"Cheney is charged with engaging in an organized criminal activity related to the vice president's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds financial interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees because of his link to the prison companies." His spokesperson says he hasn't received the indictment. What do you think will happen? http://www.ajc.com/news/content/shared-gen/ap/National/Cheney_Indicted.html

I'm not sure what will happen, but he needs to do or serve like the rest of us. He should not be treated any different.

It's about time he gets indicted for something, too bad they won't get him on anything bigger than this. I wonder if this will mean instant impeachment, even though his time is up in a few months? Hey, the sooner we get him out of there, the better, in my opinion.

It's yet another frivolous lawsuit and another waste of taxpayer dollars. It has no merit and it won't go anywhere.

Most likely, it don't go anywhere. But, don't it feel good???? Seriously, though, they're going to say that the prosecutor is doing this as sort of a revenge thing since he's a lame duck - kind of going out with a bang. Some call it ridiculous, others don't think the charges will stick. But, I say if a grand jury thought there was sufficient evidence to indict, them maybe there's hope these people will finally pay the piper! And this is a grand jury in TEXAS! That speaks volumes, to me anyway.

This is just stupid. A waste of time and money. Look at this way... you invest your 401k in a several companies. Well one of those companies invests in another company and that company breaks the law. Would you be responsible? No. So why is Cheney? It will come to nothing. Zenith ( and a few other companies) just got in major trouble for price fixing. Are the people who own stock in company responsible for the price fixing? No. They had no idea it was going on. Now lets say someone invested in a company and that company invested in one of those companies, is that person responsible? Of course not. This DA is just looking for his 15 minutes of fame before he leaves office. The DA that did this just lost his re-election campaign and is probly just ticked he lost his job. He is wasting tax payer money and time. Now that should be a crime.

I say the more the merrier. Let's keep this trecherous old traitor in court for the rest of his days.Charge him and sue him for everything we can think of. Can anyone say TREASON, or crimes against humanity, or genocide or war profiteering? Doesn't anyone understand that this character has made millions from the wars? Do some study. Do some research. Follow the money! Why aren't we screaming and shreiking about this?

Can anyone say WASTE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS? You know this won't go anywhere, but you are more than happy to see money wasted on it. I bet you were one of those people complaining that taxpayer dollars were wasted on the Clinton investigation.

No. I am not a fan of Clinton. My point is that we must hold these people accountable for what they have done and continue to do. To ignore their lapses in judgement and their abuses of power does harm to us all. Things will only get worse if we allow people to get away with this magnitude of corruption. Funny you are concerned about the waste of taxpayer dollars when billions are being funneled to Cheney's cronies in war contracts and to Wall Street folks in the marvelous, miraculous Bailout. The business about him investing in a mutual fund that owns the prisons is just a hint at what has gone on and they must have some documentaion of this to back them. There is so much more to look at. The point of it is that we need to raise Hell about everything. All of us, relentlessly or it will not get any better.

Sounds rather stupid to me. I mean I suppose this is because he is Bush's vice president and the Democrats want to sue as many as they can of the last administration. Do you really think that Cheney investigates all the companies he put money in? He's too busy for that. Curious that only Republicans can get sued and considered engaging in nefarious activities but Democrats can do that and get praised to high heaven.

More than likely, nothing. That is just how things go with some "charmed" people. I would guess that many "legals" are champing at the bit to see if they can grab any member of the Bush administration for illegal things. The likelihood of anything really happening is slim to none. Probably just another waste of time.

I know it probably won't go anywhere, but a girl can cream, can't she? I'm still hopeful that in time Cheney will get what he has coming. He's a war criminal of the worst kind, in my opinion, and I only hope somebody proves it after he leaves office. Annie

This is a very interesting story and I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more national coverage. I am a little confused though. Are they saying that the outgoing prosecutor Guerra brought the indictement against Cheney and Gonzales inappropriately?
