How many of you have a roommate, or family member that leaves their dishes lying around the house? Whether it is left on the table, the desk, or the floor?? My husband is always leaving his dishes on the desk. I can tell him over and over and he'll still leave it there. LOL my kids will leave their glass on the table. Every now and then I will find some dishes in their bedroom, but kids will be kids. LOL.

My husband will leave his glass on the side of his chair or if he brings it into the kitchen, instead of putting the glass in the sink he will leave it on the countertop. The next morning the milk which he drank in it will be dry and hard to wash out of the glass. I aways say to him, if you can make it to the counter you can put the glass in the sink with water, or better yet wash the glass out.

As a university student, I sometimes leave the dishes lying around myself. I am quite good though generally when it comes to placing them in the dishwasher after I eat. My roommates are quite terrible when it comes to this. They often leave dishes with the worst foods on the kitchen table for days, until someone picks up their slack.

My wife and my son are like that. I was the one who was always running after them to put things in order. Now that I consider it as a lost cause I just leave my things there myself. Until someone realises that we need to clear things up and start putting things in order. © ronaldinu 2008

My daughter is like that and it drives me nuts. She has her own space downstairs but no kitchen. I told her to soak her dishes in the utility sink in the laundry room and she can wash them there, or bring them up, after they have soaked, but she will let them lie around, get all crusted and then bring them up, fill up my sink to soak them and put them in the dishwasher.
She is getting better now that her daughter is getting older and into things. Maybe that will help her change, lol.
My kids were not allowed dishes in the room, but sometimes I found one there and would put it under their covers on the bed. That would tick them off because they had to then wash their bed clothes. It would last for a while, then start all over.
One point, I got fed up and put padlocks on the dish cabinets (when they were older) and said they could not use dishes if they did not know how to clean them, asap. Then they moved out!! LOL (See, it worked).

I've always wondered why is it so hard for these people to rinse a glass or wash a plate. My hubby often left his plates, mug or glasses in the sink unwashed. Sometimes I would just wash them; other times I'd ask him if he's waiting for his maid to appear. And if I'm in a very bad mood, I'd just leave those unwashed, until he gets the message and wash them himself, before I erupt. At least now he washes his own mugs.

Hi shymurl! I used to live with my share mate. We used to share an apartment together. It made me fustrated to see her always left her dirty dishes in the sinks.
So I always ended it up with washing all of them. Now, since I've been married, I still have to do all the washing but it doesn't really bother me because I'm not working at the moment and my husband has to work full time. So, it is fair though.
Lucky, we don't have any children at the moment so our house is in a really good condition, not in a big mess lol. Hopefully when the right time has come, I can train them at the young age to clean their room and wash their dishes. lol
