Do you painstaking make up a list and corresponding prices when you go to the shop ?Some persons consider this approach (usually men) to be difficult .They prefer instead to do things impropmtu buying as they go along form memory .The former approach though is likely to lead better results because you dont over buy or under buy .Over buys occurs when you buy items that you already have and under buys when you dont buy the things you need.
An added benefit which is also derived from making a list is that you control your shopping expenditure. It also allows for comparison between prices and enables you to gage price increases and availabilty of items.

Making list before shopping is a very interesting thing to do. When you shop, there are lots of things that you can sewe eveywhere and sometimes, you tend to forgot what are the stuffs that you need to buy when you are there. So in that case, shopping list is an important one. We can easily buy things without thinking of it for a long time. And the most important thing is that it can help us to save our time so that we can do other stuffs after shopping.

Yes when i do. It is usually for my dad and not for myself but i do however. Since i live outside the big city and go there every once in a while its good to have a list organized just incase i forget something important and end up having to drive back to city, and well gas isn't so cheap (better now, but for how long + ware and tear of my vehicle)

I make up a list whenever I go to the grocery store. I really don't have a good memory on what things I should buy once I get there. I check out the fridge, the pantry and everything when making my list. I don't however make up a list when I'm at a mall except when it's christmas time. There's just so much family members to give gifts to.

I occasionally will write a list if I have a great deal of items to purchase. However I do not go through and compare the prices at different stores. I do most of my shopping at the same grocery store, especially since you earn fuel perks!! Any money I can get off gas is great! haha
Every time I write a list though, I always tend to forget it at home, and I have to do it by memory anyhow. The few times I did remember to take my list with me to the store, it did not stop me from over buying, instead I kept adding to my list as I went through the store. The only positive I see from making a list is ensuring you purchase the items you really went to the store to buy!

I always take a list and I shop at mostly dollar and bulk places. Even when going to weekly trips I look to see what is needed and write it down, then figure out if there is actually enough money to pay for it all. If not I mark off something that we can wait on.
The prices of things have made me pick at times but most of the time we can afford what is needed. I will wait on cleaners and have started making up some of my own using vinegar and other household items. Im doing everything in my power to stay up on bills and our family needs, not easy with 5 kids but so far it is working. Im finding a list really helps IF you can stick to the list.

I always make a list of stuffs I wanna shop before going out. It makes me quite sure that I have enough budget for the shopping activity, yeah, it's a budgeting strategy on my part. You're right, creating a list does hep me control my expenses. Another reason why I make a list is because I tend to forget important stuffs, I only remember them when I got home and I slap my forehead and tell my self "Shucks! Not again!" Yeah, I'm quite forgetful, especially during these days of my pregnancy.

I always make a list when I shop. If I don't I always forget something that I needed. I can only make it to the grocery store once a week, so I can't be bothered with having to go back for something. I make a list of all the things that I need and then decide some of the things at the store, like what kind of meat or cookies to buy based on the price. I don't write prices down because I tend to remember them and I also just buy what's cheapest or in the middle price range at the store since I am not going to go to different stores to buy things.

Hi Ronny, I need a list to help me remember the things that I need to stock up; but I don't have any prices for comparison.
However, my hubby is different - he stores both the item and price in his mobile, and refer to that, whenever we do grocery or other shopping! Well, he's an accountant, and you know what they say about these people!

Hi ,
I do at times make up a list of things I need to shop for . However; I do not always do it .
It is better in the sense that the list lets us remember things which we may occasionally forget .
Also ; we can keep a Tab on our expenses too .

Yeah i do make list, coz my memory is really bad and I usually forget things easily so its better to make a list instead of coming to the shop again and take that item again. I find myself lazy for making list though, But it happened to me alot of times that i go without a list and bring all the things but later when i reach home I come to know that i forgot that item. Then have to go again to the shop.

Most of the time, when we go to the grocery, I bring a list with me. I just think of the usual things we buy for the week. But there are times that I forget to buy something. Luckily, it is not that needed sooner and we can always find it in small stores within the neighbor.
I usually make a list when buying Christmas gifts for my nephews and nieces. I have more than 20 of them so I really need to list down their names so I won't miss anyone of them.

my husband does list down when he goes to to supermarket coz he doesn't want things to be left behind in your inventory of groceries. just list no prices. he always shop at the nearest one but with complete items. he says, conveniency is his main reason. short drive, easy parking, no crowd. but he does add a thing or two but never things to be left out. that why he list the items to be bought.

A lot of times, yes, I will make a list before I go shopping because I do not want to spend too much, I only get what I truly need.

I make a list, and my husband does the shopping. he will do a bit of comparison shopping, and given a choice between two brands he will choose the one that is cheaper.
He seems to like grocery shopping. I don't really like it.

I try to make a list everytime I go to the grocery store. Even then there are times when I over buy or under buy. It's a great way to keep to your budget with a list. Great discussion, Ronny!

I make a list whenever I do the groceries or do some long shoppings. I tend to get really forgetful. But sometimes when I only haveto buy one or two items then I dont think I would be needing it of course =) I don't make a mark though about the prices, I tend to forget them to each time I go shopping or to the supermarket I go over the same prices again, just taking note on which item is cheaper (and then forgetting the price after ive selected the item hehe)
