It was making me crazy.

I do agree some of the mylotters won't read the complete responses in that discussions. That was okay if it has more number of responses. Even if it has more number responses, we must read at least first page responses. Am I correct.
I am observing a discussion from yesterday, and it was misleading topic. I just want to correct them so I posted my response. I make it as a challenge to me, I commented the first response with the complete explanation as my response was some where in fourth page.
Not only mine, three of the mylotters also commented the same in the first response.
Now the discussion is running at eighth page. And out of 40 responses which are given after my responses, only a few (hardly five) members have read that comments in first response.
I do personally commented few of them, but no big result. And all are saying that it was good topic and even they don't know it was misleading discussion.
Finally the craziest thing is, they are not caring even the myLot team jump-in to the discussion and clear that topic. (It belongs to myLot site only)
I don't want to mention the discussion name here and it was a small misunderstanding by the author of that discussion. If he found that he was wrong, at least he has to mention to all the members about the same. But he won't.
Now what you do in responding to a discussion. Simply post your response after reading the discussion subject and details. Or would you read the first page responses.
What do you do if you are in my case. Would you comment all the members about the same or leave them.
If you are the author of that subject, then would you correct your self and make comments to all the responses about the same.

Hi stephcjh.,
I too skip reading all the responses when the responses are more. But when the responses are less than twenty, then I will take a look on them. If I found something was in bolded or italic, then I will read it completely as many of them make important information in special fonts. Thank you for your response.

Hi friend,
If ever i make mistake i do correct it, just like what i post yesterday, i know my started discussion is a bit confusing, and i apoligize for what i did.
Anyways, i have read that discussion that you are referring to. Honestly when i read it i feel a bit disapointed for the the person who make the discussion for he dont correct his misleading information. He dont even commented to your response which is more reliable i guess. Actually i dont respond to that discussion even it was in the hot list for i think it will be deleted anyways. I still believe that we should be more careful and responsible for what we post here. I know we could not change anymore the discussion we make but we can still make another post to correct it.

We don't have a option to correct the discussion when it was misleading. So the author must add comment to the first response in bold letter as a correction. Once in a discussion, I forgotten to type a word which changes the meaning of the entire discussion. After I noticed it, immediately, I mentioned the same in the first response comment. I feel it would be best practise if we need to correct the discussion. But today, I was completely wrong. Most of the responded people didn't check the comments on first response. Thanks for sharing your response.

Yes, most of us won't read completely and it was not possible always. But we have to take a look at the first page to get more information. Some times, if the author is wrong in his way, as he can't edit, he will post the correction to the first response in bold as a comments. In fact I did the same too. But no one bother what was there in the first response comments. It was very hard to see that no one is listening to the truth. It makes me crazy and driven to post these discussions. Thank you for your response.

ok.. I get what u mean here.. BUt that discussion has a whooping 70+ responses and that there's no way for me to read all of them to know if it's cleared.. All i know is that i'm responding to the topic, and plus, the actual cleared up response is at nu,ber 41, which is page 4.. I wont read so far down, b4 i reply to any topics too.. WHat's more, i dun see anything wrong with that discussion either, and his intention is actually good..
Just that, it has got too many responses and it's hard to keep track of it..

Yes, there is no wrong if someone is not reading the entire discussion. But if some one commented in the first page, we should read it at least. I do agree the authors intention is good. And it was appreciable. But when he find some thing odd in his discussion, he has to give some importance to that odd thing. And I had mentioned in first page only that myLot team has clarified that. Even after that, all are not at all reading the first response comments. Now all will think that they are spam sites only. It was not good to hear. Thank you again.

I don't read every comment on the discussions. That would take so much time! I usually just read the title, the post and maybe the first response. I think its great that you care enough to read every ones post.
I don't think it is your responsibility to correct everyone, nor is it the person who posted the topic. The people should carefully read the discussion before the post a response. If they don't read carefully why should you bother to correct them?

I think I know which one you are talking about. I seen your comments later on when I went back to it. I must of picked it up the wrong way too. Well thank you, and posting this up will help others as I guessed what it was. I did not go back to it as I was not sure it it was true or not, after I read your comment. Thanks for this.

Hi hildas, those sites are owned by the myLot only. People must at least read the first page comments while they are giving response. But most of us are not. In fact, it was one of the myLot guidelines, we have to read all the responses and comments before responding to any discussion. But when the discussion has more than 10 answers, we skip it. Thank you for the response.

Touchy, touchy. Just joking to cheer you up. Well, I normally read the first page responses. If I'm not satisfied, I do go on to glance at the rest. It kind of helps me too. I get to know the answer to posts that I really won't know to answer. And then I respond. I do enjoy this. If somebody is driving you crazy, just ignore that somebody. Cheer up. Its really not worth loosing your mood out to such characters.

i guess i know what you mean on that..i had read the discussion and remember your response correcting the author about something...actually i just read since it seems that i cant comprehend the topic and was amazed on the responses and that gives me the idea of what it really meant..especially your response...well i guess since the author not interested to correct or admit that he was missing something or have been misinterpreted something then just ignore i guess i mean ignore him...you have given your piece and let the readers judge it ok..if it happens to me then maybe i had to admit or accept my lapses or my misinterpretation on the issues i have started and give thanks ...no big deal actually everybody commits mistakes or misinterpret something..its how we handle it that counts..

I read all of the MyLot discussion (abet not always all the responses in the discussion) that I respond to, although I do still make mistakes as my short term and possibly long term memory is compromised by medical issues. My family noted the problem.
*
As for responders within my discussions, I do read them because they get dropped in my e-mail box. That includes responders who clearly speak/write English as a second language. Those responses though are the ones where I make the most errors.
*
I believe that an honest effort is key in MyLot.

Hi adi when I make a discussion I always answer the people who have taken their time to answer and rate them positive for that..if I have made a mistake in the discussion and someone corrects me then I will gladly accept that and say so..but I suppose its each to their own discussions really we can do nothing about it eh?..littleowl

I think I kno which discussion you were referring to. I just came across it a few moments before I read your discussion. After reading your comments there, there was absolutely nothing for me to say about it and I closed the discussion without responding to it. I usually read the first page to get a feel of the responses. Sometimes after reading teh entire page, I feel that I have nothing more to add and I move on. In this discussion you mentioned, teh case was closed when you explained things, so there was nothing to be discussed. BUt still there are lots of people who don't read even the first page of discussions.

ah i know which one your talking about!!! i get all the discussions of my friends on notify so i reply right from the email which means i dont see till after i reply what has gone on.. i think i was on page 6 or further on that one as is and some one told me to check out what mylot had said on it so thats how i found out.. if i did stop and either go through the first pages of every discussion i reply to or go to each persons page then to their discussions i wouldnt get around to doing half the replies i do and usually things like that dont happen much..
yeah i think no matter what even if people do see others saying the same thing they may say it again to show they agree..
maybe he was afraid if he replied to each one correcting himself/the discussion they would think he was copying and pasting too much?? but at the very least he should have made a new discussion explaining a big OPPS on the prior one.. i have been tempted to do it before but the ones i have accidentally goofed up or realized were stupid later never got more than like 10 anyways so i didnt..

Sometimes i will be like them what you are trying to point. And according to what you are thinking was wrong or misleading to the topic that are posted, it was yours on how do you intercept the meaning of their discussion. Maybe they are giving the same meaning of what you are thinking or that it was supposed to be the answer but the choice of words are differ from what you are expected. Sometime there are different meaning in the same word. On this situation, i think it is on our own way how to understand them or lets give them the chance to be understand by us. And all of this are according to my own opinion. Cheers friend!
