by freaking out during the scary parts. There is always going to be at least half a dozen people who don't think the "turn cell phones off" rule applies to them.
I am a member of Netflix and love getting movies in the mail. So much easier and more convenient.
