Hallo there. I was just curious as to how many MyLot users are playing video games and since when you are doing that.
I myself, well I started playing videogames when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I still remember that I got to play my uncles Atari 2600 every time I visited him. Later he gave me the Atari 2600 because he wasn't using it anymore.
Anyway, my next gaming system was a Sega Genesis and after that I got a PC so it became my main gaming platform. I decided to get a Playstation One a few years later because I liked the games and one of my friends had one at that time to. So we could share our games and game saves. I still remember how we were playing Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy together on it. MGS was something really awesome back than when we got to play it because we hadn't played anything like it before.
And Final Fantasy 9... oh, we all liked it even if we had no idea what the story was about because it was a Russian version and no one of us knew the language.
Good old days. Anyway, I got a PS2 and 3 after that. And I bought a SNES recently. It really has a lot of great games.
Anyway, how long have you been playing video games and why do you like it so much?

I started at 7, when I used to watch my cousins play the ps1, I was too scared to play myself though.
But then I got my own ps1 and I started playing that, and like you I started getting other consoles such as ps2 and nintendo and DS.
I just can't get enought of final fantasy!x and x-2 are my faves! Dance dance revolution was a fave too XP

I don't know why but I prefer the old Ps1 RPGs. Maybe because of their chibi like style. FF9,The legend of dragoon and Breath of Fire are my favorite Ps1 RPGs.
Its not like I wouldn't like the Ps2 FF games but I preferred them when they had turn based battles and text bubbles instead of voice actors. :/
But I stll can't wait for FF13 and FF13:Versus or whatever it was called. :)

Yh I liked the ps1 RPG games too, the chibi characters were cute!
They still do that kind of FF style in DS format though :D

I was probably in my teens. I'm 51 now. But I started out almost exactly like you. Starting out with Atari 2600 which was given to me by my brother after he grew out of it. At that time I said that's as far as i'm going. My friends had the Sega Genesis which he paid $200.00 for. I said I will never get that, Atari was good enough. Then years later, I saw one, brand new in a store for $79.00. I didn't mind paying that! Later, I got the Sega CD for it, I think for about the same price. I said now this is definitly enough. And it is. I won't even get a playstation 1, and I bet I could find a good price on e-bay. But I still love the Sega Genesis and CD and I have a bunch of games. If there was a system that could play all the Sega CDs, nintendo and playstation games, I might get that.

I started playing video games when I was in first grade. The first game I ever played was Contra, the first part of that two-game series. I loved it, because of the cheat code. Anyone remembers it?
I have rented and played through each and every console that ever came out except for the Atari which came out before I had an interest in video games. However, I never owned any of the earlier consoles because, well, I had no money to buy one. The first serious console I ever owned was the Playstation 1, in which I played a lot of games including Metal Gear Solid (the best game for me, forever), Tenchu, Final Fantasy 7-9, and many others.
Right now I own a PS2 but I haven't gotten around to playing it that much.
So, now I'm 24, I started at 7, so I've been playing games for over 17 years now! Wow! Time flies fast.

I remember playing Contra at my friends place. I never was that good at it. :/ Also there is going to be a new Contra game for the Nintendo DS. I am just not exactly sure about the release date.
Yeah time can pass really fast sometimes. I sometimes get this feeling like I would have just played Doom and some soccer game on my old computer just a few days ago. And thats probably around 8 or 9 years ago. .

I started at around 7 or 8 I think. Got hooked in with Super Mario Bros 3. When I got my first NES of my own I got Final Fantasy without knowing anything about it and glad I did. It started a life long interest in RPGs. I still like a lot of other games too but nothing beats a good RPG you can beat on for 40+ hours.

well i started it at the age of 10 dat was TV video game and i used to go to my friends house to play. Slowly I got addicted and went to his house everyday. But after 3 years in 2003 i got my own PC and was so addicted to games that i started buying PC Game CD almost weekly. I mostly loved football and strategy games. I kept on buying new games that my drawer was almost full in 2006. I was addicted to Fifa02 to 08, and the manager one also. In strategy i was seriously addicted to Age Of Empires all four and Rise Of Nations. I also liked city building games like SimCity 2004, Ceasar, Rise of Emperor. In action i liked to play Call Of Duty, Return to castle wolfenstein, and other hard games Delta FOrce 1-3........but my first game was Lego Racers and Toy Story. Now i am in a hostel i seriously am missing my games.

Running out of disk space. I remember that problem. :D My first computer had a 4 GB hard drive and my first 2 games for the PC were Sega Rally and one of those Tomb Raider games. It was probably TR 2 or 3.
Sega Rally was a great game back than just like Tomb Raider. I think that I have even my Sega Rally CD's somewhere lying around. The problem was that I could barely install a few games on my computer and my hard drive would already be full. :)
So I ended up begging my parents for a new hard drive. I ended up getting a 40 GB HDD which looked insane to me back than.
Funny how some things never change. 8 Years later and I still have problems with full HDD's even with a 500 GB hard disk drive..
But than I shouldn't really wonder because some games can take up to 12~20 GB of space. .

I love playing video games , but have not been able to play any since my little one was born 2 years ago. He just will not let me. Grabs the controller and turns off the tv. It is kind of cute. He wants all of the attention. he does stuff like that when i am on the phone and stuff too.

I remember the time when my parents had bought a Sega Gaming Console for us. My brother and I was very excited. I was like 6 years old back then and my brother was 8. As far as I can remember, the first game we've played from that gaming console was Sonic the Hedgehog (it turned out to be our favorite). We got hooked so we asked our parents to buy us more games to play. Then they bought us Robocop, Aladdin, and the other two were a racing game and one with a helicopter (forgot the titles).
Anyway, regarding your question, since I'm turning 20 soon, I'm a video-gamer for almost 14 years now.
My Gaming Console Timeline:
Sega, Brickgame, Gameboy, Family Computer, Playstation, PC.
My next target is PSP. Yeah, I know it's quite old but I love that gadget so I'm planning to buy one soon.

Yeah Sonic is a great game. I remember playing it on the school computers a long time ago. Together witch Commandos and Mortal Combat. But it was a little weird that we had those games on those computers considering that 3 or 4 out of 5 games were kinda brutal and were probably M rated.
I was thinking about getting a PSP to but I always end up buying something else. Like a dreamcast last year or a SNES this year. o.0 And now I don't the time nor the money for a PSP. :(
Well, the longer I wait the larger the amount of available games on the PSP will be. :)

Oh yes, Pacman! How could I have forgotten about? It was also one of the first video games that I've ever been exposed to. It was simple to play but when the speed starts to get faster it's quite difficult to control that big mouth gobbling up those dots and fruits! Oh,the good old times.

We had an Atari when I was a kid but my mom got tired of my sister and I arguing over it and she literally threw it out the window. I played Sonic on the Sega Genesis at my friend's house from time to time several years later but I've never been very much into video games. I'll play now and then but I don't have a lot of patience for it. We have a PS2 for our kids now. I enjoy playing Burnout with him from time to time, but not that often. Guitar Hero looks fun. Gaming was never and never will be a major factor in our lives. :)

Yes, I've played from time to time, but I definitely don't consider myself a gamer. I go weeks and even months between playing. They just don't keep me entertained for any length of time. In fact, most games irritate me after just a few minutes. I'd rather read a book, though I don't have much time for that either.

Yeah, story is a important factor in games. At last for me. Sure I will play a game that is simply fun even if the story isn't that great but I simply love games with a good story.
And some games have such a bad story that it becomes good again because it is so funny how bad it is. Also, coming up with a new original story isn't that easy since most things have already been done in other games or movies story wise.

I started playing video games when I was probably 7 yrs old. The first one we had was the original Nintendo system. I have three brothers so we fought over it all the time. As the years went by we had the Super Nintendo, handheld Nintendo, Playstation 1 and 2. I got a gamecube after I was married and now we have a Wii and two Nintendo Ds's. LOVE MY WII! Im obsessed with Mario Party! I also play some video games online and am a member of pogo.com. Couldn't live without my games!

Same there. I love games but they can be sometimes a curse. Mostly when I have something important to do like homework. I end up sometimes playing games instead of doing my homework and doing it after the game can be sometimes a little hard because I would rather go back to playing the game instead of doing the homework. :/
