As I continued reading the bible, i noticed a verse where Paul mentioned "Be perfect like your Father in heaven is perfect". If this is a commandment instructed by paul to the first christians and that commandment is still in effect in our times, I want to believe that we also have to be perfect? Hope it didn't confuse you guys but that how i look on his statement. Can we still achieve being perfect like God nowadays? if so how? If not, why did Paul said that to the first christians if it cannot be achieved?

God knows that we cannot be perfect and that is why He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross so that if we believe in Him we will have eternal life. God knows we cannot be perfect because we are in the flesh which is not perfect, but one day we will be in Glory and we will have new bodies and those who have chosen life in Jesus will be perfect.

God does not expect us to be perfect and I don't believe that Paul did either. I believe that what we should strive for is to be the best that we can be. We can't do any more than that anyway so why worry about perfection if it's not attainable?

There were ten commandments issued in the bible. I do't think the be perfect is a commandment persay. I think it is basically telling us to strive to be like out Father in Heaven. God knows the human race isn't perfect shoot look what adam and eve did. Well Eve that is. If we could be perfect I dont think God would of sent his Son to die for our sins. He knows we are far from perfect and that we will never be perfect but we are to strive to be like him. Is more like a goal than a commandment.
