I was looking around at recent discussions and clicked on one that caught my interest. I was going to reply to it, then looked and saw that it was TWO years old!!!!! Now why would a two year old discussion be up on recent discussions? I'm thinking someone may of replied to it recently or something. But TWO years old?? My gosh!! Don't they take the older ones down or do they just let them hang out there somewhere in cyberland? It just boggled my brain when I saw that. Have any of you answered discussions that were written a few years back? I honestly try to stick with the ones my friends write or the absolute most recent ones. I've seen them three months old or so before, but not two years. Geezzzzz

When I get bored here I check out discussions a lot. Just yesterday in fact I responded to a few that caught my eye. They were all 2 years old as well. I still responded as they were of interest to me. They seem to remain forever just as members do that have been banned etc from here. myLot loves the puiblicity it seems I would guess. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well, I think as long as someone would still reply to them, or in this case 'a lot of people' still would reply, then it would be one of the recent ones. You know, recent because someone did reply. =)

I think that is what happens as well. I'm just going to respond to them if they interest me anyway.

WOW... i didn't think that they stayed on here that long. I thought maybe a year, but two years. Hmmm. I've never come across one quite as old, but I dont' always look to see when the discussion was made. Happy mylotting.

*L* when I first came here, I did answer one or two that were more than a year old, but I was unfamiliar with a lot of things and didn't realize until I had made my response that there was a date, of sorts, on the discussions. I think I saw the same one you did this morning, though, because I almost answered it, then realized that it was 2 years old. Maybe sometimes, new people just find things that interest them and answer an old one, like I did, or you add a new friend, then go to check on the discussions they've started and just answer some of them, regardless how old they are. Looking back at some of mine, I really hope no one is answering them in two years.*L*

It really doesn't matter to me how old they are. I just don't think the original poster will be around to answer and what's the use of answering one that old if you can't actually have a discussion about the subject that was started in the first place?

Good point. If the person is still a member and sees his old post has been answered after a year or two, then maybe it will spark a new discussion. It could be interesting..

I see your point, but it pulls it back to the top and others may get into the discussion with each other. The originator of the one I saw is still around and he did answer the responses, so I may not have see the same one as you, as I stated in the first post.

i know it is very surprising to answer a discussion which is years older, i always try to answer the recent discussions and i feel that answering this recent ones may get the reply back from the discussion maker and that person is for sure to remember his/her discussion but anwering the discussions which is very old about years ago i think there is very less possibility that the discussion maker is still at mylot or left it and if in case the person is still there it would be good to remind him about his discussion and it would be interesting and fun as answering such old discussion will leave the discussion maker itself surprising dont you think so?

Yeah..sure...if you say so... I'm thinking the one that started the discussion years ago has probably forgotten about it by now. Why answer a discussion if you can't actually have a discussion? Maybe I'm wrong, but just my opinion.

I have one 2 years old discussion that is always up no matter what. In fact, I have almost 900 responds to my discussion........ Somewhere over the rainbow or somewhere in cybercafe people are willing to respond... HUGS

Wow...900 responses to one post? That's a new one on me too. I guess you are right. If I see one that catches my interest, no matter how old, I think I will go ahead and respond to it. Have a great day.

I've seen discussions from 4 years ago on here. They do not delete old discussions. When you think of a subject to write a discussion on you are supposed to first go through the old discussions and make sure someone hasent already started one just like it. If they have then you are supposed to comment on their instead. So thats what I do. I was going to start a discussionon old discussions but see there has been a ton of them put up so I went first to the oldest discussion and found this one to reply to.

They stick around. I have only been here a year. Lots of mylotters here longer. I will answer it. It can be fun. Maybe some one should start a contest. Especially for newbies. See who can answer the oldest discussion! See who can find the 1st mylot discussion. Might be fun!

Yeah, I've noticed that too, whenever I go to respond to a discussion I notice that its two yrs. old, and the last response was a year ago..lol. I usually won't respond then, how do you know that person is still a member on here. I think they should do something with discussions that are more than two yrs. old, especially if they aren't active.

hahaha!!! I experienced the same. I was so interested with the title of the discussion so I respond to it immediately without checking when that was posted. When I hit the post button hahahaha i found out that it was a year a go. grrrrhhh but anyway, it will not minus our posts hahah just enjoy!!!!

It really doesn't matter to me how old it is...I was just shocked that they actually keep them that long or longer. I will still answer them if they catch my interest, but I don't see much sense it in when you probably won't get a reply back anyway. Have a great day

Hi ya Wyldrose I guess that if mylot were to delete a discussion then that person might actually lose earnings from it. I think the same goes for if they delete members then their discussions would get deleted too and your earnings would too go down if you had contributed to their discussions. I have got lots of friends that are really inactive and in some way I wish mylot would delete them but I would probably lose a lot because I was involved with a lot of their discussions. I dunno I am just guessing. Anyway, I too have responded to a dated discussion but it wasn't until I posted my response did I realise!

That surprised me, How could be the two years old discussion was in the recent discussions? Im not really sure of what i am thinking. Maybe there's someone asnwered it recently because on my previous discussions when i checked them they are always on the top of the new discussions when somebody is responding to it. So maybe that's what also happened to that ancient discussion. Happy mylotting.

I think someone had answered the old discussion and that somehow bumped it up to the recent discussions. I'm not sure how that works...

You mean responding to old discussions like this one? Yes I do. No discussion is too old to respond to, that's what I learned from the veterans here. Whenever I get bored here at Mylot and don't find any discussions that interest me, I go over my friends' profiles and search for discussions that interests me. Sometimes I use the search bar to search for topics that I like to respond to. That is why tags are so important. I don't mind if they are way too old as long as they interest me, I respond to them.
