I started introducing puzzles and learning toys when my son was around 2... Parents puts out a 5 puzzle set that includes the ABC's, 123's, shapes, animals and bugs. Its great because it comes in it's own storage rack.. He loves it. Also, I bought him his first arts kit. Again, from Parents, its a dry-erase board on one side and a chaulk board on the other.
Really anything that he'll find fun, but teaches him something too. Puzzles, coloring books, anything from LeapFrog to into language and sounds. OH! One more thing, again from Parents, it's an instrument set. Everything is together in a drum and it has 5/6 different instruments.
Now's the time to bring out the creative side in them!
Good luck!

This is so positive approach towards kids between 0 - 5 yrs which is the learning stage. I am impressed.

My two year old is a girl. As of now she has so many dolls and animal toys. She loves pets too but I think we can buy a pre-school things to be ready at school. A little white board and start to teach them the alphabet is a nice one. A book with different drawings and visual images that will help their minds to think and analyze and ask questions. Isn't it a nice idea?

Get him a leap pad which teaches him, there are many educative stuff out there, if he likes stories then there is leap pad which tells stories when the disc is inserted, medical field believes 0 - 5 yrs, since he has many stuffed animals, toys and clothes get him something he can learn. I did the same for my daughter.

you can get a puzzle... toy blocks... educational toys would be very good at this age. you can also get a book with his favorite character on it. it can stimulate his learning.

My son loves YO Gabba Gabba, so we will be getting him a doll from that show. You might try blocks or cars. My son also loves books!

I think a rubber ducky is a not only unique gift, but also inexpensive gift for a two year old. Just think about it. They can play with it anywhere without harming it. They can enjoy it not only in the bathtub, which is appropriate, but also in the sandbox if they want to.
No one will get mad at them for getting it dirty, because all you have to do is spray a little liquid soap on it and it will come clean. I have bought a few kids these in the past as birthday presents, and not a single one sat in the corner unplayed with.
Good luck to you in ideas for a gift! Have a good evening!
