Would You Quit a Job if It's Absolutely Boring?

Would you quit your job in times like this if it's absolutely boring? I was bored out of my mind today and there was nothing to do. Sort of feel like I am wasting my life there and I could be somewhere else. Just not sure if it would be a good thing to quit now given unemployed people are everywhere. *frowns*

I had actually did so when I was younger and graduated from school. But now everything is different. I am married and have my child. I don't want to do something which is childish. I have to be responsible to them. Due to it, I won't easily quit.
I love China

My job is sometimes very very boring... and i thought of quitting... but then... i would come to realize that i am enjoying a lot of priviledges that i wouldn't be able to enjoy if i transfer to another job that is not boring... so i decided to just stay... and spend my boring time here in mylot... and my other favorite sites...

Only if I could get online at work, I wouldn't even be complaining. But I couldn't, so it's like wasting my time which I could be put to use at the computer and stuff.

Never! I love boring jobs because I can do my own thing. The first year I taught school, I had worked prior at a very boring job and in my last months there I was able to complete lesson plans for almost the whole upcoming school year--on company time. Where are jobs like that when you need them. Seriously, most of the jobs I have had were extremely high-pressure, conflict-ridden places, and I would take a boring job over that any day of the week.
I only quite a job when the employers were involved in illegal activity or when office politics got so out of control that the workplace was completely untenable. Oh, and I did quite quite a few jobs....go figure.

Well, I try to brain storm, think about my own projects and stuff at work to kill time. I guess that could be a positive way to look at it *laughs*.

Hello wondericequeen,
Hey you! How're you doing? Given the current situation, I think you should hold on to your job. Economic downturn, recession and everything that happens right now is not good to the employee. By next year, I think we would see more unemployed people. My husband too, just started working for other company and I asked him to hold on and see what will happen by next year. Our web design company is still doing alright but I do not want him to concentrate on the company alone.

I would definitely not quit a job right now, unless I had another one to go to or just didn't really need the money. Still, being bored all day is no fun. I am surprised the employer is not laying people off if there is no work to do. Hang in there, wondericequeen. Hope you decide what the best decision is...

I am surprised too! I thought we would lay off people. Well, everyone is pretending to be very busy, but honestly speaking, I can see that many of us are just sitting around. Well, it's lucky to have a job now and save up the extra pennies. Will see how it goes. At least if they lay me off, then I could have a few extra pennies saved up *laughs*.

Absolutely but I will weight first the "pros" and "cons" before doing it. Our job should give us a life, a chance for growth and we must never be a slave for our job. If you're unhappy about your job then going to work is all ready stressful for you.
Before, I am working in an insurance company but I did not last long since my conscience won't allow me to fool people. I resigned, became a professional then look for a new job. Trust me, looking for a new job was not easy but now, I can say it is worth it since I am very much secured on my work now.
My advice to you...think everything ahead...who will be hurt if you lose your job now and how will you live. Is there an available job all ready or you will have to apply again? If you have to apply, how long will it take? Whatever you're decision, just make sure you won't hurt yourself or other people around you. Good luck!

Thanks. I won't quit a job because of being impulsive, of course there are many things to consider before making the final decision.

I think it would depend on how much money I was making. It I was making a good amount then I'd probably hang in there and find something to do during the boring times. Can you sneak a book in to read during those times? If you're really unhappy then look for something else but make sure it's while you still have this job. No one should stay at a job that they're not happy at.

Maybe i will not do that. I think it is very hard to find a job right now, and so many times people will be boring a thing after a long time. Life is like that, you can't do the things you want to sometimes, so you must bear it. But if you got enough ability, I think you can do the things you like. Life is a unexpected, maybe you will find a bright way!

I am really not sure if it's a temporary one, since I have been feeling like this for a few months. Someday, I do really have to work hard, but still it's boring!

I would certainly quit a job if I am getting bored of doing it. But, first of all I would like to have some other good job offers in my hand, bcoz without these offers I would never quit a job even if it is boring me. In today's world, when the jobs are quickly decreasing we all have to think more than twice before quitting a job.

Yes, many of us would not quit even though the job might not suit us. Best of course would be having other offers before we quit!

For me, I'll consider to quit if it's boring and if the pay is not that good. But if the pay is good although it's boring, I'll just make some other things to make the work interesting...
My job becomes boring when I only stay in the office since I am used to do some field work.

i guess i wiill not be thinking of resigning just because i am bored. life is so hard already and finding a new work does not asssure me that i will not be bored with it. as for me, work can be boring if you chose to be bored by it. sometimes it is our attitude that helps mess up things, actually. so just try not to be bored with it and do not do stuffs that are routinary.
