As an English major graduate, ofcoures it's obvious that my answer would be English. I just love English more than Mathematics. Since I stared studying I tend to love all subjects but not Mathematics. I hate numbers. When my brother asked me to teach him his homework about Mathematics, I told him that, it's better for me to be asked to interpret a poem but not to solve numbers lol. :-) how about you?

Hands down, English is the easier of the two. The thing is in English if you can support it, anything can be the right answer. In math, it's either right or wrong.

I agree. In math, also, if you get the least bit behind, then your going to continously get behind until you're totally confused as to what's going on! It's almost frightening for me! I do think some people are just more math oriented in the brain and can easily do it. People who prefer english and it's easier for them probably use a different part of the brain than math experts do, it's not that they are any more intelligent, it's just different types of intellect, I think...

Hello eynjel05, I think it depends on the person. Personality tests or the recent work done by psycologists on emotional inteligence shows that we are all quite different. I see people who are good at artistic things and those who are good at mathematics as being broadly too different types of personalities. I know that I was quite good at mathematics and regarded myself as being weak at English and foreign languages. Over time have worked on these weaknesses and have balanced out the score between art and logical themes. So I would regard the difficulty of the subject as being a relative thing for each individual, but I know personally that you can work on your weak areas and change your attitude to a topic from a negative to a postive. This can also be helped by having a good teacher who can help you overcome your fears and encourage you to find something positive or attractive in a topic you had always hated or feared.
Have a good weekend. Umart

Absolutely! I'ts not teu. I have this friend during during college. He is a math major. We had given an assignment by our math professor. So I asked him how to solve such mathematical problem. He just answered it. Actually the answers were correct, but when I asked him to explain the solutions how to get the correct answer, he can't explain it to me.

Hi
What your husband said is not quite true. There are many wonderful mathematicians who doesn't speak a word of English. And there are many more English speakers who doesn't now how to add or multiply two fractions.
I guess your husband is just trying to make you learn English and maths, lol

To me, English is a more difficult subject. English is not my first language, and I always find it difficult to master it, especially I seldom use it as compared with my first language. Also, I like mathematics subject very much, among all those subjects, I'll prefer Maths. I enjoy working on maths questions, it's kinda interesting and challenging. ^_^

[i]Hello eynjel05,
Both subjects were hard for me. Up to now I don't how I was able to pass those several subjects about English and Mathematics. I think I learned just the basic to pass each subjects. I took up Engineering at college to avoid to many English subjects and I end up with too much Mathematics. Since I pass my degree with more Mathematics, I guess English is much more harder subject than Mathematics for me.

It would be Mathematics for me. I am able to learn English in a breeze. I never seem to find this subject to learn.. I love English. It can be very challenging at times but very easy. Math is easy when you first begin to learn it. But as you get older it becomes much harder to learn then..

For me it would probably be English, I'm not good with numbers, I've always had trouble in school with math because I couldn't understand it. I'd rather take an english class than math anyday....Have a good day

Math is easier. Once you learn how you can get the right answer. There is never any right answer in English, it is so subject to interpretation. I used to have an English teacher who would mark your assignments down if you used a ball point pen and would give you a good mark if you used a fountain pen. As I am left handed fountain pens are messy and awkward so I would have to carefully craft assignments with this stupid awkward pen so my marks would not suffer. It soured me on English.

Its MATHEMATICS, no question about that, ever since I first set my eyes on numbers I knew that I would hate this subject, because its just too complicated, its very difficult to understand with all the formulas and calculations, I have no future on this subject, I'd rather die than to pursue a career concerning mathematics. I'd prefer ENGLISH or any field of Science a million times better.

English has always been my favorite subject too, in that I majored in it in college. However, I've never been fond of mathematics, especially algebra which has always been like a foreign language to me. I love literature, especially the classics.

I have a really rough time with math as well. I can do the basics but not much more. I think it's really a question of how much time and effort you put into it. You need to unlearn your negative thought patterns about the subject and think positively. Easier said than done I know. You also need the right type of teacher as well. Not everyone learns the same way as I'm sure you know. not one of my teachers was ever able to figure out how to properly teach me math. It's unfortunate beause now when my kids ask me a math question I am not sure what to tell them. I usually look to my wife. She is much better at math than I am.

I know exactly how u feel about Math. I just can't do it. I could pass it and all but thats about it. I love Literature myself; i guess thats why its always been so easy for me. Reading has always been fun for me and hence literature was just easy, i could pick up the details because I read so much. Personally I think the only math people like me need to know is how to add, subtract, divide and multiply..and calculators can do all that..lol

Defiantly Mathematics. English is all about proper support and persuasion. That said, I could write a paper about how Harry Potter is a metaphor for global warming as long as I can support my claims and convince the reader I'm right. Math on the other hand, is black or white. Right or wrong. You can't convince a math professor that 2+2=5 no matter how much support you have!
