did you check the gender of your baby or did you wait?

When doing the Ultrasound scan, many times its possible to see or to ask the Doctor to reveal the gender of the baby right? Did you opt to know or did you leave it to be a magical moment or discovery when you delivered? In India, its illegal to find out/ reveal the gender, but even if it were possible, I would never want to know beforehand!

I didn't know that it was illegal to know in India, I learned something new today! My husband and I chose to find out the gender of our babies, we were going to wait and let it be a surprise, but when we found out we were having twins, we figured we should find out so we know what to buy. We want our next child to be a surprise, unless it's twins of course! We had 2 girls, who are now 2 years old. Good question!

Congrats on ur twins. Isn't it an option to buy neutral colored stuff like in yellow, peach, purple, etc? If thats the only reason one "spoils" the surprise?

I had a scan at 20 weeks in my first pregnancy and the hospital didn't tell parents the gender then. That was 13 years ago and times have changed with there now being baby scan places that pregnant ladies can visit. My first baby was a boy and he is now a polite teenager. During my second pregnancy I was able to have a gender scan at 16 weeks and they said a boy. They were right and he is now a happy little 18 month old. Then at 20 weeks pregnancy the hospital hinted the it could be a boy. I had many scans at 36 weeks pregnancy because spina bifida was found. I so very much wish to have a girl one day and if I got pregnant again I would long for 16 weeks when I could find out the gender. My sister had a surprise with all her children and she luckily got 2 boys and 2 girls. It is fortunate that because revealing the gender is illegal in your country you wouldn't want to know until that magical moment that your baby is born.

My husband and I checked with both of my pregnancies. We were so excited with my first pregnancy that we found out as soon as we could. With our second baby we were excited about having him, but I got a little tired of hearing how he was going to be a her. I guess everyone, except for my husband and I, figured the baby was going to be a girl seeing as we already had a boy. They said it so much I ended up saying it was a boy! Though I didn't care what gender the baby was, so long as the baby was healthy. When it came time for the ultrasound my baby was turned the wrong way and the technician couldn't tell what gender my baby was. At that point I knew it was a boy! She was very kind and let me wait so that she could be certain. And sure enough my baby was a boy. Looks like I was right all along.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I wanted to know. When I went in for the ultrasound, they couldn't tell because she was 'hiding' it. ;) With my son, the Dr. who delivered him didn't believe in doing ultrasounds unless it was medically necessary. So I never had one and he was a surprise....well, kind of. My whole pregnancy my daughter said it was a boy (she was 3) and would cry hysterically if anyone suggested it *might* be a girl. LOL!

Ha that's so cute, she was hiding it. my son was flirting away with the scanner, posing waving his hands about and stuff, but I could not really "see" anyway didn't want to, then when they called my husband in he was like okay enough interaction, here's my back! Guess ur daughter was glad it was a boy after all!
