Have you ever hit the wrong button?

I don't normally start a new discussion so soon after I posted one. However, tonight while going through one of my current discussions I accidentally awarded someone with best response and wanted to let everyone know it was a mistake. As soon as I realized what I did I hit the stop button, but it was too late. BR was awarded to this person. That just sucks as I had a couple of people in mind that I was debating on giving it to, and now this happens! UGH! I guess that is what I get for mylotting late at night...
Have you ever given BR to the wrong person? Did you ever wish you could take it back?

I have wish I could take them back before especially when a better response comes along. But it is a mistake that maybe if you contact mylot they might change it for you. I have had best responses come unmarked mysteriously so maybe they can unmark it for you?

I've had the same thing happen before too, though it was some time ago that it happened. I could ask, though I don't think would do any good. I could just hear admin now..."be careful who's response you mark with BR."

Oh yeah, I do hit the wrong button some times.
But it is not for the best response award.
Most time it is the tagging of discussions and responses.
Being too quick on the keyboard, I tend to go type type type... tab tab tab... enter... type type type... tab enter.
Sometimes I make a mistake and try to go back to correct the error, only to hit the tab button instead of the caps and then do the enter. And that is it, the discussion is posted without the proper tags.
Sometimes it is the backspace, which will literally bring the browser back one page, taking away all that I have typed on the discussion I am replying to. And I gotta start over for that post!
It can be frustrating some times.

I do hit the wrong button most of the times when I'm in a hurry. That totally sucks and instead of getting things faster I end going back. In mylot I did had that experience too. Instead of hitting the respond button to a discussion I accidentally responded under another response and I realized it only after I have done the response. Hehe. Duh!!! ![](/Content/images/emotes/angry.gif)

I think I did that once! I do know of a time I accidentally posted my response to a discussion in someone's profile instead. Talk about embarrassing! I sent them a PM and explained what happened, but I don't think they ever deleted that comment... ![](/Content/images/emotes/blush.gif)

Hey that's funnier than what happened to me. Lol. but hey everyone makes mistakes and if we take it lightly we find that being human and imperfection isn't so bad and can be fun. Embarrassing moments they may be but we get a good laugh now and then when we look back. I made lots of bloopers all my life and even my boss is confused how I take things lightly sometimes even with my temper. When I make a mistake, I'm totally angry with myself and even if the boss fries me for the errors, I always manage to sneak a smile or smirk and laugh it off. hehe. ![](/Content/images/emotes/rasp.gif)

Yes, that is what you geet for your late night mylotting. As new to this forum, i only had a few responses and few opportunity to give BR. Till now, i have not given it to a wrong person. But i get confused when i see similar response to a discussion and sometimes get confused as to whom i should give BR..

When this happens I usually just give it to the first person that had a similar response. After all, they came up with it first. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

That happened to me before as well. Though the majority of the time this isn't the case, but the photo may not upload anyway. ![](/Content/images/emotes/blush.gif)

Yes, I have givena best response. I wish I would have waited and gave to someone else. But that is okay I guess. I now wait a little longer before I hand out best responses. Do people get more points or something for best response?

No, I don't think they get anything for it other than the pure satisfaction of something thinking their response was the best.

Hi sacmom,
Sometimes thing happen, I don't know if you like this person or not. But I would look at this way, if you don't know that person, and he/she got a BR I bet it made this person happy. What I would do is go find the person's name who you wanted to give it to and just give to her for another discussion and tell her that it was for the one before or send her a private message.

I don't think I've ever doled out the BR to the wrong person, but now that I've said that, I've likely jinxed myself into doing just that. LOL!
I would be frustrated with myself too though. I can understand how you feel. Perhaps emailing the people who's responses you had been considering for BR would make you feel a bit better? lol.

Be careful CanadaGal, you probably did!
LOL
Perhaps. Though I would have felt better if I wouldn't have made such an error in the first place. ![](/Content/images/emotes/surrender.gif)

hahaha!!! I experienced the same. I suppose to give best response to the person next to him but I hit the button.. Oh!! I can't delete it, I just close my eyes for regrets why I am so careless? he doesn't deserve it but.. anyway, we will just be careful next time.

It happens and I would not let the person know so they do not feel bad. I think some people give BR too soon. I wait until time has passed a bit before rewarding one.
Well, if it was me, I won't be insulted.
LOL

I agree. But maybe they do so, so that they don't make a mistake like I did.
I personally like to wait about a week before awarding someone a BR. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Even same thing happened to me few weeks back. I accidently gave best response to a wrong person. Though it was a good response, but there were few more responses which deserved best response. I felt very bad that day, i felt like it was just like cheating those who spent thier quality time for my discussion. But i have not told that person that i have given best response but a mistake. Because even i dont want to hurt him saying that.
After that i am being more caustious about selecting best responses. Because these people deserve that, they always been good for me always try to write more interesting responses. Anyways i have to be more carefull in future, hope you too be carefull. Have a nice day ahead.
Regards,
Jnk3dfx.

I have done that so many times. It's frustrating I have been trying to pay more attention to it. I have definitely given it to the wrong person and wanted to take it back immediately. But I am like you and sometimes I mylot late into the night and that gets me into some trouble!

I wouldn't have bothered starting a discussion on the matter, but I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea as to why I gave this person BR.

Oh, I've done that before and it wasn't even a GOOD response, let alone the best one... Or I'll have my mouse somewhere else, thinking it's in a different place and end up hitting the wrong button. Or I get really carried away and hit the submit too soon.... And this happens when I'm wide awake, not just late at night :)

Apparently I did it the other day. I was looking over a discussion I had started just a day prior, when the screen changed to the next page. I thought I must have done something to it, and when I looked, the discussion then had a best response. It was a response I had not even read yet, because I hadn't gotten to that page. My conclusion is that I must have pressed enter by accident, because I don't believe I was even using my mouse. When I did read what had been marked best response, it wasn't the best one, but it was still pretty good, so I felt better about it.

You bet I have not just on the + and - buttons but on the submit button and on the back button too. I get going and not paying attention to what I'm doing and then I end up messing it up. I've done the best response goof a few times too but there's not much I can do about it so I just keep on going.

I've done all those too at one time or another.
It's a shame we can't take it back after making such an error. But like you said there is nothing we can do about it. ![](/Content/images/emotes/surrender.gif)

I wish there were an editing button.....besides BR sometimes I make typing mistakes that takes away from the response etc....I have given BR to the wrong person....It's when I have alot of responses and mark it and forgot about someone towards the end.

I do too jill. Maybe mylot will eventually incorporate it for those that have a high rating, say over 1000 or ever 5000 posts. After all, since there is a copy paste function there should be an edit button too. Just my opinion. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Yes, I have hit the wrong button before too. But I didn't worry about it because marking
the best response isn't one of my priorities so it wasn't that important to me.
I wouldn't want to take it back anyways, so it is okay for me. The best response doesn't
do anything for a member anyways, according to Crash. It has no affect on our star
rating or our earnings. It is just a thing we do to give someone a good feeling about
work.
I also mark best response because I like to have my discussions all resolved so they
don't show up in the unresolved file. I like to keep a clean house and that includes
here in mylot too. hehe
Alrighty then, talk to you later,
Your friend, Chris
