Of course they can. Even though legally you own the copyright to your creations, people do not seem to care about that and assume if it is not locked up it is fair game. Once anything is on the internet you no longer have control over it, so do not post anything you do not want to lose control over. Just post lower resolution photos and save the hi rez copies for yourself.

hi doctor...
well it is risky to put photo in the web, specially for girls.
but anyways your photo is too small to view, i need a microscope to view it.
but its you in the photo na???
if yes then well i think nobody will misuse it, because it is hardly noticable that there is a doctor standing near the bush...
but i will say that keep your personal photo away from the web, as there are people out there to misuse it.
bye.

Any picture you post online can be saved on any computer anywhere in the world. For the most part it is safe to post pictures online but keep in mind when you post pictures online that they are viewable by everyone.
So anything that you wouldn't want your boss, co-workers, family, and etc... to see shouldn't be posted online. Any photo you post can be saved and put through photoshop... most people aren't that bored but you never know. Posting any personal pictures online is always a risk but at the very least don't volunteer to post photos of yourself in embarrassing situations.
