Myspace..Safe or not?

Your honest opinion. Is it REALLY different than online chatting, or dating sites? Do you think it is dangerous, or do you think there are ways of being secure? Do you have a myspace?
I have a myspace, I keep in touch with old friends.
I think it could potentially be dangerous, but so cant so many other web sites out there.
Just wondering your opinions on this, its always in the media.

I think it depends on the user, the same as with any other online chat/socializing venue. I believe that you must be careful about what you post, say, and do, or you may find yourself in trouble. I too have a myspace account, to keep in touch with several writer friends, but I don't really use it. It is very easy for others to get into your account on myspace. My son and his friends have been hacked several times. Could be due to what they are posting and who they are chatting with though. I do feel that any web chat site has the potential to be dangerous. Let the buyer beware...so to speak.

Myspace is safe as the user is, if someone wants to look for trouble them trouble will find them. My 13 years old sister has myspace but I have her password and check on her every so often. I have myspace but I use it to connect with old friends.

It has its ups and its downs. I think if used in the right way it is ok but there are some out there that dont use it for good.
