self defence and Martial Arts

These terms are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Martial arts encompass the rituals, a spiritual aspect, courtesy, a profound philosophy and the combative aspect of self defence. Self Defence encompasses the combative aspect, together with every other measure needed to survive, from awareness of surroundings to avoiding dangerous situations and places, and also calming an attacker. Do you agree?

Yeah I pretty much agree but martial arts don't have to be spiritual anymore. There are still some schools that teach the spiritual parts but most people aren't interested in that anymore so it slowly fades into the darkness...
