Do you read other comments before you add your?

If there is a discussion you want to comment, do you read few comments before you decide to write yours? And in the case you do, would you adjust your comment to the general opinion in the discussion? Would you decide not to add your comment which would have completely opposite opinion as most of comments in that discussion? I do not read the comments before I decide to write mine, just because I do not want to be influenced. So tell us how do you do it:)

If I am first to respond, or near first I don't read the other comments because there aren't any to read. Otherwise I will skim over the comments to see if others have already stated what I would have said. Now at that point, it would depend on the topic if I would continue to respond. There are other times that I will respond without reading the other responses because the question posed speaks to what each person does personally. For instance, it might say something like, what do you do, or how do you do this or that. Then when I am finished I will read the other posts. No, I do not adjust what I have to say to what others have already said. I am my own person and I speak what is in my own mind. I am not the kind of person who has to follow along with what others are doing or saying. I actually have a problem trusting or believing anyone who cannot stand on their own opinions without being swayed by the crowd.

I agree with this. :) I do not wish to repeat what somebody else has already said. :) But, sometimes, I just gotta say what I gotta say! *LOL* ;) You never know when something will speak to you. :)

if it is a discussion about opinions or thought i dont read others until after i write mine but if it is about money sites or something like that i read them to make sure im not repeating what someone has already said and if someone has already said it i just make a comment under theirs if need be.

Well sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It depends on the discussion. If it is one that is asking for my opinion then I tend to just post what I think and then read the other posts. If on the other hand it is asking for help then I will read all the other posts and if they have said what I would have said I do not post at all. If not then I will post what I think. Some funny discussions are good to read as they get me in the right frame of mind to answer in kind.

It depends. If I'm responding to a discussion like this one from an email, I cannot yet see the other comments. But, if I can, I usually do scan them to see if a lot of other people responded the way I would; then I don't usually bother. If they haven't, I'll add my response. I'm not influenced by other responses at all. When I respond to a discussion, it's because I'm interested in the topic and I have something specific to add. I skip over the discussions that don't interest me or if I have nothing to add to it.

I like to read the comments to see what people are already saying and what has already been said. I do not wish to repeat things that have already been said. I would never adjust my comment to the general opinion. I might decide to not post entirely in that particular Discussion if I can see that everybody is vehement in their opinion. But I would never lie about how I feel. :) So, I do read the comments, and I make my comments, and my decision about whether or not to make any comments. But I only say how I truthfully about the subject if I do decide to respond. :)

So you are saying in the case your opinion is opposite you would consider to add your comment if other people generally meet different opinion? I think you should post yours whenever you feel you have something to say. I like myLot also because of many different opinion.

I usually do just so I have more of an understanding of the discussion. I also enjoy reading others opinions because they're interesting, so it's not something I find mandatory. Sometimes I adjust my comments, but only because after reading others' I'm influenced a bit if they've written well and got their point across strongly. If my comment completely opposed others, I would still leave it. Their opinions have nothing to do with mine, do they? Plus, if others won't post because of something like that, then my post would pretty much be "breaking the ice" and get the discussion going.

I usually read all the posts unless the discussion had 20 pages....lol. Also, if the discussion is a question that reuires a specific answer, I will look and see if someone has answered it. If a discussion, asks an opinion, I will look through other posts but post my own. It's interesting to see how others approach different questions anh how they answer them.

sometimes i do, it just depends what the subject is and how much i am interested in the topic that is presented in the discussion. sometimes i am just in too much of a hurry to read all of them, so i only read one or two.

I normally don't read the comments before I add mine. I know that it's recommended that people do that, but I agree with you that I don't want to be unduly influenced in my response.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Generally if a discussion has 142 responses I don't read them all. If it's a really interesting discussion, I generally read them. It just depends.

i always add my comment or respond to the discussion after reading the discussion and then i respond to it but sometimes when i lack of time i would comment a discussion just by reading its topic question and also when i am not able to read the long discussions and then too i would just respond to it by reading the topic question. i will comment to the discussion only if it is of my interest and where i can write something but i would not answer the discussion which is not of my interest and i dont have any ideas to write for it.

I don't like to read other comments before adding mine too. As you said, reading others before would change or influence my view. I want to give my own opinion,no matter whether it is consistent with or against view opinion. Well, after writing mine,I would like to read other comments to see what others think.

if it's more than one page, no. one of the reasons i joined mylot is to brush up on my conversational skills (don't know if its the right term). if i read more than a page of responses, i'd nitpick my own response that i'd end up not posting at all.

Occasionally, I will read other people's comments. I enjoy reading and seeing other people's comments and their point of view. I find that it's a good way of learning and seeing things outside of our little world and community.

No, I don't.Most of the time I'll just post my own answer. But when the question has an obvious answer like "who wrote the Twilight series?" then I'll see i anyone has given an answer yet. It's always tempting to just post an answer though because you still earn a little money, whether or not your answer is the correct one.

Thats what i alway do, i do like read everything that is written in their for you can also learn from the respond. And it is also in the guidelines in mylot to read first before posting so that you wont repeat what they already post, unless it is a personal question where you have to answer with your own experience.

I read few and short comments first to find out what I have in mind might be written already by others so I have to express it in a differrent way, I still add my comments even if it's the opposite opinion to most comments as I feel much better if mine is differrent, as long as for me it's the right comment.
