I do the wrapping myself, it makes me so happy doing it. When my girls were younger, i used to hide in the bedroom while wrapping their presents but now that they have become young ladies, they help me with the task and it is one way of bonding with them.

some years down the line, you and your daughters might find yourselves hiding together in the bedroom wrapping your grandchildren's presents =)

hi magicslate
i like to wrap it by myself, although i'm completely sucks at it

if i compare my wrapping to others, my wrapping would be shapeless.. hahaa
i don't understand why, even if i slowly and carefully wrap it, it always disappointing myself
hahaa.. ;-P
recently i seldom wrap all my gifts ..
mostly shops now has a good looking shopping bags
so i just gave it with the shopping bags, but move the price tag and bill invoice first

well, shapeless gifts are not always disappointing. i have an aunt who's not very particular with how she wraps presents, sometimes even ending up with ones that have gaping holes in them. the kids never seemed to mind though, and we adults share a good laugh looking at her masterpieces. :P

I wrapped all the gifts myself... since no one is available to help me out... and it is too expensive to have them wrapped professionally or to buy those ready bag types...
I just bought the gift wrap paper last Sunday... and i plan to start with the task last week of November... so i would be finish before December 25...

Back years ago they used to wrap presents at the store for free. We kids loved watching that and I grew up hoping I'd some day be able to get a job doing that!
Then when we'd wrap them at home with mom, me and my sister would save all the scraps (and with my frugal mom, the scraps were few and far between and about as small!) but we saved them nonetheless, then we'd go "play" store and use them to gift wrap whatever we could find that would fit the wrapping paper scrap!!
I let my kids do their own wrapping if they wanted to and they usually wanted to. And now that they are grown and gone, I am back to wrapping them myself, and try to buy (thanks to the Dollar Store) unusual wrapping paper pattersn - one for each person. I have 2 grand daughters and one gets her presents in the My LIttle Pony paper and the other gets hers in the "Disney Princess" paper or whatever I can find. They really enjoy it and then we will cut the specific design (like the princess or the ponies) out of the wrapping paper and they use them as "die cuts" to make a picture or in their scrapbooks or just as paper dolls. We do get alot of mileage out of our wrapping paper
Then with any paper that is left, I line my pantry shelves with it and the girls love it when they open the cabinet in February and see the characters that they love!

they still wrap presents for free in some stores here if you buy things from them amounting to a certain amount.
thank you for taking us with you on your gift-wrapping journey from childhood to grandparenthood! you have very creative and fun ideas, your children and grandchildren are lucky to have you. =)

Actually, i guess I have not seen that instores - but then again, I don't shop Macy or those kinds of department stores that always did it "back then", although "back then" it was Broadway and May Co!
I have found it is great being a grand parent as much as it is to be a parent! Wouldn't give up those two jobs for anything in the world!

I love wrapping presents. I usually wrap all of mine way before Christmas and then go and wrap for my mom too.
I actually have thought of opening a small business of wrapping gifts for others, but haven't figured out how to go about it yet.

my partner and i are almost done wrapping our presents and we'll most likely be wrapping for my mom, too. even if we're not particularly good at it. hehe.
i hope you push through with your gift-wrapping business, it's great when people's jobs are also sources of joy for them. =)

I used to love wrapping presents, it was one of the best parts of christmas. Now though I find it the worst! I have four kids so it can be a complete chore these days. I keep putting it off at the moment, but time is running out so I really need to make a start on the wrapping bit real soon.

someday, your kids might join in the gift-wrapping, just like the children of some of the others who responded to this post. then maybe you'll come to love wrapping again. =)

I love wrapping gifts and during the holidays, it is one of the things that I look forward to. It is a way of putting my personal touch to the gift. Nowadays, having the gifts wrapped to special stores are quite expensive. Although there are malls that offers free gift wrapping, I have to fall in line and it will eat my whole time in the mall that I could spend shopping. I really enjoy wrapping gifts for my friends and family.
Christmas is just around the corner. Advanced Merry Christmas!

I also wrap my presents most of the time. Its time consumming yes but it added a more personal touch and a lot more cheaper than having it wrapped in the store. And part of enjoying the christmas holidays is gift wrapping. I havent perfected the art of gift wrapping yet, but I can say that I'm getting there, hehehe, but still have to sacrifice a lot of wrapping materials to perfect this art.

I normally wrap presents myself mainly for two reasons...one being that it's more personal and the other and perhaps most obvious being that it's cheaper. What with the economic crisis going on throughout the world here in England i'm finding i'm having to tighten my belt a little more each week to afford the cost of living. Just worry Christmas could be very expensive this year.

if i could have it wrapped for free in the store i would have it wrapped. though some stores have some restrictions like you have to purchase a certain amount (P300 for Robinson's) for free gift wrapping or you have to stay in the line and watch your gifts being wrapped (leaving is not an option) like in toy kingdom. however, if i find the gift wrapping skill of the crew lacking or bordering sloppy, i will opt to wrap it myself.

I loove gift wrapping.. its like an art and being an artist its what we do.. making an effort not only in buying gifts but also wrapping it makes the gift more special and valuable..
