Recently I am having deep and dark doubt about my own beliefs. Without going much into details, I would assume that anybody who has gone through the same experience understand that it is indeed a very hard period in life. I would like some insightful discussions and advice on it.

I think for the most part spiritual systems are meant to help us in our dealings in everyday life. I believe that they are all guidelines for how to best navigate in this world...often I see folks taking their faith to one extrem or another...
to be spiritual is to be close to god and to the earth, I think, you can be good and honest & happy without having to believe everything that your faith dictates...some things that are used as laws in some faiths are really added by regualr men after the fact of the faith being established by its prophet, these rules and laws are man's, not god's...
So whenever you feel bad or you feel like loosing faith, draw inward the love of god that you have...and look at it with your own eyes, if your faith is asking you to do something that does not feel RIGHT then do not do it...
God is about love and peace, stay in that place and you should be ok.

I dont honestly agree that I have had doubts about my beliefs. About whether I was following my faith correctly, and that I was going far from my beliefs, yes. I am the type that prays at all odd times of the day, and feel very connected to my creator. Maybe that helps. Whatever religion you are from, if you unquestioningly accept good and bad, connect to God at least once during the day and study and understand your religion, I think you dont need to have these dark spells. Good luck!

i also sometime feel there are many things which are deviating from my own belief. from childhood I am taught, that being honest actually pays. But my case no. I am losing many things in life. rather the crooked people are getting all. its difficult when you have to fight with yourself.

I do think that emerging from your own doubts acts as a sort of catharsis. I have gone through this before, and i think it purifies me, and strengthen my belief once i overcome it.

I went through a period of time where I doubted my own beliefs...it took a couple of years to sort through it all.
Unexpectedly, this movie helped me tie it all together: www.zeitgeistmovie.com Free for online viewing, or download and burning.
