I am starting this thread in hopes we can each share some easy ways to help save energy and protect the environment. It does not matter what your idea is, but I want to hear. I will start with my one(actually I will do two):
Instead of watching TV, read a book. This saves electricity as TV's take much more energy than lights do. It's also good for your brain.
Watch a movie at home instead of going to one. I like this because it saves gas, and you can spend quality time with your loved ones, and talk during the movie.
What are some of your ideas?

I have started to unplug all appliances that are not being used at the time. I unplug my micro wave, the tv in my bedroom basically anything that I do not us often. I think this will help in decreasing my electric bill as well. I wash my clothes by hand instead of taking them to the laundry mat, this also helps me save money and gas.

Plant a compost.
Why should you have to throw everything away?
Many fruit discards, newspapers, egg shells, etc. can be placed in one ventilated bin and eventually it will decompose and you can use it for soil for planting....
your organic garden!
Which is the second thing.
It's cheap, easy, and really healthy.
Certain vegetables are always "in-season" in your climate where you live.
Tomatoes, eggplants, oranges, grapefruits, peppers, etc.
Recycling glass, paper, plastics, and electronics is another thing.
And a lot of this, your local recycling place will give you cash for large amounts of each.
And yes, turning off the television and reading a book, getting outside, etc. helps. Not only good for your electricity bill, good for your mind too - opens your eyes, and they're not glued to a bright box the whole day.
