Where do you sell your used items online?

Craigslist? Ebay? Amazon.com? own blogging site? own website? Where?
I have quite a few boys and adult clothing in good condition, as well as books and odds and ends I want to sell but not sure which site I should start with. I was thinking about Craigslist but not sure as I've never sold anything on there. I did meet a friend online through mylot who was interested in buying some boys clothes, so we made an arrangement and I sent her a box full of clothes for her boys and never got paid. It may not have been the best place to try it but oh well, I live and learn.
What online sites would you suggest I try? Thanks for sharing.

Well Rozie you're more than welcome to look through the comments I get from this discussion. I'm also going to try out Craigslist and see how I go with that.

I would suggest eBay as your best bet. On there you will get people looking specifically for something you will be selling. I've never used Craigslist so I can't give an opinion on it. I sell on eBay and my own website but I'm not selling second hand. I would always make sure that you get the money before sending anything that way you don't end up on a loss like before. Also if you have a lot of stuff you could see if there is a local car boot sale or similar on near you where you might be able to sell things.

local car boot sale? I'll have to check that out as I'm not sure if they do that here in VA. Hmmm interesting idea - maybe I can team up with other mothers and do a garage sale or something - thanks for the idea beki. I'll also take a look at ebay.

I use ebay. It's OK, You have to put up with specific rules, but at least they protect the seller. When someone bids and doesn't pay, it sucks, but that doesn't happen a lot.
If you need any specific tips from me, feel free to contact me at yahoo. My name there is msboss789.
good luck and ttyl,
Emma

I have sold on ebay and most of the time the people are honest but like you I have had people say they didnt get item and file for refund. I guess there is dishonest people everywhere.. I have never tried craigs list so I dont know about it.

Since this post was from four weeks ago, which have you tried? I believe like new or used clothing is only a good seller on ebay if it is designer or brand name. If you are new to ebay it is a good thing to search to see how many items are selling currently like yours. It is also a good idea to do an "advanced search" of your items you want to sell on ebay to see what the completed auction listings have sold for. It is also beneficial to have your items end on the weekends, usually Sunday for the highest bids (Also, take in account different time zones for the auction listing ending) Craigs List is great to sell heavy furniture, household appliances, etc. on so the buyer can pick up the item from your house. I apologize if this post was information overload. Good luck!

After I posted this discussion, I had a friend on mhylot email me about my sons clothes and have already shipped them off to her and received payment. In future when he outgrows them, I'm going to continue to sell them to her.
I had a look on ebay but it seems too complicated for me so decided not to use it. If I have any furnishings to sell I'm going to use Craigslist. Thanks travelgirl for your input.

I have purchased from Craigslist several times. It has always been a good experience for me. I do stick to local sellers. I haven't sold anything yet. But if I was going to I would stick with Craigslist 1st.

I am a wife and mommy. Last July, I filed a leave from my work. At home, i do 3 things; first, do house work like keeping things in order. Second, be a full time mom like always at home. Third, do paper filing for my husband. He distribute children, family, health books to school, offices, hospital and the like.
After 1 month, I decided to add variety to my daily life. I started gathering used paper product from our house, my parents'house and the school nearby. I gather in a carton box until i was able to gather more boxes than I sold it to the Junk shop----it add to the family earning. And I still do it until this time.
Then, I discovered www.sulit.com.ph last week of August where you could post adds free online. It work! I delivered 2 books for this month of November.
I just don't know if this is available in your place.

You can sell your old belongings on any of the sites that you have listed above. But I would have to say that I would recommend Ebay. Ebay gets probably millions to billions of views per day, so if you want to sell your stuff, Ebay may be the most effective, but anyone that you have listed is good.

I've sold quite a few bits of clothing, books, toys etc on ebay.
Didn't get LOADS of money, one summer i managed to make £100 selling my junk!
Just make sure, if you do use ebay, make sure you estimate packaging correctly, else you'll end up loosing any money you make on postage and packaging!

I have listed some furniture for sale on CraigsList before, but I didn't receive any response. And I have sold a number of things on eBay. I had more luck with eBay, but because of the shipping fees it is really hard to get what the items are actually worth.
I think since you have boy's clothes, I would give Craigslist a shot. If you can sell them locally then you wouldn't have to charge a shipping fee. This would maybe get your more money out of the items.
Sorry to hear that someone has cheated you from here on myLot. I guess maybe we have to be cautious even in our own community. Especially since it has grown to such a huge number of people.
Good luck to you and have a great day!

Have you thought of having a garage sale? I would never send any item to anyone without receiving money first. Never send anyone anything without receiving the money first, checks must clear first same with money orders. Do not accept alertpay as a payment because they can take their money back and there is nothing you can do about it.

I know that now. I trusted her too much to do the right thing and even though she did respond saying she had money issues, I gave her ample time to send the $$ to me. I gave up in the end because I didn't want to stress out over it any more.
I have never thought of having a garage sale. Not sure if I have enough stuff to warrant one but it's worth thinking about. I'll have to check with out building manager whether we can hold something like this.
Thanks for your input prinzess.

I suppose the best place to sell used items would be on ebay! Generally, people just love to bid for things! I'm fairly new to the world of ebay and I have only sold one item so far. I am looking to sell a lot more items in due course. I think the whole thing about ebay is so exciting, the bidding, the close monitoring of other products and so forth. It's always exciting when you receive an email mentioning that someone has bid on one of your items! Anyway, I don't think I will sell anywhere else, I will remain with ebay. Andrew
