Hello folks,
global warming seems be more serious that "People" supposed in the past years, Seems in the next few years we will lost a good part of the Poles ice.....
Someone join this with some antique prophecies (first of all the maya prophecy, according with whom, the world should have a big turn in 2012), and they're worried we're irreparably accellerating the period in wich the Eart will give up the ghost.
What's your opinion? Are you worried about an irreversible mutation of the life condition on our Planet?

Yeah, I'm actually quite worried about the situation on Earth. I believe sooner or later, Earth will be gone but it will not be during my lifetime. :) What I can do now is to do my part in saving Earth. Don't waste precious clean water, minimize usage of plastic bags and air condition, etc.

We should be worried for the future generations.. Maybe we not alive anymore when drastic changes will happen in our planet.. But I believe, It has its own way of "healing" itself . Our planet experienced extreme environment conditions over Millions of years, from volcano infested planet to cool and icy earth and to a green planet where plants and animals thrive...

Dear friend,
As long as I have enough other things to worry more than this I may not worry on Global warming much but I do worry at times when I go deep into thoughts of its danger side. At times I do be careful and try not to harm the earth from my side, may a very tiny effort from my part. Still I hope if every body do this tiny effort, may be it could give a big output that could do a lot help in preventing or may be controlling global warming.

i think most people are rightfully concerned about global warming, and most of us would agree that it is a threat that needs to be tackled urgently. but when it comes down to what an individual can do, we tend to feel that we cannot do much. some might say, what can little me do to change something like this? and likely, we would not want to inconvenience ourselves, doing things like forgoing the convenience of the car for public transport. sadly, i think that the selfishness of mankind might well be our own undoing.

timou87,
That's an interesting way to look at it. Sort of defeatist though.
Try to look at it this way: we are each doing our little part to help destroy our environment, but what if each person made little changes in their life to help the environment? Individually it's not much but compounded, it can make a huge difference.

Actually I am worried about global cooling. I do not want to go out in December when it is 40 below and get stuck in a blizzard. Mind you I do wish those who think we are having global warming could come here to Winnipeg, or any place in the Prairies and enjoy our minus 40 to minus 60 degree weather in January.
You will change your minds. The world is getting cooler. Wait a few years and you will hear news about freak snow storms, old ladies dying of pneumonia, as well as children, but will many care? Not the ones who said "we are in global warming."

I wish that they would have been concerned about the results of when the growing season up here becomes shorter. But I doubt it. And thanks for the best response.

No it was not. Have you lived in Manitoba? No. Do you realize that for the last few years, it got down to 40 below? No you did not. Do you realize that our growing season is quite short? And it is even shorter in Saskatoon where we lived before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba. So you really do not care that in most Januaries, it gets to be minus 40 and that is not counting the wind chill.

To be honest, Europe, and many other nations in the world have been concerned about Global Warming for the past 30 years and have taken action. The effects are already happening from terrible droughts to floodings and Tsunamis. The ice shelf in Antartica has broken away and this is more than serious. Yes, it will affect us all in our lifetime as it is happening now.
In my adopted country,we had a hurricane in December of last year. This has never happened before. Our hurricane are fromm July to October. Every country can relate experiences of climate change. We cannot reverse what has been done but we can slow down the process of what is happening.
I've never heard of the Mayan phrophecy before. What exactly did it say?

This is the case in so many countreies - including my own. Greed dictates what is to be done unfortunately. Legislation is necessary but for most people it is just not at the top of their list as important. Sorry to sound cynical but the large cpompanies usually win unless the people really protest. Most people are just plain worried about getting through the week than Global Warming. Incredibly sad that man is dstroying such a beautiful creation.

I think maybe most people know the effect of the global warming .But what could we do ? pesonal power is limited. In our country ,the people seems pay more attention to the economy development when they face the enviorment problems. I think it need the state legislate more laws to protect enviroment .

I guess the best term now is global climate change, since there's been evidence of both cooling and warming of the earth in recent years. I do worry about it, and I believe that the damage caused already cannot truly ever be repaired, only stopped or slowed down. If ice caps continue to melt at the current rate, and ocean temperatures keep rising, hurricanes and other natural disasters will only become stronger and more common. I think that the answer to stopping this is a well-organized plan by the government to switch to an alternative fuel, in my opinion it should be hydrogen, and produce our own fuel so that we are not relying on other countries for our energy. Producing hydrogen here would negate our dependence, create jobs, and overall boost our economy.

I've read some of the responses above, and quite a lot of you have stated that you are very sure that you won't live to see the earth fall apart. But, I think, this is a mere assumption. Guys, think again. Quite a lot of research have shown extraordinary outcomes. If the human behaviour towards the earth continues as it is, really bad things will happen, sooner than we think. The earth can fall apart during our lifetime, if we continue with the way things are. Quite a lot of things must be solved. The global warming, the shortage of electricity, the rapid increase in population and the rapid increase in pollution rate.

Yes, I'm worried. In fact, all of us should be. We have to do our part in contributing to a healthier environment. The little things we can do, to contribute towards living a greener life.
Plus, something needs to be done about usage of energy. We've been too dependant on oil for everything. We need to explore new alternatives of energy fast, and quickly have it implemented worldwide, before it's too late.

Sorry but I don't believe that ghost will mutate on earth because of global warming. AS I understand global warming is cause of human that keep on destroying our nature. Making fire or wild fire can cause global warming. Body spray can cause also global warming. The ozone layer will be thinner and thinner because of man made destroyer. ty

anikakim,
The ozone layer is actually recovering. Yippee!!!
Body sprays don't contribute to global warming anymore, using CFC's as propellants isn't done anymore.

We should care about so many things. But we don't care because of the money, and we are so silly that we don't see what the Rich people are doing to all of us. You know the 200 most rich people in the world, earns in an year the same money earned from the 3 billions (billions! with nine 0!!) of the most poor people in the same world. We don't care about the use of Africa like a big golobal trash can, we don't care about clean energy due the economical interests of the oil companies, we don't care about anything. And seems nobody care too about what will happens to their childrens. And is our (the common people) fault! We are the ones allowing them to do that.
So, we can say "sure, i'm really worried about global warming", but if i will buy a new car, instead to push the car companies to build a "clean" car, isn't my fault? If we all stop to buy new cars, saying "there is no reason to buy a new car, if is still using an old oil engine, we will consider new cars when they will use electricity", then they would like to produce that kind of car. Consumers are a power group that never understood their power, they always accept the decisions of a group of few people interested only in their earnings. If we can't wake up, they will always do the same, and who will pay... will be us, again and again.
Try to search on the net about Mr. Telsa, or about free energy, and ask yourself why we still use oil.

of course I'm worried.. who wouldn't be??? here in the Philippines we also experience the effects of global warming.. the sudden rise in temperature, sea level is starting to rise, floods caused by sudden downpour of rain,.. and it's sad to say that maybe in the future our country will be submerge underwater because of the eyes meltdown.. another Atlantis in the making

No, i'm not worried about the global warming, I already bought lot of nice swimming suites, tons of solar lotion, I got an house 800 mt. upper the sea level.
So I'm ready.
About the future.... well, i suppose i can live not much more than 50 years more. After that, will be not my problem anymore ;)
And if people are so stupid to destroy their own planet, don't considering we can't have another one where to live, why should I be worried? What can I do? So better don't think about that, and find the best way to live, at least till when life will be possible here.

Yes global warning is more dangerous for our world, because it can trigger another like new kind of disease, drought, flood, war, etc. I think all religion think about doomday, messiah , prophecy ,etc. But all of this is natural, human grow, more intelligent, more greed, more and more population, this call evolution everything live, grow, old, and die. We can stop this, but we can reduce it.

Hi pierone, Global warming is a very serious issue and we probably don't have a lot of time left if we are going to save the planet. I believe we have reached a point where, if we are going to survive as a species big changes have to start happening and soon. Fortunately there does seem to be a change coming, and more and more people are becoming interested. I wouldn't worry to much about the ancient prophecies, if they signify anything, it is the change that will be coming about in the earth. We have to end war and pool our resources towards ending poverty and more and more people are beginning to talk about coming up with a plan to do just that. You may wonder what that has to do with global warming, but it will bring about the chances we so desperately need to happen. It is clear that something big is about to happen and we must either change or perish. Blessings.

yes, i am and i think we all should be worried about it.. i know i won't last that long here on earth but i am worried about the future generations.. we should help one another to save mother earth.. we can make a big difference by simply doing the right things like planting more trees, using eco-friendly products, proper waste disposal and many more..

I worry because i know im gunna have kids and they will have to suffer through everything we have left them. Yes It does exist and yes it has to be dealt with. You can denie it all you want but its there and its true. Theirs people out there that will try convincing you that its not true so it benefits themselves. Where i live from when i was a kid to now, i notice strange differences in the world. We only have one earth, lets make it last for as long as we can.

Global warming is real and the Earth's impending doom is as certain as the sun rises in the east, unless we all take part to do something about it. Franckly speaking, I cannot undertstand why some people believe that all this stuff about global warming is just a hoax, another conspiracy theory, when we all have felt the climate changes and seen ice melting in rapid rates. We cannot afford to be complacent about these things.

I think, that global warming is a great propaganda. I don't mean that climatic changes are not happening, but their reasons are different from those widely presented. Different points of view offer many documents, such us Martin Durkin's videodocument Global warming swindle.
