Leader Board

I'm curious. The leaderboard at the foot of the discussions ram=nks members in that topic thread...or does it?
I have just clicked through to the profiles of a number of members on the Leaderboards, wanting to join in more discussions on photography. But I find that very few have started or contributed to photography discussions recently: in some cases, not for years!
How does the leaderboard work?

I think the Leaderboard is done by ratings. The more often your posts in this interest are positively rated, then the higher you'll move up in the board. I've been slowly climbing up the rankings the more often I post. I'm currently ranked 19. Awhile back I was ranked around 40.
I think some of the top 10 are still active, but I don't think a lot of them are currently active. However, when they were active they were rated high enough to still maintain their rank even after they've stopped being active.

That seem likely; it also looks like it doesn't matter what thread they post to, it still helps retain their ranking in Photography... could that be so?

I don't think so... I know I'm ranked differently under all the interests I post under. And when my ranking increases under one interest, it doesn't effect my ranking on the other interests at all...

You have a valid point there. Since the leader board functions on basis of ratings many times we find little or no activity in the interest section for ages! That's surprising! And, I wonder how could an important segment like Photography go unnoticed!
Thanks for pointing out and deserve positive ratings for this. Thanks David.
