Would the world be a better place if everyone had the same religious beliefs [or lack thereof] as you do?
In truth, I don't think it would be if everyone was without religion like me. I can decide right from wrong and calculate consequences without anyone else's help. I create my own life philosophy and I feel just fine this way. I think we all feel as though we need guidance once in while. But then again, I think that when someone has a religion, the fear of god, or karma, or whatever it may be helps them to be good and keep society running, even if they will occasionally sin, it will help give other people a conscience about it. I don't tell other people to abandon religion to be like me, but I do wish some would lighten up and have fun, though. I don't think anyone who lacks a conscience and sense of right and wrong can really understand how life should work and make decisions, and it is good if they have religion to help keep him or her in line. I think that mankind would probably survive if there was no religion though, because I'm sure there would still be plenty of central beliefs on what is right and wrong and what should be tolerated, and what is going to be bad for society and the consequences behaviors would bring to the rest of the world. I know that religion can make people rage and kill as well, so that would not be a problem.

I admire ur way of thinking sheepie.as an atheist, it doesn't mean that one can wonder around and breaking the laws of society.but that also doesn't necessarily means that's okay to make the whole world under one or none religion.
Because religion implants values in our minds when still young.values that respects the law of society. It's mostly about love, respect of other beings, and not doing anything evil.
And some people, need different, more convincing way of praying and living. Not like other people who don't need religion to tell them the "do and don't" in life.
About ur last part,i can only say that the religions are being conducted by non-religious people.
PS: i'm a very spiritual believer.but i wrote about the influence of religion on the behavior of people.

It's amazing how people can dismiss God so lightly from their lives when they themselves have so little control over whether or not they're even going to wake up tomorrow morning! Indeed, we have little control over what our lives will be like in the next second! For those of you who say, "yes I do have control over my life and what direction it goes, over my existence, because I make the choices that will decide these things", please keep in mind that we can do all of this ONLY if our Father Wills it and He grants us the continuation of life.
Thank heavens that our Father is a loving God who wants only life for us; a Father that doesn't cut us off, even though we do a grand job of excising Him right out of our lives (even if we are believers, we all have been guilty of cutting our Father and His Son Jesus Christ out of our lives at some time or another)!

I guess that would be ideal to really remove religion in our society. Russia did that when they adopted Communism as their form of government. They preached that there is no religion but in the end they allowed to have religion but is kept in control by the government but they were not able to totally get rid of it in their society. Vietnam did that too but now religion is slowly creeping up in their society as its people still seeks something spiritually in themselves. North Koreans are also practicing atheism but now they seem to become more a cult than a form of government The government is imposing an almost praise and total blind worship to their leader. It is more like their leader is their God and all. I think our world is so much varied in tradition and culture and it is really hard to have one common religious belief at all. All of the religions tried that but they never succeeded during the times they used that as a form of conquest and used it as a reason to control a certain nation and it also doesn't work because eventually the religion they spread also evolves to their tradition and culture as well.

We can only know the answer if it is better or for worst having one religion when it happens. To my opinion, human are borned with differences and difference in intelligence alone will be a big factor to hinder a common objective. Unless we are all morons with no consience and freewill to object in everything that is required of that imposed religion. Maybe , if that is the case, religion will not exist but better called as government, for religion to me is nothing but interpretation of belief and if without variety, there is no other opinion to contend with. Sometimes, i was wondering to group of ants walking in line, working laboriously and not one of its member falter to its assigned duty. It looks like they are better of than human. Don't you think so?
Just a thought, happy mylotting.

i dont think it would make any difference in the world if everbody had the same religous beliefs as me.
i also do not follow a religon like you.
people would find other things to war about if there was no religion.
not everybody who is strictly religous is bad. it is only certain individuals.
so if you took away religion there would still be these 'bad people'.
and remeber there is good and bad in us all.
happy mylotting

It wasn't my intention to patronize or offend with my comments. I was merely speaking my mind: the same way that some state they do not believe in our Father, I state that I do.
My point is that with or without religion, there has to be a basic and common foundation that everyone shares if this world is ever going to come together. It has been proven that this will not happen with people alone -- it will take a force bigger and greater than us to accomplish world peace. In my mind, the force is . . . you guessed it . . . our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

I don't believe that would solve any problems that currently exist. There are many problems amoung people in the same religious belief and in the churches themselves. So I don't think it would be enough to have the same beliefs. People are different with different ways of things even in the same secs of life. So there would still be problems.
It would be nice if we had no problems and it is a valid dream to hope and wish to come true.

I'm not really sure what to say to this. I know that it would be nice if we all had the same beliefs but I don't think it will ever happen. I just wish for peace amongst all of us.

I think if everyone was Pagan, like me, the world would probably be a more tolerant place to live in.
people would have a good moral upbringing, and respect for the world around them.
rather boring though.
difference in religion is just one of those things. in an ideal world we'd all just ignore each others religious beliefs and see each other as the human animals that we are.

The world would be boring. There would be no spiritual growth! In order to mature and become a part of your heart, your religion must be challenged and tested. Otherwise you're just a sheep. (Pardon me, it's a common term for a person who does not use the brain that God gave them but blindly follow whoever is leading)
I enjoy talking with people of different faiths. It gives me insight into what God must truly be, not what my feeble imagination thinks he must be. True, there wouldn't be any religious wars if we were all one religion but then we'd have to find other excuses for wars--humans will always war, it's their nature. Once we conquer our baser nature, THEN the world will be a better place!

Hi Sheepie,
Good question, but I don't think it will make any different as people would find something else to use just because they want to kill and fight.
