I happen to be a great lover of dance...all kinds of dance and perhaps because I studied dance in my younger days including ballet. I do love still ballet and sometimes wish I could have been a famous ballerina..Ah, but that never happened in my life. So from time to time to get my ballet "fix" I watch excerpts of famous ballet performances on good old YouTube. So last night, I was watching the "Dying Swan" sequence from Swan Lake..once it was over, I happened to catch the other listings for the same performance...and died laughing...This was definitely a new take on this particular performance...as it was done ....by a guy, male gender, not a woman.. so I just had to share this...and hey...this guy has great legs! So sit back and enjoy and entirely different version of the "Dying Swan" sequence of Swan Lake..

Me, too. I love dance. I am a former professional dancer. I was trained at the Joffrey but never became a ballet dancer. I did more night clubs and musical theater, but still love ballet. I became a teacher and then ran my own school, dance company and competition dance team, amongst other things, and dance is my life!!!
I have seen this one before. Actually, did you know that the Dying Swan is not from Swan Lake? It is a separate dance done to The Swan by Sans-Siens from the Carnival of the Animals, made famous by Anna Pavlova, a famous Russian ballerina from the beginning of the 20th century.
The Ballet Trocadero is a famous, all male ballet company that does incredible and funny stuff. Dancing "en pointes" for men is very difficult and to be a "woman" on stage is not easy!! LOL I love their stuff and thanks for sharing this.
Here is some more by them....
This is a parody of the Little Swans from Swan Lake...

This is what it should really look like (by a normal ballet company)...

When I was a kid my mother wanted me to study ballet at the American Ballet school..she was hoping her rather rich uncle would foot the bill (no pun intended)..but he was a tight wad....so, never went to study there

Oops, I spelled Sans-Saens wrong but here is a video of the beautiful Natalia Makarova, one of my favorite ballet dancers.

Here is the one by Pavlova. Mind you, this is early film and the dancers were not as technical as they are now. It is being narrated in Russian.

Here is a later version, with Uliana Lopatkina, another gorgeous ballet dancer.

That was funny but it does not disguise the fact that Vadim Slatvitskiy is a superb dancer.

When I was growing up in Scotland I idolized Moira Shearer (could be because she was Scottish ) but yes the Russians seems to be the most famous.

Isn't it funny how most ballet dancers male or female are Russian though? Think of a lot of the greats and they've all been Russian, right?

It is harder... something to do with balance and centre of gravity, I think.

For some reason I can help thinking it's harder for a guy to dance en pointe than a woman though, don't you think?

Hey pye! That was really funny! I loved it! The feathers falling
and the looks on his face! That was a riot! I was lmao! I don't
know how you found that one! I love to watch ballet too! Since
I wasn't able to do it too well as a child I still enjoy being
able to watch the professionals! I am fascinated by how graceful
and strong these dancers are since I sure couldn't even stand to
have the toe shoes on my feet, let alone dance in them! Thanks
for the laugh! I will have to keep this one!

Oh that is so funny, that facial expression and the dance move are being executed very well. He is a great ballet dancer too. I thought it is a woman for his attire but i am wrong when it the camera focus his face, the make up is like a clown. I laugh from the start up to the end of the show.

Yes for a guy he was graceful..at the beginning before you get a close up shot of him he really could pass for a woman...LOL

That is great! I enjoyed every second of it.
It reminded me of my dance teacher from when I was in high school. She would get mad at us when we just weren't 'getting it' (or being lazy) and start dancing around acting like a chicken. Technically correct, well-performed but a chicken none the less.

I guess you just want to promote the video. But I also would share my mind. In fact I also want to build my body in a good figure so I want to learn dance but has no way to do that. As I am in a poor family in my childhood. Now, I have the condition but, I am no logner young.

Ah, yes... Les Ballets Trocadero... looks like they've been waxing. When they first started out, they went on-stage with moustaches, hairy chests and armpits and all, but in the frilly tutus and point shoes, though not dancing en pointe... how things have changed.

While I learned other forms of dance moves I didn't get to learn ballet until much older...it really does take a lot of discipline and countless hours of exercise..sometimes not so much fun..LOL
