Well I had that terrible accident last night. I own a 2005 Buick LeSabre. I checked the Kelly Blue Book site www.kbb.com and with the miles on it the value is $10,135. So far the estimate to repair the damage to it is near $5,000. The man stated maybe a little more after he checks further into the engine and all. SO I am hoping it does not get totaled as I love that car. Now I will be getting picked up to get my rental for 5 days. Long story there but that's been discussed and may be at a later date. So I wait for things to happen slowly with a 4 day weekend coming up. No work will be started on my car till Monday at the earliest. Have you ever had an accident? Have you ever had a newer vehicle totaled from an accident? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi GRANDPA BOB, You just have to sit tight and wait, but just try and relax over the weekend till Monday, I hope it won't be too expensive for you but it is still expensive. Nothing like that ever happened to me, thank goodness. Tamara

We had a car totalled once and it was a blessing. Hubby was leasing a pick up truck, and the lease was soon going to be over. He'd gone over the allowed mileage, and would have had to pay a pretty penny once the lease was up. But one day while driving I got in a bad accident which totalled his truck. The insurance company ended up paying it off. So we were stuck trying to find another car, but we did not have to pay for his truck, thankfully.

Hi Grampa Bob, I've never talked to you before, but I have paid notice to the conversations you are involved in. You're right. That is a beautiful car. The only thing I have found is that once a car is in an accident like that, it usually never is the same. It never drives the same. Well here's hopin' that's not the case. Good luck Cheryl

That's good news! Maybe your car will be fixed after all. Thanks to my ex husband I've had a couple of cars totaled out. He got DUIs out of the deal too. As for me, I was hit a couple of years ago, and it was the other person's fault. Thankfully I was in the Ford pickup we had just gotten because if I had been in my little Ford Escort, it would have been totaled for sure. The lady couldn't see me coming up behind her because the back end of an Escalade was sticking out into the road blocking her mirror. As I pulled up next to her she pulled out and ended up locked up under the passenger side front fender of the truck. She hit it so hard that the whole front end twisted up. It cost $2000 to have it repaired, plus the lady's insurance paid for the rental vehicle for 2 weeks. I never want to go through that again. Granted the truck is so heavy that I didn't feel the other vehicle hit, but it was still pretty scary just the same.

I've had several accidents. Most during my beginning years of driving. And all of those were with older cars. (Which in retrospect, I'm very glad they were older cars from when they used to build strong steel frames. I had 2 rollover accidents and came out unscathed from both due to the strength of the cars.) Only 3 of the accidents actually totalled the car. (Obviously, the 2 rollovers, and 1 near head on collision.) I've side-swiped the rear end of a car leaving the side of my car damaged, but drivable. Only knocked out the guys tail light. In the same car - skidded over a 4 foot ditch and flipped head over tail, landing on the roof. Very scary - at night in winter. Different car - missed a curve and hit a short fence post of a barbed wire fence - causing the car to rollover. Landed upright. Different car - missed a curve (yes a pattern) hit a telephone pole. Dad fixed that car and sold it. Had a low-speed head-on collision with another car (his fault). Car was drivable. Had a lady pull in front of me IN an intersection, I hit her tail end. Totalled my car. Have a new car now. Got the insurance policy that buys you a new one if it gets totalled in the first 3 years. Hopefully will never need it. Good luck on your car!

Maybe if they do total it you can buy it back from the insurance company and fix it. I mean depending on why they total it. I had a Blazer a few years back and hit a deer and they totaled it and we bought it back from the insurance company for $200.00.We did get a new vehicle but my husband fixed the Blazer up over a few months and I actually gave it to my oldest son and he just got rid of it about a year ago. Glad you're ok and hope everything works out for you

Over 5K damage so far. If it gets totaled I should get a $10,000 check. I'd buy a nice used car actually. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I had a bad accident 6 years ago yesturday. It was the Monday before Thanksgiving. My car was totaled, it was an older car but a goodie. I was hurt and trapped in the car. The firemen had to use the jaws of life to get me out of the car. It was a head on wreck. My face hit the steering wheel, I had a bigger black eye then Rocky after one of his fights. My right wrist was dislocated, I ended up having surgery on that. I was in a cast for over 5 months, then a splint for many more months. It took well over a year for the injury to heal, I was messed up pretty bad. I had Angels working overtime for me that day. It sounds like you had some of your own Angels too.

Yes, I have been in an accident before. A few years ago I was rear ended by some very little speaking English moron who didn't realize I was stopped at a stop sign. Mine you he just turned at a stop sign in the same parking lot prior to that. Than the man processes to get all irritate and scream at me while I was on the phone will 911 dispatch. The lady told me to tell him to go back to his car and roll the window up. Which I did. The ambulance came and took me away. At the hospital, a cop finally showed up to take my statement. He called me a lair saying the man did not treat me like that. I told him if he didn't believe me to go listen to the 911 tape because the dispatcher got it all on tape. And to get the hell out of my face cause I was reporting his attitude to his superior.

I am so sorry to hear this grandpa, and hope that you are not hurt in any way. Yes, I was hit once by a teenage girl who was speeding and she totaled out my car which I just made the last payment on. It was terrible, and I had a bad whiplash, the worst of it was, it happened this same time of year. I spent the holidays trying to recover with multiple contusions. I was so thankful to God that My children were safe because the doors were falling off and there was broken glass eeverywhere.I hope that you get your car fixed soon and take care Grandpa.

Hello webeishere, I am glad you are alright. The car is still new. I do hope it will be as good as new. I have been in an accident but the car I have then was not totalled. After, it was repaired, it's good as new. Aside from some scars when you look inside, it is still good looking outside and running pretty well. The engine and the body were not affected by the accident. Good luck. Regards.

Knock on wood but I have never been in a bad accident and the only wreck I was in I was a passenger and minor damage on her car. Hopefully your car won't be totaled and they can get it back to the way it was before the wreck.

I once had a buick regal, and was in a car accident. I was making a left hand turn at an intersection with a flashing amber light. Actually, it was April 1, about nine at night. As I was making my turn, all I heard was metal, I was broad sided on the passenger side. Mind you, it was an amber light, but the guy hit me so hard, my car did a 360. The car that hit me was a honda, so a little honda totalled a buick. My head went through the windshield, and I broke my left wrist in three places. I was out of work for six months, with therapy and everything. The guy had the nerve to sue me for one million dollars, needless to say the case was dismissed. He was driving on a suspended license with no insurance. I loved my buick too.

Some accidents are unavoidable.....I think.....I always say drive more careful! I have never been in an accident, but I have had many close calls...what saves me? I pay close attention to whats going on all around me. I once had a car pull right out in front of me I was going speed limit (55) and was right there!! I slammed on my brakes and swurved to the shoulder. The other person had slowed realizing he pulled out in front of me, we came to a stop side by side! I would have hit him if I didn't slam on my brakes! What made me the most mad was after we had come to a stop I looked over and he had a little girl no more than 10 in the front seat (the side I would have hit) with no seat belt on!!! He looked at me then took off. Some people just should not be on the road!

I don't know why accidents happen more and more everyday. Last week my husband's Chevy van got hit too. We are planning to use it for our out of town trip on the weekend but the car behind him almost towed him when he turned right. The bumper almost fell off. We sent it to the shop last Saturday. They said the estimated cost would be three thousand. Good thing we didn't have to spend a thing for it because it was covered by the other guy's insurance. We also rented another van from enterprise that is covered by the insurance too. What a relief. We can finally push through our plans for the weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!

My car was totaled in on February 6th of this year. I was so ticked at the guy who struck me. I still had loan payments to make. His insurance paid off the loan, but left me without a reliable car. We do have another one that I am now driving, but it is older.

Well its good to hear that you got your rental car, even if you don't like it..lol. Yeah, the rentals are usually ugly cars that are so small you can barely fit in them. I hope your car isn't totaled either, what will you do if it is? Does that mean if it is, the insurance will get your old car, and they give you money for another one? I wasn't sure how that worked, my sisters car got totaled one time, they gave her money and then took her old car. In which, it could of been fixed, and my sister would of still had her car, but the ins. co. didn't give her quite enough to cover it, so they just took it. I told her they'll get it fixed and sell it somewhere, she was sad, but she couldn't help it. I've been in an accident before, but thank goodness there wasn't very much damage it was fixable.

The first car I ever had was in an accident. It was in February and there was black ice on the road. I was almost to work when a car slid into my path. It was on a bridge and there was no way I could stop. This was on the freeway and you know how they bank. Why he was driving on the high end of the road is beyond me, because he couldn't hold the road. My car was damaged but not totaled. He got a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.

Yea that sucks man. I once had a motorcycle that i got rear ended on and they had to total it because the parts were more than it was worth. The funny thing was that i paid for it in cash and they didn't even make me have to go get a salvage title. They let me keep the bike and wrote me a check for the damages. I ended up replacing some parts enough to sell it of course and then pocketed half the money. If the accident wasn't your fault you probable could cash in on this mishap.

I would be afraid of possible frame damage and future repairs that might be needed if you get it fixed now. Of course if it is easier on you to just get it fixed I would say go for it. Don't you hate waiting on insurance bs? Insurance companies are a riot to deal with!

Hello my dear webeishere Ji, I can see more than half for its repair cost, then why do you not prefer to have another new car, untill and unless it has some sentimental values. have a great time.
