Mind Gaps

This always happens to me and it really is embarrassing. It happens whether I'm responding to or starting a discussion. For example I have a sentence wherein I'm gonna say "It's not allowed" and because my mind is faster than my fingers, I leave out the word "not" then it obviously changes the meaning of the whole meaning of the sentence which makes it confusing. Also when I'm typing I sometimes replace a certain word with another word with a different meaning but has similar pronunciation. Anybody here who has similar experiences? Please do share... By the way when I tried to read my own discussion again I just I almost left out the word "say" in one of my sentences...

I've heard of that it's like a tumor in your brain right? I'm glad to know that you were able to overcome that kind of sickness. So do you mean that aneurysm got removed already am I right?

Yes I have similar experience with you. The other day I post a discussion, I was going to title the name of the post as "Do you pray every day?" but finally i type the title"Do you prey every day", see, the meaning is totally different, and I know very well the difference between "prey" and "pray", but I still made the mistake...Luckily my readers were able to understand what I tried to express. Only if we check again our posts, we can easily correct those mistakes.

That is a good example for what I'm saying about words that is pronounced similarly. I wasn't able to think of of anything earlier hahaha. The problem is if we are too excited to reply to something or if we are in too much hurry the result is leaving out some words. tsk tsk.

I guess this sometimes happens to many of us. I even forget what I wanted to reply. Its in my mind. Mind you, I'm pretty fast in typing, but I'm faster still at forgetting. heheheh. Why don't you slow down?

I think it happens to everyone. Sometimes, I thought I was typing a complete sentence when all of a sudden words are not yet there to complete it. I was day dreaming when I was typing that sentence! Or perhaps I was too sleepy to do my work and with all the efforts of doing my work while feeling sleepy, I ended up doing a very ineffective work. Good thing my boss is so kind that I don't get punished for my ineffectiveness that time. I thought, "I'll try not doing that again."

There was also a time wherein at work. I was so sleepy and was waiting for a person to answer (I was trying to transfer a caller to another dept), when the other dept for some reason I said my "opening spiel" or "opening greeting" for a customer. Lol I just immediately apologized.

I have also done that before and I think I still do every now and then. Its really embarassing most of the time since the whole thought of your response might change altogether just because you missed to type a word or two. I once did that while having an exchange with someone here in this site and I had to apologize and re-state the post with the correct terms in order to insist on the point that I was arguing for. So every now and then, yeah I know 'why not always?', I try to re-read my post and see if I missed a word or two which could alter the whole content of my post. I also commit something like that when I'm chatting on instant messengers.. thinking fast but my typing is still trying to catch up (^_^")

Yeah I know I should always have to proof read especially the discussions I start. Much worse, one of my discussions I started, I got the title wrong good thing most of the people understood since I got a lot of responses. Hahaha!

Well, if its just a minor error, everyone could understand and still continue to participate in the discussion after all.. (^_^ )

i think i was told 2 years ago about the ADD.. i am not sure on the not sleeping much because i have extreme insomnia and im not sure if my insomnia is caused by being bipolar or fibromyalgia or something else so i wouldnt know if its from the ADD.. seems like people i know that have ADD do have problems sleeping though

I sometimes misspell a word that sound the same but have different meanings like their and there, too and two, meat meet and buy, bye,by. And I hate when I do so but as you say sometimes you fingers are trying to type as fast as your brain spits out the info and mistakes can and will be made.

That's good for you! At least you just make typos. It's possible that your mind is mostly relaxed that's why it doesn't happen to you. Thanks for the response!

I'm into that situation sometimes especially when I'm going to preview my discussions before submitting it,I would see some mistakes and worst sometimes I will just submit it then just realize later on that I have some mistakes on my discussions. The worst thing I had done is that I respond to a discussion negatively then realize that it was not the right response and it should not be,thus I have to make myself clear.

If you remember I started a discussion with the title "Let's set Out myLot goal" It's supposed to be "our" instead of out. I was embarrassed because the title has to be catchy to get responses fortunately I got 71 responses for that.

what you're experiencing has a scientific explanation. Some chemicals in your brain are running low. You could solve it with Lecithin and more hours of sleep, at least for a period of time.

Hi yuna, This happens to all of us, perhaps more so when one reaches my age lol. Even though I do spell check and always read what I've written very carefully, it still happens sometimes. Perfection is very difficult to find. Blessings.

Oh ye, I do that lots. When I look back and see what I have actually said, and I really believed I had typed it right, I wonder whether (or weather) my keyboard has a life of its own. Perhaps I mistreat it and its trying to get its own back on me

Hiya yuna, You are not alone I detest typing but it as to be done if I'm to use the net, I much prefer talking and put myself across quite well in speech. I have never typed in my life before 12 mnths ago so yes I make many mistakes and I have posted it here on mylot and to my shame, afterwards noticed all my mistakes.

although its not a real problem here..i used to have some trouble with my teachers when they would find usually incomplete sentences at the end of paragraphs. i would assume i have completed the sentence and jump onto the next paragraph ..but now i have solved that problem.. i simply stopped writing ..;)

don't worry - I do it all the time. I'm sorry that there is no spell check on mylot as mu fingers are stiff and I no longer type accurately. It is just theat your brain is going faster than your fingers. so what? It happens to all of us. Have a great day my friend.

I believe myLot does have spell check. What they don't have is grammar check. I noticed that there are red underlines on the words that it isn't able to recognize. Thanks for the response cynthiann!
